Tried just about everything else
even spurned the obvious selection of him whilst Arnie was suspended just before Xmas
he has the maturity - the 'nouse' and the legs to get up and down and affect the game - that much is obvious
and - featured quite a bit in the AFCON whilst showing maturity and usefulness way beyond his years
Meanwhile in his absence, we try Ngoy who is plainly, light years off a regular start in the premier league
(imho)
I for one will be bloody disappointed if Ramadan is not slotted straight into our first eleven this Saturday
not difficult this -- is it ?

The convenient excuse will that he'll need a rest after the ACON. For the next 4 months.

We have Crouch, Bony, Walters, Diouf, Berahino, Sobhi, Ngoy , Shaq and Arnie that can all play up front. 3 or 4 on the field and 3 on the bench means at least two miss out . It's going to be a tough few weeks for a few players barring injury

I wouldn't go so far as to say that he 'must' start.
We've been playing okay the past few weeks imo. Just results haven't fallen our way.
All part of football and nothing for people to shit their pants over.

I just want to see some balance to the team...not affelay out wide, or three at the back, or diouf at right back,or having crouchy as our main striker. Whilst this season hasn't been a disaster, it's just been so frustrating. We can and do so much better. It feels like we haven't got going. I sit and try and work out our best team, with balance, solidity mixed with attacking intent, a settled team that knows their jobs and I can't.

yep - and the sort of utter bollocks we can now routinely expect from Our Football club management as opposes to the utter bollocks from some of our so called fans. ibelieve sobhi will become a regular at stoke in time but maybe not just yet. yes he has played for egypt in the afcon but only by coming off the bench. maybe that will be his role this season. besides if you play sobhi then you have to shove our most potent goal threat onto the right wing where he his not as effective.

Where does he play then Tony? He's a right footed left winger like Arnie. You don't switch either of them ideally. If Shaq is fit he comes back in on the right. However, Sobhi should be on the bench at least.

whether he should start for the remainder of the season or not is open to debate - imho probably not.
However he is exactly the sort of player a flaky Palace defence would appear to struggle to contain so there is a strong case for him starting on Saturday.

However, Sobhi should be on the bench at least. Do we need to play two inverted wingers? Arnie and Sobhi may both PREFER to play on the left but would it be such a bad thing to play one of them on the right and one on the left? Arnie has certainly put in some good crosses (and got assists) on those occasions he has played on the right and Sobhi arrived with the reputation of being able to play across the front line. I'd like to see both Sobhi and Arnie on the pitch together - as both bring something which we need - power combined with a bit of pace and skill. Shaq always looks more consistent for club and country when played in the number 10 role. And playing in the centre stops his habit of slowing things down by beating his man on the outside and then checking back and trying to cut inside - that really does my head in. I can't see any point in beating a man on the outside if you are not going to cross or run into the area immediately you get past the man - providing there is someone in the box to pass to.

From what Iv seen he's not ready just yet. I personally would give him a year in the championship He looks ready to me. He's always struck me as remarkably mature for his age. He's possibly the most physically strong attacker we have and puts a decent shift in with defensive duties as well as bringing pace and skill to our attack. In almost every game he has played he has looked far from out of his depth and has usually worried the opposing full back. I'm not saying he's ready to start every game but he looks above Championship class and I would be horrified if he went out on loan this season.

I'd like to see, at least at home to one of the lesser lights, our try Sobhi left, Arnie right and Shaq at number 10, with Saido up front, before the end of the season.

Nah...or play him somewhere else...thus adding to the lack of balance? Our squad is too heavy in some area and so light in others

I'd definitely play him, especially with Shaq out.
He's been solid when he's played. I think people are buying the hype from the less than level headed Egyptians and Martin frigging Jol.

Mark has been trying Affy on the right. I love Afellay but he is never a winger. I've been saying for quite a while to play Arnie on the right with his natural right foot. Give Sobhi a chance on the left, as Tone has said, in not so many words. Arnie has not scored many this season, so no big deal him playing on the right. If no put Sobhi on the right. At least his pace could help Eric stop that bloody nuisance Zaha! The defence is my main concern at present. There is always a mistake amongst them! Crystal Palace trying everything to get them up for this. We need to go for the throat, and stop peeing about in this one!
