Tried just about everything else even spurned the obvious selection of him whilst Arnie was suspended just before Xmas he has the maturity - the 'nouse' and the legs to get up and down and affect the game - that much is obvious and - featured quite a bit in the AFCON whilst showing maturity and usefulness way beyond his years Meanwhile in his absence, we try Ngoy who is plainly, light years off a regular start in the premier league (imho) I for one will be bloody disappointed if Ramadan is not slotted straight into our first eleven this Saturday not difficult this -- is it ? As he suddenly turned into Ryan giggs while playing in the ACON , play him near the end of the season when there's nothing to play for

What if, having seen Sobhi in training day-in and day-out, the manager thinks, 'this kid isn't ready'. The best way to manage that would be to work with him in training and ease him into the side. He could, I suppose, throw him into the intensity of the Premier league without preparing him and risk blowing his confidence and burning him out. But my guess is that he did not buy the player in order to not play him. I would think he is desperate to get him up to performing regularly in the Premier league.
That's the way it seems to me. His first performances showed some nice touches and good vision, but the tracking back and defensive work was lacking. He has shown more each time we have seen him. In his last appearance he was tacking back and working really hard, as well being the creative player we want him to be. He can't be far off. Having said that he is not as strong or as good as Arnie, either attacking or defending, in the same position. In a straight choice Arnie would get the start every time.
I am sure his time will come.

I reckon he would have played Sobhi on the wing in the last few matches if he wasn't still in Africa. He will probably start or come on from the bench against Palace. Start him if Shaq is injured please! Affelay not looking his best when played out wide these days. Back into the middle with him.

His tracking back and team ethic in the west ham game was superb. He produced the best workmanlike defensive performance I've seen from our wingers this season. His attacking performances against swansea and hull are right up there with the quality arnie produces. Maybe your right and he is the opposite in training

I'd like to see, at least at home to one of the lesser lights, our try Sobhi left, Arnie right and Shaq at number 10, with Saido up front, before the end of the season. THIS THISs DEFINITELY THIS THIS IS WHAT WE WANT

I watched some of the AfCoN games and he walks into that Egypt team. I could walk into that Egypt team. He only started one game though which he played for just over an hour, then was coming off the bench for 20 minutes/half an hour at a time I know they rave about him in Egypt, but if he was that good surely he'd be a key player, and one of the first on the team sheet?

He is a key player when Egypt is losing the game or going forward is the priority since Cooper play a closed game by tightening the defense and playing long balls which is why Ramadan doesn't start since his replacement is more suitable for this style of gameplay.

I don't think the reason he didn't start any games was because of how he was playing. More to do with his relationship between the coach and himself. They said it was sorted but I think the manager was making an example of him.

This is way too sensible an argument for this board. But it does beg the question - why did we sign him in the first place? I assume he was signed as a back-up and future replacement for Arni. If so, why didn't he play when he was suspended? (Coincided with ACON? - I don't recall.)

THIS THISs DEFINITELY THIS THIS IS WHAT WE WANT This is so blindingly obvious and fans have calling for this for a long time. So either Hughes is too stupid (which I doubt), too stubborn (which is possible) or they have tried it in training (which I hope) and it didn't work. Someone should ask him tonight at the Meet the Manager Meeting (which they won't).

With Shaq out and Afellay being the worst winger we've had since Shotton he has to start.
But on the left with Arnie on the right.

Is he back, has he trained? Is so with Shaqiri out again he has to be a contender to start. If he hasn't trained then on the bench.

Should be a no-brainer with Shaq injured, if Diouf and Afellay are the only other options.

Hughes said on buying him he was one for the future and wanted to bring down the average age of the squad, on a personal note I don't think he as done enough to warrant a first team place yet.

"Very much in my thoughts" says Hughesy.
“We do however have Ramadan back in the building now and he is very much in my thoughts for the match.
“In terms of match fitness, he is probably in as good a shape as he has been during his time here, after playing for Egypt over the past couple of weeks.
“He is in a good place at the moment and there is no reason why he won’t be involved in some capacity against Crystal Palace.”

He was back yesterday: Sides tend to train with the intended side and team shape from Wednesday's onwards so if he's trained ok he has to be a strong contender to start.
