Get all the squad numbered shirts, lay them with the numbers face down like dominoes, then pick eleven out....it's about the only thing Hughes hasn't tried yet

Not sure the thought process behind playing shaq and Arnie on opposite wings as some are saying. They're bred to cut in and play off the front man. Tell them to get chalk on their boots and: 1) they have to figure out effectively a new position, or at least new way of playing. 2) Crouch will have even fewer players near him. We get a good amount of crosses in as it is anyway, doubt playing more out of position will help.

Highest is Southampton on 22 with the lowest being Bournemouth and Sunderland on 12. Those stats have had the average number of corners removed from them, but not dead ball situations in wide areas. Source for information is whoscored.com. Not sure how reliable they or their sources of information are!

Play 3 midfielders with 1 (Whelan) sitting in front of the back 4 and the other 2 in front of him.

It's not how many crosses we get in,it's about the quality of the crosses that's the important thing..against West Brom Affelay atemted no end of crosses and not once did he pick out a Stoke player...another poor decision by Hughes, everybody can see hes he's not a winger...

The problem for me is that they may get a cross in but they're either shit or (because they have checked onto their stronger foot) easy for the centre backs to defend.

Loads of calls for Diouf. I don't get it. Hard worker, technically bereft. God help us.

Palace will have 10 men behind the ball and then catch us on the break, result 0-1.We just can't break down these sides that do this against us.Allardyce and Pulis know how to set up against us. Am I the only one who is pessimistic about this game,as a defeat will really put LMH back under pressure again.

Nah, can't see us getting anything less than a draw this time, they were lucky to win at the Brit last season and they're gash now

We've entirely self inflicted a situation where, here on in,
every game seemingly is a must win
until we get those three additional wins
its totally needless
its profligate
and stupid
for it is Stoke City's season 2016/17
(probably the first since we returned where I wont buy the end of season DVD because, there wont be much on it worth watching in truth )

We should register as a Charity to benefit teams coming to Stoke desperate for a win, handing out three points to the needy.

It's not a new thing. I remember 10-15 years back we played Rotherham at home in Spring. They hadn't won away on a Saturday all season. A Wayne Thomas of in injury time sealed the deal.
We're Stoke. It's what we do.
*obviously at 3pm on Saturday I'll feel totally differently!

We'll win on Saturday and win comfortably.

Apparently the Palace Chairman went into the dressing room after the game and ordered them in for training on Sunday morning. Could be interesting.

They are invariably diagonal crosses from a high position that often fail to beat the first defender and Pieters is the worst culprit. We very rarely get behind the full back and cross from the bye line yet both Arnie and Shaq are more than capable of getting beyond their full backs.

I keep trying to make a line-up and wish we had Cameron or Shaq at 100% for this one although it looks like Shaq in getting back in the fold. Is he close to a return?

Grant Bardsley - Shawcross - Indi - Pieters Whelan - Allen Shaqiri - Afellay - Arnautovic Bony Crouch needs a rest and we need a rest from aimlessly thumping balls up to him. Bony gets a start by default and needs to grab the chance with both hands. Diouf is not good enough on the ball and his boundless energy is simply not enough to warrant a start there. Berahino is not yet ready for a full game up front. Walters is crocked. Allen needs to nail down the box to box role which must be his settled starting place. Afellay should play centrally or not at all. Not at all for me. Adam or Imbula as the more advanced midfielder would be my preference. Afellay creates very little.

Hughes haters will be on here with the usual drivel if we draw or lose. If we win they will crawl back under a rock for another week...But that's how fickle football fans are..... Should be very interesting whatever way the result goes on Sat......Get your fingers ready !😉

With Shaq & Johnson
Grant Johnson - Indi - Shawcross - Pieters Whelan - Aff Shaq - Allen - Arnie Crouch
No Shaq or Johnson
Bards - Indi - Shawcross - Pieters Whelan - Aff Sobhi - Allen - Arnie Crouch
As tempting as it is to drop Crouch for Berahino, I'd stick with the big fella for this one.

Bony up front and Imbula in behind bringing the ball from deep in our half would be my only change from the last game

the anti hughes rhetoric on here simply amazes me.yes we havent won the league or fa cup but fuck me top ten finishes are not to be sniffed at.we all wanted a better season this year but unfortunately our flair players just havent clicked.im hoping for a decent end to the season so we can head into next season with renewed optimism. ordinarily i would be tipping us to lose but we seem to have got our act together against the poorer teams and our record against fat sam is quite good so i am optimistic.
