Give Ngoy a chance he did more yesterday in his 30 mins than Arnie did in 60 other than throwing his arms around and blaming others for not passing directly to his feet. I'm all for giving ngoy a chance but to drop Arnie who carries our best attacking threat n charlie who's our best midfielder ATM is sheer lunacy IMO mate

I think I'm as confused as Hughes but there's a bit of me that would like to give Bony another go.
.......Whelan.........Afellay.......... ...................Imbula................... ..Shaq............................Arni.... ......................Bony...................
If Shaqs out bring in Sobhi.

Imbula has to play.
Only one who can drive forward and beat a man from a central position.

same as last week, Afellay out for Shaq/Ramadan depending if shaq is fit. Probably give Allen a rest but fuck knows who for, we don't really have anyone else to try at number 10. Maybe Charlie if Cameron is back, otherwise I haven't got a clue.

Johnson Shawcross Indi
Diouf Whelan Adam Pieters
........Arnautovic..........
Crouch Berahino
Similar to the Watford game where he played Arnie behind Crouch and Walters. Other alternative is to slot Bardsley in where Diouf is and play Diouf up front with Berahino.
That's what I'd do and I know Hughes will probably line up like:
Bardsley Shawcross Indi Pieters
........Whelan Adam............
Diouf Afellay Arnie
..........Crouch..................

Interesting piece on the Press Pass TS about Palace. Along the lines of the transition from a counter attacking team that survived the drop, to a more possession based football has knackered them. Been overwhelmed in the transition. Pardew left them in a mess. Combined with an over reliance on the new recruits, january signings Schlupp/Van Arnolt etc, who havn't had time to settle it doesn't bode well for Sam. Always the chance of them being on the rebound after the Sunderland game. Need to run at them screaming, unsettle them from the off. We owe them one. Grant Bardsley Shawcross Bruno Pieters Whelan Adam Allen Shaqiri Bony Arnautovic Berahino {Bony} Imbula {any of the mids} Diouf {Shaq} on.

Back 5 picks itself Allen Whelan Diouf Shaq Arnie Bony Allen needs to be told to cut out the headless chicken routine and sit. To me that team looks solid but has the attacking flair we missed yesterday. Agree about Allen but don't seen any evidence of Bony doing much at all somehow he needs to find a forward who can play well with Berahino and do the work that one of them needs to so Crouch for me and Berhano to start so we can see what he can offer us as quickly as possible its only games that will show if he is going to be any use of not

This game will certainly decide whether or not our league position is a complete fluke.
They get absolutely fucking hammered 4-0 by the worst team i've seen play all season.........at home.
If I don't see a cricket score then i'm calling shenanigans to the whole season.

Arnie is undobhtably one of our best talents.
But he is and can be very frustrating.
We'd v Everton, and at the Hawthorns drove me crazy. On numerous occasions just switch off and pay no interest?
What should Hughes do? Piss off the self conceived superstar, or Piss him off and drop him.
Personaly I would try to get him performing and then hopefully attract some attention and sell him.
He ain't doing it.

I've been a fan of the 3, gave us some good front foot football, scored goals Johnson Bruno Muniesa Diouf Adam Imbula Pieters Shaqiri Walters Arnie Was pretty balanced and effective, I don't think Ryan suited it so well and the current back four is doing well for me, so I'd stick to that. I agree Allen isn't get the rub at the moment, maybe that is fatigue, dunno, he had his purple patch with Bony in front of him. If it was a way of getting some goals back from the money we've spent on Bony and it re ignites Joe it'd be worth it. Can't see Hughes dropping 4 in 6 Peter Crouch though, so it's moot.

Monday morning, if I was Hughes, I would make it clear - from Palace on we are sticking with 4231, with the following personnel (subject to injuries):
Grant
Johnson Shawcross Indi Pieters
Whelan Adam (Allen once he's back in form)
Arnie Shaq Sobhi (Ngoy after 60)
Berahino (Crouch after 50/60 for a while)
SIMPLE - then come the summer if bojan has been on fire at Mainz, build the attack round a rejuvenated bojjy and berahino (shaq back on the right), if not then hopefully shaq comes good there and sell Bojan. Buy a top quality carvalho type midfield destroyer ( to hopefully play alongside allen), sign bruno permanently, 2 bombimg fullbacks and along with an injury free Butland we'd be in a position to challenge the top 6 with Everton.
This process begins with the selection foundations laid out above, that Hughes should deploy from Palace onwards (however whether he executes is another debate!). UTMP

I'm all for fair criticism but you're chatting rubbish mate. Sell out best player? Please.

Football is a fairly simple game and footballers are notoriously simple. If you set a team up as 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 etc there's a very good chance you will confuse the fuck out of yourself and the rest of the players. 4-4-2 is the past and is also the future, nice and simple for simple people.

.............Jack..............
Johnson...Ryan...Indi....Erik
Shaq...Allen....Glenn....Arnie
............Bojan............
...........Siado.............
That would be my team although I will have to wait until next season all being well.
Big mistake shipping Bojan out imo.
I suppose Allen will fill in for Bojan with Adam alongside Glenn. So no changes next match.

I think the fact that no poster seems to come up with the same side says what a shambolic situation it is that after over half a season we still don't know what our best side is.

We put 4 past them. They are absolute gash. Football is a mental game, Swansea beat us. They were shit before it and shit afterwards. I fancy Palace to pick up a point against Stoke

4-2-3-1
Grant
Bardsley Shawcross Martins Indi Pieters
Whelan Adam
Diouf Afellay Arnautovic
Crouch
I expect us to beat Palace with them being 2nd from bottom and us owing them after our 4-1 tonking at Selhurst Park. However they are our bogey side and our home form is patchy so no doubt we'll get beaten :-(

We don't need Whelan against the lower teams, yesterday we didn't need him either, he kept taking the ball off the centre halfs and passing it five yards which they could do themselves.Put Allen in his right position next to Adam and put Berahino with Crouch. You can't drop Crouch as he has either scored or set a goal up in every game bar yesterday.

Yep, I'm a straight 4-4-2 man myself as well. You can allow some fluidity within it, but the fundamental structure which everyone signs up to, understands and makes footballing sense should be 4-4-2.
