I wonder if Peter Coates will half an eye on that in his future thoughts?. He's not going to want to have all those empty seats and if last nights performance becomes the norm then I imagine they will remain empty.

Will it fill 1,800 though cause isn't that how many extra seats there'll be?

Thought it was all singed to start at the end of the season.
Doubt he's able to back out even if he wanted.

It's only 1800 and the only empty seats last night were in the family stand and no shows from season ticket holders. We still managed to fill the extra block in the South Stand aswell.

The family stand wants fucking off. Shove it in a little corner away from the cameras as well. Even in the big games there's empty seats. The rest of the ground can still be full but the family stand always lets it down.
It's half empty to start with and a quarter full on 75 mins. Name and shame those that do it or fuck it off somewhere else.

Yet ironically you can't get a seat in there for love nor money. The kids tickets are that cheap you can effectively miss 2/3rds of the season and they still be good value for money.....

We've been down this route before season tickets will not be blindly renewed by all if the product is crap entertainment. There is an element of our support that will still go no matter what is served up at whatever level of about 10,000. I know I used to be one. I'm older now, I like to think more discerning and if they keep boring the tits off me I'll vote with my feet as I did in 2013. I'd imagine there are a few thousand more that feel the same as there were then. Capacity is soon to be raised to about 30,000 and a significant number of the people who are going to be needed to fill those seats are the type that need to be persuaded by a good product and will not just stomach any old shite.

I used your post as an example to demonstrate that season ticket supporters shouldn't be taken for granted to renew especially considering the product currently on offer. It was in no way critical of you or your post just of a similar topic thats why I quoted, hope that clarifies.

Yet ironically you can't get a seat in there for love nor money. The kids tickets are that cheap you can effectively miss 2/3rds of the season and they still be good value for money..... Do you think they will move it into the new corner next season? At the time the plans were approved for the new corner a few years back, the club said that they would move the family area southwards so that it filled the new corner with some of the family area left occupying the extreme south end of the DPD stand. That would free up some seats in the DPD stand (currently in the part of the family area closest to the halfway line) to be offered for sale to anyone (other than family area groups) who wanted them. The club have not, as far as I know, said anything about whether that is still the plan when the corner is completed next summer. Of course, what COULD throw a spanner in the works would be if the government gave permission for rail seating/standing to be trialled. I see in the Guardian this morning that West Brom's chief exec has said that they would be happy to trial rail seating/standing. Obviously, if the law was changed our new corner would be ideal should we wish to trial the system.

No pain in the lower back or hips this morning due to the seat transferring the surrounding coldness to that area of your body. Add in a rail to lean on and its happy days. Bit of football wouldn't go a miss mind.

The kids tickets are that cheap you can effectively miss 2/3rds of the season and they still be good value for money..... Do you think that is a wider issue too beyond the family stand? We have suppressed the price of season tickets for so long now but we have not done the same for the pay as you go fans so the proportionate advantage of a season ticket has become greater and greater. The consequence is people buy season tickets if they think they might make say 50% of the games, the result is shit loads of empty plastic seats everywhere.

The club cant really win on this one. Very cheap tickets to get the kids in, which is brilliant, but as it is a family stand, a lot will skip games for various reasons and also because it is so cheap
Not sure I agree with reducing its capacity as we need to keep attracting the kids but when we used to be in there many picked and chose certain games so there would always be empty seats

One things for sure there wasn't 27,010 people in the crowd last night, How many left in by the final whistle 10,000 at a stretch. Left shortly after the additional minutes board went up but it looked about that even by then. unless whats on offer improves I think people might have to get used to the sight of empty seats.

One things for sure there wasn't 27,010 people in the crowd last night, Yes, but as explained above there never will be the number of people in the ground as the declared attendance, as ALL season ticket seats are deemed to be occupied even if their owners are on holiday, working, ill or watching the game on TV - and that is true of pretty well every football ground in the country. You sell 22k season tickets and the attendance is deemed to be 22K plus away sales plus pay by the game home fans. What the club should consider (which some clubs do) is a method by which ST holders who can't make it to a game (and who have no friends who want their ticket) can enable the club to resell the seat to another fan for just that game with the money being split between the St holder and a small admin charge for the club. They should really be trying this because it is a way of getting occasional visitors through the turnstiles in the hope that they become regulars eventually.
