Same old squad, but no idea who I would have picked. Doesn't seem to be anyone.

But he's very inconsistent and then???? It's poor.

Nathan Redmond deserves to be in there on current form. Uninspiring squad Jagielka looks like he's been running in treacle, Lingard is a nothing player and Drinkwater and Vardy are playing like last year was just a dream....

The fact Jagielka's still in is shocking, even by England standards. He had a poor world cup, is 34 and is generally in average/poor form for Everton. Rooney, Wilshere, etc can bring something but Jagielka brings nothing to the side.

Great to see Keane get a call up.
I wish Southgate was manager a few years ago when Ryan was at the height of his game, consistently, week in week out.

Watched Jagielka last night and my immediate thought was "past it".. so yeah, naturally in the England squad picked by a former defender, obviously.

I don't think any England manager would be willing to risk facing the media derision and backlash if he picked Ryan, and certainly not an interim manager. The media would question his suitability for the job if he selected Ryan no matter how badly the other current incumbents were performing. The inclusion of Jagielka, Stones, Drinkwater, Henderson, Wilshere , Lallana, Lingard, and Rooney show it's another selection intended to not rock the establishment, but also shows what a poor choice of players we have. Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/262547/england-squad-scotland#ixzz4PGWxL4olRyan has a reputation in the media unfairly carved by Wenger, and by his 15 minutes in the Sweden game when Ibrahimovic was having the game of his life. The only thing that would change their perception would be if Ryan moved to a top 6 club and then he would be in the squad without doubt. It will be interesting to see if any of the central defenders cry off with injury during the week, what would Southgate do then, call up someone else, or not bother with a replacement.

Hart, Jagielka, Drinkwater, Wilshire who is shite compared to Arter, Lingard who is a championship player, Townsend, Sturridge who is a bench warmer and Vardy? Keane is genuinely the only player I'd be excited to see in the squad. For me it shows how poor the selection process is, players are picked by the team they play for and not on form, Austin should be in up front, Pickford should be in the squad at least

Wilshere has been shocking for Bournemouth. The little shit bag only completed 90 minutes of football the other week and still fathom's a call up. Looking at the rest of the squad Jagielka looks slow and past it, Vardy had a great season last year but doesn't look half the player this season. But in all fairness there is a lack of talent in this England squad so whoever is picked can be picked apart by disgruntled fans. Saying that though I do hope we spank the Scots next weekend.
