You reckon he will be fired right after the match? I think negotiations with the new guy will begin before he is fired, which will cause a delay. However, he would be gone before we play another game. For all we know, the club might already be making tentative enquiries. Hughes is under an unenviable amount of pressure. On Monday, I was kind of thinking he'd be out if we lost against West Brom. But Coatesy's total contempt "it's absolutely ridiculous that the question is even being asked after 5 games" and forensic breakdown of those 5 games to back his man has made me think he could well survive even that. "Well, it was stupid after 5 games but perfectly fine after 6" doesn't really work as an explanation does it when you've gone public like that? We're all guessing though.

This time it would be halfway through a season and pretty much all of Hughes' staff would go with him. If it was in the offing you would have thought they'd tie it in with an international break and/or have a ready made replacement in place. Let's just hope it doesn't get to that though.

Coates gave Pulis every chance - not just a couple of games.

Similarly it would be no surprise to hear we are checking our options at the moment.

TP said he knew he was in trouble when 'the family's' public support went mute a couple of weeks before the end of the season! 'The family' are Shakespearean in their cleverness and ruthlessness!

One can only resoect Mr Coates for his backing and support of the club . However The last 2 days have Been as bad off the pitch as the results on it . The weak CEO hiding the captain pleading and the owner just sounding in denial .
Something is very very wrong at the club and the window showed hair how much as we failed to take the once in a lifetime opportunity and are now denying we even tried .
What's so depressing is today says we are going to bury our head even deeper over the next few weeks .
We desperately need leadership and direction at all levels

We didn't think much was on offer when they sacked TP? Di Matteo was often mentioned and a couple of others. Hughes was a big surprise so don't be surprised by another surprise appointment? As for finding managers, 'the family' should consult Watford! They don't have a problem finding a manager! Also, Sunderland have two per season every season! It can't be that difficult?

Hughes must be incredibly stupid and he deserves everything coming his way, hopefully sacked.
He knew Butland was knackered and Derby's third choice was his answer, Bardsley, Cameron, Wollschield needed replacing in defence, Whelan, Walters well past it, Affellay long term injury and he did nothing.
The Coates family are as much to blame as Hughes, lowest spenders in the summer with insane rewards on hand we sat on our hands, obviously Peter no longer pulling the strings.
Total, total balls up and we will be relegated without doubt.

This TP lark is getting boring now March Nobody is biting anymore mate I'm only asking why Peter Coates is talking about Tony Pulis when asked about Mark Hughes? I think there is more chance of me being the club's next manager than Tony Pulis, as I said last night. (Actually I quite like that idea - goalless draws forever!) Even though: FullerMagic said: march4 said:Sounded very shaky to me, mate. And why did he keep mentioning Pulis without any prompting whatsoever? I think he's on relatively thin ice, Marchy - he's got to be. The situation dictates that he's got to be on a pretty short leash from this point- but that sure as hell didn't sound to me like someone hovering over the red button. And you've really got to forget this TP thing - more chance of a Diao/Mama double act coming in! (now there's something for you to salivate over) I'm only joshing with folk over TP. There is more chance of us becoming the next management team. I think Coates and Co will take stock this time next week and they will take 3 further factors into account; 1) Result vs Norwich 2) Attendance vs Norwich 3) Result vs Pulis' mob Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/user/970/recent#ixzz4KpFMzX4G

we still would have lost, but we wouldn't have shipped as many goals.
Ryan looked more comfortable with him.
He only left 3 weeks ago, our frailties at the back have been obvious for much longer than that. We shipped plenty of goals last season with him being an ever-present. It's plain our defensive coaching (if it exists at all) is ineffective and has been for months. Agree, this has been a problem for months. I'm watching the match between Wolfsburg and Dortmund, and Dortmund was leading 2-0 when I turned the telly on. Wollscheid has been to blame for at least two of Dortmunds last three goals, if not all three. He's unfortunately way too slow and his positioning is lightyears off. I don't think it would have helped to have him in our current team - we have already tried that. If we only could find a Gerry Taggart-type of player...
