But have we got a better team? Gouranga. We've got 34 games to find out. 34 games = a potential 102 points. We could finish league champions. Who knows? Anything is possible.

Was pondering the same thought only yesterday...
Are we bigger than Villa....NO Are we bigger than Newcastle for that matter...NO. Do we have better squads than either of the above last season...NO
So the answer is yes we could...But I genuinely think we will survive and finish top 10... Simply because we have a far better man in charge than Villa and Newcastle, and certainly have an even better Chairman...

Villa were threadbare last year and replaced Benteke and Delph with a championship striker and no one.

With Bacuna, Cissokho, Guzan etc?

'Before I start I want to answer my own question by saying I really hope not.' That's reassuring that you really hope Stoke don't get relegated. I'd like to add that I really hope Stoke don't get relegated either. Any other Stoke fans hope we don't get relegated? I also don't want Stoke to get relegated. Glad to get that off my chest.

Not at all Villa were in terminal decline for years Same could be said of Newcastle and Sunderland. We are well run, no real turmoil behind the scenes and we will soon turn it around. When you are in poor form any small problems get magnified We will be fine Yup

Before I start I want to answer my own question by saying I really hope not. However it's not just the fact we're bottom even if it is after only 4 games, it's the actual run of form since January and the manner of some of the defeats. Our confidence is apparently lower than a worms arse, no apparent fight in the team and the manager seems to think we're better than we really are. Gouranga. As has been said countless times in the last 72hours, the next three games are pivotal, the first two for results and arguably the third for evidence of a pattern and first XI beginning to really gel. No, I don't think we will do a Villa. Stoke really could though, that is currently without doubt, but I remain positive.

I've said in the past a relegation fight wouldn't be a bad thing as it would help fire up the fans and improve the atmosphere.
I'm not so sure now, rather than improve the atmosphere I could see the potential for the crowd turning on certain players and things becoming quite ugly in the stands,
We're a fickle bunch these days and it's a shame that we've already taken our progress forgranted in such short time.

Without a shadow of doubt.
Hughes has managed to somehow to bungle together a team that can neither attack or defend, I literally cringe everytime the opposing team come at us as they could easily score.

We have a lot of good players.
We just need a game plan and some organisation.
If hughes can find that this next couple of games then great.
If not get someone else in. Its still early and with the quality in the squad, albeit lacking pace, a new manager could turn things around quickly.
But you can't be surprised people are agitating - look at the results for 2016 so far. Disgraceful

I'm still in the process of sounding out managers and putting the list together. Don't worry I'm not talking to Bruce or Coleman. I'm going foreign. But I'm giving hughes a couple more games. I do actually want him to sort it out. No pulis agenda here

Villa were on the slide for several seasons and had a chairman who'd lost interest. We are nowhere near that situation.
The established teams who have gone down lately fall into two camps. The Villa slow decline and inability to drag themselves from the lower positions for several seasons. This season that's Sunderland. And the clubs where a long period of stability has suddenly come to end and things have gone horribly wrong behind the scenes - Blackburn, Bolton and Fulham come to mind. We don't fall into that camp either - although some lunatics on here would seem to want to drag us in that direction.
I'm not saying we can't go down (we could and if the problems aren't addressed we will) but if we did go down it would be quite unusual for a club with our recent history.
