Very disappointing today. Gets dispossessed far too easily far too often. Another average performance. Never been the same since his injury. Would love to see him back to his best, so we need to show him as much support as possible.

Thought he was ok, certainly not his best but found good space and kept us ticking along.

The two corners he took which didn't even stay in play were simply dreadful.
Not acceptable at schoolboy level, never mind when you're getting paid a quarter of a million a month to be a professional at the sport.

At least he is very good at making himself available, look up and Bojan is an alternative for where to play the ball in 9 out of 10 times!

Would have liked to have seen him stay on with Whelan making way for Allen. They may need more time in training though perhaps.

Was good going forward on the counter but he lost possession to easily and those corners! Bright signs for me was his pace seemed better. He just needs minutes in my opinion and shooting/ corner practice!

Top quality players you just keep going with as long as possible. The more he plays, the fitter and sharper he gets. What he needs is the ball played to him as much as possible. Hopefully then he performs well and his confidence grows.
Like all our flair players going forward, you just have to get the ball to their feet as much as possible. One and two touch football is the key to getting them in the game. Some of our players just hold on to the ball too long and tend to draw in the flouls which does and will pick up injuries.
Get it and give it.

As much as i like Imbula and he was by far our best player, and whose runs are mesmerising at times, if you are Bojan playing in front of him, at times you just want it popped into feet in between the lines. He drives forward, bojan drives forward in front of him and gets crowded out. It will come. The more they play as a unit the more it will click. What we don't want is chop change all the time. Let them play, let them gel and work it out both on the training pitch and on matchday. Quality players will make it happen.

Im convinced hes still a top player. Im not convinced hughes is the motivator needed though Top players motivate themselves & help to get the others pumped up. He gets paid 70k every week & still needs someone to motivate him to do his job every week? The management team can't single out Bojan every time & give him special attention. Imbula heard the exact same words that Bojan did and he was the one getting the whole team going today.

I suppose I'm just a bit disappointed. He looked fired up in pre-season but when it really counts he failed to deliver, same can be said for Diouf. There's still 37 games to go but that's not a very promising start.

What I would like to see though is less 'working it out' at the back

He is the player making himself available from the centre backs, full backs and strikers and keeps us moving. He is the player that has a turn of direct pace to go past players. Him and Imbula were far and away the classiest players on the pitch today.

Very easy to get marked and crowded out. He has got it all in his locker and the more he plays the better he will get, i'm sure of it. Even if he loses the ball he must keep recieving it as he is one of our key players and one of the few who can make something happen from nothing with just a turn or a flick.

I suppose, Hughes will most certainly go false 9 next week, let's see how he fairs in that game.

This, he doesn't play easy safe passes he drives into areas where he is closed by two or three players and that's why he appears to 'give it away'. Afellay played this role last season but didn't drive into these areas and played a safe side pass and obviously didn't 'give it away'. I prefer a player that tries to make things happen.

Imbula heard the exact same words that Bojan did and he was the one getting the whole team going today. Not convinced, the team don't seem to get out of second gear anymore. Im convinced this slow posession football is the reason/problem, we dont look full of energy, the inverted wingers thing aswell, its not as effective as believed is it. For all these star players we have we're pretty damned shit & clueless arn't we?! We lack a bite and we have for a while, im convinced its the type of players he goes for, he likes technically gifted players. I want to see more players with the 'dna' myself. Im predicting a carbon copy of last season, making hard work of attacking and unorganised at the back and set-pieces. I think hughes' posessoon based between the lines 4-2-3-1 football is a bit shit tbh, playing like that we should be playing a high line, high tempo pressing football but we dont have the players with the ethic for it, i'm unsure of where hes going with it tbh and i dont think berahino will make a huge difference, he's more of the same. For me get a benteke in and start getting some crosses in with bojan feeding of the pieces from behind. Comitted fast tempo football is more us imo

A peripheral figure, easily snuffed out by the opposition, rightly subbed and a pale shadow of the player we had pre-injury
