England Manager PollNot an inspiring list - but it's the top 9 in the betting and to be fair, I don't think anyone outside of that lot (Wenger, Pochettino, Bilic etc) would give it a second thought?

Tiny sample, but Big Sam, Shearer and Howe are the only ones who seem to be getting any interest amongst this underwhelming English lot which sadly is almost certainly where we're going to be selecting from.
I do worry that they're just going to gift-wrap it to Southgate though, and claim it's some kind of conveyor belt in operation.

Under the stewardship of the current FA
Charlie Cairoli would probably make a good fist of it
(look him up)

Must say I'd have a bit of difficulty supporting England if they somehow convinced Wenger to get the hell out of the Emirates.

Owen's joined Shearer in plumping for Hoddle. Must say, when you see him on co-commentary duty, you do wonder how he inspires this kind of respect from the likes of Shearer and Owen. But you can't deny it's there. He's clearly impressive on the training pitch.
His post-England career at Southampton, Spurs and Wolves was hardly glittering.

I think Eddie Howe has the potential to become a very good England manager. He's at Bournemouth at the moment though, and he's done an excellent job there.

Won't be any of them. Not says I know who it will be. But doubt it'll be a name in that list.

Ah well, a least we won't be conceding any more soft goals from long throw-ins.

I have talked to someone about his time at Wolves. Apparently his team and tactics talks were supposed to be a bit like a verbal version of a Benji posting. Now that might say more about the intellect of Wolves players but it does tie in with his punditry during this tournament.

I think he's one of the best co-commentators. At least he tries to explain the game from a tactical point of view, he will often suggest alternative tactical approaches which others don't seem capable of doing and he is insightful. I think the criticism towards him is largely unwarranted and without foundation.

For too long now, the England national team has had a whiff of Arsenal about it, from the sense of entitlement in the players to the very plastic, money grabbing approach taken by the FA. I don't mean to hark back to the past, but in 2008 we had a team of players at Stoke who you felt represented us and our values well. That was a huge part of why the atmosphere was so good that season. At the same time, England seem to be increasingly turning into the sort of shameless, entitled cheats that they lap up in North London. The advent of Wenger would just cement that.
If Wenger got it, I think that would kill off my interest in England, and that makes me sad. Still, it hasn't happened yet, so no point getting annoyed right now.

The last person it should be is Whinger, with his sniffy superiority and penchance for floaty number 10 types and no end result.
We need Sam Allardyce's dour northern 'ard working lad routine to knock a bit of sense into our overpaid delicate flowers. We need someone who will instil pride into playing for our country, not a froggy intellectual! Sam is also quite sharp tactically, in a very pragmatic way, which he is not often given much credit for. He'd take success over pretty passing patterns every day of the week, which right now is what we need. We need the big countries being afraid to play us - anyone who has watched Chile the past 2 Copa Americas will know how difficult they are to play against - teak tough, hard in the tackle, pacey and direct, aggressive and skilful. That should be England.

Until they clean out the entire management team at the FA and replace them with people that understand football, I have no confidence that they'll make the right choice.
