Yep. Does the fact that Allen has replaced Imbula, whilst Whelan stays on, tell us anything about how Hughes sees the three of them working in the future? Reckon it'll be more to do with getting Whelan as many minutes on the field as poss

I don't mind none of this as its a friendly, but if we're starting next week with Wolly and Cameron in the side and diouf out wide then so far the transfer team have failed. Has Wolly not been excellent today? Between him and Ryan they just get opened up easy. One has to get evicted from the bet365 house. Who goes? You decide.

That's really bad. Season starts next week and we are far from our best. Not to seem TOO doom and gloom but it looks like being a slow start to the season for us this time.

So the season doesn't have to start for bayern and his band of Merry muppet to start dripping.

We have been piss-poor since Shaq went off. Whelan & Cameron have been absolutely useless. Bojan & Charlie have looked decent.

And missed a one on one YET AGAIN! Agree that was a bad miss again but if you KEEP playing a striker in different positions during 90mins Striker, winger , left back as Hughes has always seemed to do you will NEVER get the best out of him! How many more excuses are people going to make for Diouf?. He is fuckin' toss. If he is our best striking option for the season then we have big problems. The way the defence shapes up we will need to score at least two per game to get a point!.

Funny how when we play well pre season nobody bats an eyelid other than to put us top 6. Yet when we lose or play badly it's "pre season is irrelevant" Make your mind up. If pre season was only about fitness then they may as well stay in the gym and not risk injury. Pre season is important as it allows new players to bed in with the team and it gets them used to actual opponents. When we play poorly in any game it is a cause for at least some concern. These are professional footballers at the highest level, this is an integral part of pre-SEASON. I.e. It is part of the upcoming season. Stop defending poor performances because they don't mean points or a trophy. They still show the capabilities of the team. Even choosing players for the wrong position highlights their inability to play there during the domestic season, again showing a relevance in pre-season. Or carry on pretending that pre season is like going travelling... It's never been a serious guide with regards how a season is going to pan out though has it ? Apparently Newcastle lost 6-1 in a friendly against Leyton orient..then amassed 102 points during that season.

Butland Johnson Shawcross Wollscheid Pieters Allen Imbula Shaqiri Bojan Arnautovic Diouf
Then we'll be okay. It's just when we get one or two not in the team it effects us more than it should. Johnson not playing hinders Shaqiri, for example.

Well the chairman has made it clear nothing is imminent so up to the management to find a formula this week . Expect Arnie would make a big difference if available . Defence is the main issue. It needs sorting, we are slow, weak. Pretty much the same as he end of last season. We are sloW in defence but even slower going forwards the only time we look dangerous is when we play with PACE.not pussyfooting about one twoing and going backwards the best form of defence is ATTACK.
