Hope so. This is a guy whose career Prem finishes are: 6th 10th 7th 10th 8th 9th 9th (probably)10th Seems bizarre to talk of him being forced out. He hasn't actually failed yet. Unless there are things behind the scenes we're unaware of, he more than deserves the chance to right the ship. As was mentioned a while back, the majority of teams in the Premier League have subjectively had shit seasons, and we've (objectively) had one one of the less shitty. Statistics are a strange beast FM. If you applied the same logic Tony Pulis didn't fail. Perceptions, expectations and momentum are the new words.

If Hughes is to walk/ be sacked, who could we realistically get next year. Hiddink? Moyes? Rafa?

None of those.
The trouble is, I don't actually want anyone else...I want Hughes, but with everything generally working, like it used to be.

If we don't be west sham the pressure is on, because if we have a gash start next season, how many times have we seen this and it eventually ends up with the R word. And to be fair I'm in the Hughes camp, but next season/ first 5 games are massive.

The 5 game comment is exactly why it needs resolving in the next couple of weeks we either give him the money and the trust or we change course

So far his finishes have been 9th, 9th and we're 10th with a game to go. Can you explain to me how that isn't consistent top 10? We are 10th in the Premier Spending League so is it any surprise that we're 10th in The Premier League? All this talk about Hughes being sacked is beyond my comprehension. What a load of tripe. We've got to a Cup Semi Final and finished 10th in the Prem. Anyone would think we've been relegated. Totally agree...the team we have now and our style of play is so much better under Sparky....we've just been hit with a lot of injuries, Butlands absence in particular has hit us hard.. Luckily it occurred at the latter part of the season...Watching our style of play is so much better now ...I hated the "hoof ball" pulls style of play I'd much rather have Hughes any day of the week .....

I have a sneaky feeling(don't know why) that he might walk away at the end of the season If he does then he's a cunt. The Chairman has started to back him with serious money - what more does he want?

I hope not. He has not able to influence confidence of the players. He is not able to kick the lazy b-stards up the arse. He hasn't got enough clout with the players I believe. I'm with you buddy, I can't stand the pretender, never have and never will...........OH and have you heard his post match? yet again it's the refs fault! Get rid and get rid NOW What if he rowed the Atlantic for the DLT?

Not at all unrelated. The post was questioning the validity of a Sparky's position regarding perceptive "failure"... Tony didn't fail and got sacked. MH hasn't failed and might get sacked. If you measure the two .... I would argue that Pulis has achieved more in relative terms.

I'm not bothered really I didn't want him in the first place, don't get me wrong he's been good for Stoke over the past three seasons but I'm 100% certain he'll relegate us next season he's completely lost the plot now.

What is really clear from this post is... There are a small number of people on here that have been sat back waiting for a dip in form and some poor performance to stick the knife into Hughes, not only is it sad and pathetic, it is also absolute bollocks. The man has guided our club to top half finishes and all time high points, yet these 'supporters'are not happy and want him gone, the truth is, they never wanted him here in the first place. This blip in form has really shown up the few idiots for what they are.

Whats worrying is how few of Hughes signings have turned out to even be regular starters.
We still rely on the Pulis signings - Butland, Shawcross, Whelan, Walters, and now Adam again to offer real backbone to the side.
He has added skill over the seasons but it has slowly been to the detriment of the fighting qualities that every team needs to win the midfield battle and allow the skill players to shine through.
Even Imbula who was signed as an Nzonzi replacements appears to be a bit of a luxury when we have our backs to the wall.

I think it all depends on if we get a 15 goal a season centre forward , it makes me wonder by playing crouch at 35 is what Hughes thinks is ok as he himself played on til he was over that age , but in today's game we need a young hungry centre forward with pace , I know it won't be cheap but we can't keep relying on crouch , SJW , joseulo ,and the hide and seek champion douif , arnie is arnie but will he still be here next season , our goals for this season hasbeen dire especially when you think sparky was one of the best at putting the ball in the back of the net

I have a sneaky feeling(don't know why) that he might walk away at the end of the season I wouldn't be too displeased if that had to happen Actually I believe it would be best for both MH and Stoke After the abysmal end of season we've had I can see the alarm bells ringing full blast in the boardroom if we have a poor start to the new season (like we've had this year) and then there would be a panic change of manager So if it has to happen better to do it smoothly in the summer and let the new manager buy his own players and give Him some time to shape the team There's no reason to be romantic about these things; I believe that MH has taken us forwards but is unable to take us further than he has and I strongly believe that does not suit the Coates' ambitions for the club

Sid Never mind my pipe , Your smoking something too strong for you if you don't believe the manager is at some risk . "Separate the person me " from the problem many very rational posters on here are articulating without emotion a 50/50 view on the manager as results tailspin and big money signings fail to convince . Its only natural that those about to entrust the manager with the £40'million or so required to transform this squad might pause to be totally sure they still believe three years on he is the man to put their trust in . It's naive in the extreme to think they won't ask the question of themselves is there someone better equipped to take us to the next level the investment merits . Personally I'm glad im not the one to make the call as I think it's a very tough one he has had on balance three good years but he same could be said of say Jose at Chelsea first time round but it's the last 10 games that force change not the previous 150. My only hope is we don't fall between the two decisions with a wait and see mix and mend approach . What's the next level in your opinion? The manager has his faults but he has nothing to worry about at this moment in time as far as his job is concerned. And neither should he. The next level is having a team which plays fast effective football, with a recognized style of play week in week out, a strong defence, one that can score from set pieces, that does not concede softly from set pieces, that has a good goal scoring attacker, that doesn't get mauled by a 4 goal margin 3 weeks in the trot, that is shed off all of the deadwood we have at the club, that does not get mauled by 3 goals for 3/4 weeks on the trot, that is actually Capable of killing off a game once it goes in front, that is capable of winning some games comfortably, that does not end the season with a -15 GD and does not lose 3 out of 3 games against a dogshit team like crystal palace

The last thing they will want to do is back the man in summer and dismiss him 10 games in because its a waste of time & money. To be perfectly honest, I'd sign Gary Neville up tomorrow

I'm neither for TP nor for MH I don't care who's in charge as long as we're going forward However if one had to compare TP did the most difficult part by managing to keep us up In the first season when we were dead certs for the drop for all and sundry

Sorry mate but when a manager can totally ignore set pieces he's not squeezing the best out of his group of players which means he's not maximizing our Efficiency, not only in this department but every other department aswell. It seems to me Hughes is one dimensional he knows he's got a mid table team of players and is quite prepared to stick to his guns regarding his faultering style. I struggle to see how Neville could worsen that at worse case scenario with this group of players and my pros for Neville are here..... oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/257001/benitez?page=2

There are at present 10 places worse we could finish. Neville may well make a fine manager one day but it's a ridiculous gamble to replace someone with a track record with someone with no track record, especially at a time when things aren't, on the face of it,really that bad.
