Howe deserves a move to a 'bigger club'. I'd fancy him to takeover woy at some point... He went to Burnley, and failed. Look what he's done at Bournemouth though...

Uncle Peter would be on the blower to Jeremy Peace before Hughsie's car had turned the corner. TP's third coming is only a matter of time

Somebody mentioned Eddie Howe if Hughes went but he doesn't have the experience of dealing with players from big clubs like we have. Also with stoke not being a massive club in prem terms it would help to the a more renowned manager as we've seen with Hughes it helps in bringing certain players to the club. Even so I hope we go down the gown grown route this summer

All I'm saying is Moyes is not a very inspired choice and in my opinion would be a backward step. There's a reasonably strong argument it'd be a forward one, in that he's a manager who, while more cautious than Hughes, might marry the best of both worlds of the last two managers. His record is better than either. All Eddie Howe is at the moment is potential. Deserves a(nother) crack at a bigger job, but still a big gamble. Hughes has got bags of credit in the bank to turn it round though. Haha, understatement of the year award goes to ... Moyes is a dinosaur.

Stoke City is now a very attractive job. We'd get the pick of some good managers. We would but Coates, senior, only wants a British manager which narrows the field.

You can't beat a bit of manager speculation chat. It's the single most important appointment at any club.
I'm a big Hughes advocate but if he goes he goes - hopefully we'd replace him with someone equally as good. Anybody but that prize plum Nigel Pearson.

The more angles you look at it from re: a successor to Hughes, the more it becomes abundantly clear he is the man for the job! Would be a disaster to lose him now. Could anyone blame him for taking the Everton job though? He will be top of the betting if that press conference is to scrap Martinez.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hughes went to Everton.
I'm not sure about Moyes as a replacement, though; I've heard too many Everton fans slag him off.

When Hughes arrived he stated he knew he was in a last jamie saloon position with something to prove after the QPR situation (which I don't think was his fault) I do think he will have learnt a lesson by jumping the gun and leaving Fulham to (not) take over at villa He has signed some great players, has the boards unconditional support with a club that is being seen to live forward Everton traditionally are a bigger club traditionally, but in the premier league with new wealth we are a big club ourselves and he can achieve just as much with us as he can Everton I would be very very surprised if he even thought it to be an option for him now to swap clubs I like the sound of a last Jamie saloon, where poncey versions of the name go to drink and fight until they toughen up. M'am, I went in there a Jamie and came out a Jimbo... Not sure what happened there, it was meant to say last 'chance'

Why do you think he'd accept now? because we're not a team who's sole ambition is to get to 40 points anymore and have players like Arnautovic, Butland, Shaqiri, Affelay nowadays rather than a team containing Danny Pugh, Danny Collins and Ibrahima Sonko?

This started with a speculative comment from Richard Keys (the same Richard Keys who posted a twelve month old picture of Jose Mourinho in a Manchester hotel on Twitter to back up his claim that he was joining Man United last Christmas), a story which was then linked on the busiest Stoke City forum and then ends up in the Daily Mirror less than 24 hours later. I'm calling emphatic bollocks on this one. Strange one. From a bit of Keys fluff to a John Cross exclusive on the back page of the Mirror within a few hours. Don't see it as a big enough leap for Hughes to tickle his fancy. In this era where the middle class of the Premier can compete financially with anyone, Everton haven't got enough of a wow factor to make him really think when he's got his feet under the table here. But Tyson Fury's gut is the big news.....

a club who we will have finished higher than for 2 successive seasons, never spend bloody anything and are likely to lose all their top players over the summer as they're not even close to european football?
put that against a team who he has undoubtedly improved and progressed, up until a few weeks ago were a handful of points off the top 4, an owner and board he obviously rates and obviously trust him and a squad of players he's specifically building to play the way he wants football to be played and i can't see any reason he'd want to go there myself.
i literally can't see anything whatsoever that he'd get out of it. yes, they're traditionally a "big club" but would a settled manager go to a club who, in reality, have achieved bugger all for years simply because of how big a club they used to be?
i reckon they may well approach Hughes but will end up with Howe

You have to think that Hughes would take a serious look at this job if it comes available. Lets not kid ourselves that Everton is not a step up for Hughes. They are a bigger club have a better squad have a decent sensible chairman and now some outside investment to supplement the Sky dosh. If they could keep their big 3 players and Hughes takes Butland and Arnie you could easily see them take a tilt at top 6. Hughes stock is high despite the shambles of the last few weeks and his dilemma is whether sticking with Stoke will raise his stock or lower. If Hughes ambitions are again top 6 clubs then a few successful seasons with Everton with Europa success could see him take that step up just like Moyes. Lets hope not but I don't see too many option for everton

Would Everton's traditional size actually count for anything when trying to sign players from the perceived next level and making Hughes' job easier?
Could they even offer him a wage rise? Doubtful.
I think both Stoke and Everton would come up short in trying to sign genuinely top players that the elite clubs are in for.
It's a fact of life for them that they're resigned to shopping from the same supermarkets as us for the foreseeable future.
And even their moneybags new investor is only worth a third of Coatesy.
It's not as if they're operating on a different level to us financially at all.
I'm struggling to see the attraction from his point of view. When John Cross throws around the term 'huge club' in his article, it's not clear how that would actually show itself in practice in making Hughes' job more attractive.

They had the pulling power to sign Lukaku for £28million. Lennon chose them over us.

Stones and Lukaku basically stayed to give Martinez a chance of improving this season...they haven't so they'll be off. Baines is on his last legs, Mirallas has wanted out for about 2 years now and has given them last chance after last chance, Barkley will be off like a shot as well. yes, traditionally they're a "Bigger" club but players coming in will look at your chance og being "Big" now..they don't give a shit if you won loads of trophies in the 80s (the last time they actually WERE big) if you're coming 12th-14th now and can't hold onto any of your current top players
