I can't see MH being lured to Everton no matter what the offer unless he has been sickened by the team's performances in 2016 and wants a fresh start.
It all depends on how close he feels the Stoke set up is near to success. He started to build something on the foundations of a good well organized defence that TP left. He has had set backs with injuries the last two seasons and N'Zonzi electing to leave. So far he has failed to find the elusive 15+ goals a season striker and it must be galling to see Leicester found two. Ryan's and Pieters loss of form has been the biggest disappointment of the season for me, their recent performances have been shocking, but apart from that IMO the team are not far from success. If (a) the defence can get back to the way they were last Oct - Dec when they concede very few goals until the Everton match, (b) Imbula blossoms, and (c) we find a striker who can feed off Arni/Shaq/Bojan/Affelay then we have the makings of a great side.

i think he's just showing Martinez the respect of not addressing it either way. even if he says "I'm staying here" then he's implying that he also thinks Martinez IS off and it IS a situation he'll have to consider. i think the way he answered it is nothing but professionalism and, as he said himself, refusing to say anything whatsoever as it's someone's current job they're talking about ending. doesn't ring any alarm bells for me at all, just show me how utterly anti petty gossip and rumour mill Hughes is i.e. the way it should be for someone in his position. You may be right, though I don't really understand why "I'm staying here" implies anything about Martinez. As it is, his comment doesn't put the issue to bed, as shown by the differing interpretations in this thread. as far as he is concerned (as he said) there is already a manager at Everton...if another manager says "I'm staying here and not going there" it implies they also believe that Martinez is off as otherwise they wouldn't need to clarify it. he's basically stopping himself from being in a no win situation....if he says he's interested and Martinez DOES get the sack then people would say he was being disrespectful and presuming Roberto was for the chop before he got it; if he says he's intereseted and Martinez doesn't get the sack he's made a tit of himself and pissed off Stoke; if he say's "I'm not interested" then he's implying there's something to be interested in (and again publicly implying he thinks Roberto is getting the sack) all he's done is pretty much say "Everton have a manager so it's fuck all to do with me" managers have to word stuff like that VERY carefully to ensure no newspapers can spin the shit out of what they say to get a story out of it. Hughes is extremely good at not giving rags snippets to run with

Brendan Rodgers strikes me as the type of bloke that would accidentally drop an ATM balance check in front of a group of teenage girls while holding hands with his wife
Hughes won't leave but if he did i'd rather we brought in Mr. Bean

Hughes is extremely good at not giving rags snippets to run with I wouldn't expect a manager to use words like 'interest' or 'no interest' about another job. However, it's perfectly possible to say something like 'I'm happy here, I'm building something here, this club has shown trust in me....' etc. By not doing so, a manager gives journalists a way into continuing the story.

Lot of ifs there matey. You could apply similar theory to every team in the Prem.

From today's The Guardian: Hughes "would be well advised to stay at the rebranded Betting Bowl for a while yet, irrespective of any wooing from Everton".
Heartening words but I am slightly dismayed that the media have already started to come up with slightly derogatory epithets about our new stadium name. Makes me dislike the renaming even more.

Heartening words but I am slightly dismayed that the media have already started to come up with slightly derogatory epithets about our new stadium name. Makes me dislike the renaming even more. Since when were we bothered about labels the media give us? You might not be, but it rankles me when we are shown through some kind of media prism as a bit of a joke. Calling our stadium the Betting Bowl is derogatory, likely to catch on, and part of the whole negative image thing that we are always having to confront. Irrespective of that, I really don't like the renaming, even though I appreciate that the company are our owners. Stadium rights are such a piddling part of a club's income with next year's big money, why didn't we break the trend and go for The Stanley Matthews Stadium, or The Six Towns Stadium, etc, something that reinforces our identity, free from moral ambiguities like being named after a gambling company? Anyway, no matter. This has been debated to death on other threads. Back to Hughes.

Quick - check in the mirror Rodgers doesn't have his picture up in reception plus most of the 100+ rooms in the building. The man knows nothing about modesty!

Very different reaction from Spurs and Pochettino to end speculation in content and tone . Now MH has a contract but club or manager could have killed this stone dead today and for whatever reason chose not to .
Suspect there is a bit of both parties suffering some unease about - investment utilisation - club - Recent results - club - conviction this is the basis of a team to progress with - MH
Therefore both parties keeping their options open

Judging by what's been said today Mr Coates isn't about to let MH go anywhere soon.
Add into this his commitment to spend big this summer Everton will be looking elsewhere.

A gut feeling based on the reaction to the Presser question is that this one has got serious legs. Could be totally wrong and i'm no expert but his body language spoke volumes to me regardless of his answer. He jumped in to answer where he is normally relaxed and measured and his answer was very short to say the least. If I was to guess, I dare say contact has already been made unofficially through his (ex?) agent.
