Excellent film and brill theme tune.
Either last season or the season before they showed a short tribute film to Sir Stan on the big screen at The Brit and the music that was used was a slowed down version of this tune.Superb.

Every time I hear that little band who accompany the English team play this tune I want to yell "Get the last three bleedin' notes RIGHT for once, will you?????" They never do.

Michael Nyman is great This one is a fav of mine You can see the orchestra is finding it challenging Think his work on A Zed and two noughts is exceptional.

Karajan's masterful take on this famous Adagio
Heard in things like Rollerball and Space 1999
And the equally famous from Platoon
Swear this has been used in film 4 mins onwards is overwhelming

The Classical music thread got me thinking about Bach: I loved the way the original Rollerball employed Toccata and Fugue in it's opening sequences, that was the first time I'd heard that stirring piece.

Another vote for Get Carter. The whole soundtrack is thusly wrought -magnificent, moody, melancholy On the back of it I looked for other film soundtracks scored by him but couldn't see much, but on the basis of this film alone, for me he is up there with Morricone and Williams for film scores BTW, any fans of GET CARTER should check out a little know british movie called THE RECKONING from 1970 with the sublime Nicol Williamson in the lead - in many ways GC uses it as a blueprint.

Nothing beats this epic tune or the man himself. Legendary. Amen to that Brother. But check out the full soundtrack to Thomas Crown Affair from the same year which also featured The King Of Cool. Different vibe as its by Michel Legrand, but still channels the essence of the Man Himself

The Reckoning - never heard of it, looks interesting, wouldn't mind seeing it You can get it off Amazon but ONLY as Region 1 Found a snippet
Get Carter - amazing film, equally great tune. I love the bass line. Still laugh every time though at the dummy Alf Roberts falling off the multi story.
