Seeing your leanings to neoclassical, this might be to your taste Metalhead Very Judas Priest like but a woman singer, think you'll like the guitar..

Seeing your leanings to neoclassical, this might be to your taste Metalhead Cheers, yeah, I think I tend to lean towards the neoclassical stuff. I've always liked metal and to be honest, I do like most forms of metal, until we stray into the extreme metal variants at which point I lose all interest. One of the big parts of metal is about making genuinely good music, clever riffs, intelligent guitar solos, powerful lyrics.... when your aim as a band is about creating a wall of noise, with as much distortion as possible and singing that it is completely unintelligible, then I believe you've missed the point. I really like that Chastain record you linked. You can tell the guitarist has been to the school of Yngwie-riffs, which isn't a bad thing Is that really a female singer? It sounds like a male with a high voice like Michael Sweet. Very keen on that anyway, so I'll be downloading their album later today. Savatage are a great band btw. Not my favourite, but Edge of Thorns is an absolute classic album. These guys used to be a decent hard rock band, until they started singing about medicine which had gone bad and beds covered in roses and all that bullshit......

Talking of Michael Sweet, I've never truly been able to hate Stryper, despite their message being fundamentally religiously motivated. Michael Sweet's a great singer and a surprisingly talented guitarist, Oz Fox is also a pretty talented guitarist and the drummers pretty solid too.
I can't help but link this old video of them from the late 80's. It's perhaps one of the best live vocal performances you will EVER see. He genuinely doesn't miss a note and he's going for some incredibly high ones.... Can you imagine how good they could have been if every song wasn't babbling on about God?

Yeah I just couldn't take to Stryper; doesn't sit well with my tastes in Burzum & Emperor!
Yes, it is a woman in Chastain, speaking of women singers, you might like this

What about him/these Trent? Almost forgot about Will Haven. Plenty of promise, just been pointed in the direction of the 2015 lp. Rather good.
But then again I'm not very metal.

Also been chuckling along to Arditi recently. I like that, bit like Laibach. Im quite interested in Nazi imagery & things like the Vril & Thule societies (will stress, not right wing in mind though). This martial industrial thing quite appeals.
The black metal band, Marduk teamed up with Arditi - quite like these collaborations.. Pretty grim stuff though, the sort of stuff that clockwork geezer from Hellboy might listen to LOL

You might like these Cheese...
Austrian band, they are sort of Black Metal but use only programmed drums and a lot of sampled orchestration, they basically are obsessed with Tolkien, usually the darker side.. Unusual in that the drums & synths dominate with the guitars being more background. Very unique
The video is fan made (matches it well)
Very atmospheric, hauntingly evil song

More bank holiday blasphemy
Not so much a song as an invocation

Christ, Gorgoroth lol.... we used to rip them so badly when I was at college. They seem to have no discernible talent whatsoever, and no real ability to write music, but they turn it up loud, growl about nothing and then call it music lol (sorry to be harsh)
Bringing it back down a bit:
Racer X - Superheroes
Also, while I was browsing YouTube I found this old video of Halford's solo band (Halford) covering/performing Painkiller. Holy shit, his vocals here are stunning. He's not been able to sing like this for many years. Shame about the guitarist, he can hardly play but wow, Halford's singing makes up for it. It only makes me realize what a waste it was while he wasn't in Priest. Why wasn't he singing Painkiller in Priest while his voice still had some juice left. I know that sounds really harsh on Tim Ripper Owens who I still think is a great singer, but Halford was a genuine stunner up until maybe the last 10 years

one of those bands who never made it big
Sort of a UK Faith No More; a bit of progressive, metal, funk, bits of everything really - tasty bass, good musicianship all round
Sabbat, again who were too offkilter to break big but influenced so many after them

Bit obscure this one
Came on a flexi disc with something like Kerrang
First time Ive heard it in 27 bloody years, couldn't rememember its name and I thought it was a cover of the Aerosmith track when its a FNM original. Decent song

Had a wobble around the Cut earlier and bumped into a MetalMucker I havn't connected with for a few months. He was my aforementioned THE connection back when. Still eulogising about music, re connecting me with the Darker Guitar Arts. Amongst other stuff, spotting reed buntings etc he recommended that I check out this.......
What d'yer reckon Trent?

On the subject of Priest, I was very impressed with the Nostradamus album back in 2008
A mellower song off the album but a great vocal from Rob H
