Really love these from the same era, they've made a comeback - very impressed. Old school metal but with a modern edge - the singer is very theatrical The comeback albums are killer too

Some of the new wave of 70s inspired Occult Rock has impressed me Love all the hard riffs, 70s sounding lead breaks and flute/Hammond organ vibes
Kind of like Jethro Tull with a Ouija board!
The Great God Pan is worthy of Sabbath
Beautiful song..

That's from the same album, their self-titled debut. Nothing they did after that was really worth listening too imo. It's the bands who stayed fresh and relevant after early success who really persevered and prospered. Angel Witch seemed to totally lose the plot after that first album. Racer X - Fire of Rock featuring the boss Paulo Gilberto on guitar.

Is that the guy that sadly developed something along the lines of MND or was it Jason Becker??
These were similar
Proper balls to the wall metal; neither glam nor thrash
Pretty Maides were good at this style too

I think it is for younger listeners; say under 30
Not for old farts like me - they look too much like Hanley night clubbing folk!
Saying that I don't do the metal image myself, never did really apart from t-shirts, black jeans, white hi-tops & a leather jacket. Only had semi-long hair for about 6 months back around 1991 and soon got fucked off with it. Now id be grateful for some of that hair back!!
Still have a preference for wearing black as a hangover from my youth though

Forgotten track
If my memory recalls, think the bass player was the cousin of Mark Hatley.

On the topic of Wolfsbane, this live version of Steel is genuinely better than the studio version. Was never a big fan but they sure knew how to do it live.

Very good stuff but the Metallica one is more of a 'band' thing for me.
For those of an open mind who like a bit of Classical..
I can vouch for this, one of the first things I ever bought off Amazon
Some interesting arrangements

That's a brilliant video. I've always felt Brad Gillis (the guitarist) got such a raw deal. He supposedly learnt RR's set in just 5 days, yet he's never been given any credit whatsoever. Seems Ozzy just didn't like him, perhaps because he wasn't massively metal. You should read Rudy Sarzo's book, it's an excellent read. Apparently Ozzy spent the entire time while Gillis was in the band, drunk off his tits, trying to kick/force him out. There's a very funny part about him bringing in a young Amir Derakh (of Rough Cutt) and saying something like "listen to how good this guy is", so they jammed and apparently he couldn't play in key at all and Ozzy was stood there shouting "this is fantastic" or something along those lines. Apparently Tommy Aldridge was like "who the fuck is this guy? He can't play in key". Ozzy was all but ready to fire Gillis and replace him with Derakh haha. I personally think he's an excellent guitarist and his playing on that DVD is superb. Here's another one of Ozzy's superb guitarists:
