Can't think of one player who outshone his equivalent on the Spurs team. Their midfield killed ours, simply ran through it. Only Affellay came out with any credit. It's not just that though is it? Their players out ran and out fought ours from minute 1. You don't have to be a great footballer to work your bollox off and ours couldn't even be arsed to do that and for what they get paid that is totally and utterly unacceptable and takes the piss out of every one of us mugs who pay to watch them. Time for Hughes to show what he's made of. Top managers don't accept this kind of shit or lack of professionalism . So let's see what he does. BM

Not prepared to say Hughes out then? Getting close, should he have played Ryan again this season ? I don't know, I'm not a medical expert who has dealt with Ryan's injury, and I am not able to asses his fitness from my armchair, are you able to do any of those things from your pig pen?

Putting all the pathetic wrist slashing feint hearted fans to one side in this thread who think they are Stoke fans I would like to read some sensible comments on the poor performance. Well first of all Tottenham showed quite clearly why they are a possible top of the league team. They have some outstanding individual talent with enormous energy playing with the confidence of an early goal that should have been made more difficult. From that moment Stoke battled hard in the first half but unlike Spurs too many of Stoke's talented offensive players went missing. Arnautovic and Shaqiri were so tame as was Imbula and this also pretty much negated the game of Bojan who was ineffective.Well done to Affelay who never gave up. Wollshied was clearly the better of our defenders but Spurs opened us up on too many occasions. Spurs could have led by three at half time. Stoke started better in the second half but they had to take far too many chances opening the play up. Shawcross is not clearly an England quality player on his performance tonight. He was continually caught ball watching and on too many occasions there was a gap right through the middle of our defence. When the second goal came Stoke fell apart. We looked very frail and our confidence and team work just disappeared. It is quite obvious to conclude that we are not as good as we think we are BUT to all you weak minded Stoke fans. We have acquired 47 points already this year with more games to play. We have beaten Chelsea, Man City ,Man United, and Liverpool away in a Cup Semi Final. We do have quality in the team but as yet we have no consistency. It really hurts when we lose like we did tonight but well done Spurs. Roll on next season where I have every confidence that we have tremendous potential to continue our progress but improvement in the defence is essential. Remember! You could be a Villa supporter! Can't disagree too much with that but doesn't alter the fact we have been utter tripe tonight - embarrassing!

Venting is an important part of being a supporter but next weekend we will all be right behind the team again. It's happened this way for years but now with blogs it's immediate feedback either way. So tonight lets get it off our chests and move on. I'm sure that even though the players earn a shit load they will be very pissed off as they drive home tonight. As I have saying for weeks let's blood some youth now even if it's on the bench.

He's either that or one lazy bastard as he never breaks into a sweat Couldn't be arsed He's had one good game since joining us ( the first match ) and has been crap ever since He ran the show at Chelsea.

To be fair to wd, 'wank' covers covers it pretty well, and not for the first home game this season. I briefly deliberated being more eloquent but then decided "wank" was more fitting for that diabolical showing today.

Indeed be nice if they gave a shit as well. Tonight's match must have coincided with an Edl meeting seeing as you didn't go. Edl meeting where was it sorry missed that shame, I would imagine there would have been more passion than we have just witnessed, did you enjoy our masterful defensive display ? marshalled admirably by our potential Player of the season and rock of our defence PW we should without doubt build our future defence around this mercurial talent.

Can we please just end the season here ?? Embarrassingly bad, and ruining all the good things that have happened. God help us at Man City with this defence The thought of Sunderland tearing us a new one at our next home game fills me with dread.I thought we would lose tonight to be honest, but i didn't expect a total capitulation.

Exposed by a big lack of pace through the team - we got exposed for pace through midfield and down our flanks (in short, everywhere !). This needs addressing big time - as someone said above by our midfield and flanks being cut to shreds with their pace coming forward it made life very very difficult for Shawcross/Wolly and also Whelan in front of those 2. Muniesa not good enough as a LB nor Cameron as a RB against a team playing as well as they did down their flanks. I thought Affelay was our best player but defensively in terms of tracking back, he, Imbula and Whelan looked like they were running through treacle where the Spurs midfield just ghosted past them. And, yet again, we really struggle against a side that presses us not just high up the pitch but all over the pitch - they had the pace and desire to press us throughout the whole match. In short, a big well done to Spurs, having watched them a few times they are surely playing the best football in the league but that might not be enough for the title for them. I would like to see them do it - I have something against a team that has gone into administration (Leicester) and left lots of people out of pocket (and probably HMRC too i.e. we have paid for them) who then go on to win the league. We need to regroup, accept we were beaten by an excellent performance from an excellent team gelling so well at the moment and work out our weaknesses. We are also clearly impacted by our inability to field the same starting 11 for consecutive matches - something both Spurs and Leicester have been able to do - and it shows. Let´s hope we can battle back to not let the season completely peter out but we need to focus on sorting out a few key issues in the summer. The fact you want Spurs to win the league ahead of a club our size is outrageous for a proper Stoke fan and I stopped reading your jaundiced opinion at that point. Fuck Spurs, they are a massive club and if they win the league it doesn't give any more hope for us than we have ever had. It may as well be Manchester, Chelsea or Arsenal it's no different. BM

Injuries and consistency have been a huge factor. Tactics and coaching, both inexcusable. Clearly we have a lot of work to do and MH needs to sort out fitness/injuries, tactics, squad cover, and more. BUT nothing but optimism for next season from me and still utmost faith in MH and his team. 0-4 that was just sloppy and absolute lack of attention to the threat. We have gone to the beach for ice cream, kiss me hats, and donkey rides. Hard to give any fucks right now. Too right old' but I don't think it'll be a fortnight at Blackpool they're dreaming about till close of season.

One of the most embarrassing performances since our promotion to the PL! Today's defending as a team was probably the worst I've ever witnessed! We were very lucky to only concede 4, 7 or 8 would really have been just as right tonight. Sort it out Sparkey, this attitude can't be accepted by the team!
