One of the main reasons we threw that away today. He was completely anonymous, as much use as a chocolate tea pot defensively. Leroy Fer completely bossed the last 30 minutes as he was given about 30 yards of space every time he received the ball. He really needs to improve this side of his game. Time and again he failed to track runners.
He looks great when things are going well. When it's backs to the wall stuff? Liability at the moment.

Let's not go too far either way in his first ten games in the country, he started well and has been ok, we need to see what happens this season and then go all out in the summer

Here we go with the 'here we goes'. This isn't me saying 'he's shit', he's had some tremendous showings so far. However, a blind man could see he was lacking defensively today. When the going got tough he went missing. I'm sure he'll develop this side of his game, he's clearly capable but he let Leroy Get completely boss the midfield for the last 30 minutes.

When Whelan went off, Imbula was told to drop stupidly deep almost as a 5th defender. Completely wasted and should have been another 30 yards up the pitch.

Without doubt he's shown enough to say he's a top player. Not one of his best games but I'm pretty sue we'll see the best of him next season.

some of the above posts... well i'm not sure if they are serious or not.
he might not have had a great game but if any of the above comments are genuine misgivings, then i'm unsure as to what the poster motives may be
he's a great player, and there will be far more good games than bad.

Talented but still a lot to learn about the English game to be worth his fee he needs to boss the midfield at 2-0 and help us kill the game , early days still though for him

Dropping two goals to 2 deflections is really nobody's fault, they all need to do better to close players down better

I don't think hes particularly good defensively and I think there were quite few examples of that today. Otherwise he did okay.

For a midfield player he lets players run off him far too easily for my liking.

The guy deserves an off day after all the good he's done. Bound to happen. At that point it's the off the field team's job to see the problem and substitute him.

Perhaps the goalkeeper is not to blame, but crikey there were enough people playing like schoolgirls in that fifteen minute period to share plenty of blame.

Serious point after my naughty one above. People are forgetting how injured Glenn is. A doubt before the game and clearly not fit.
It shows how important he is because without him or without him at 100% we struggle in there.
The team needs him and Imbula needs him. That's no slight on Imbula.

How often to deflections drift harmlessly wide? Obviously there were mistakes made but it's not like we kicked the ball in to our own net

Imbulas defensive side of the game is not his best point, hence why he didn't succeed at Marseille as they had him holding midfield. Whelan was injured today and he usually helps out imbula more, but too call him out is a disgrace. We knew when he signed what kind of player he was so don't question him. I really REALLY do hate stoke fans at times. Bring back delap and diao, or maybe Amdy Faye?
