We need the love child of diouf and fuller. Dioufs positioning is in my opinion fantastic. His finishing needs to be worked on and his natural pace aling with positioning causes so many problems for defences. Throw in fullers tricks and finishing we have the striker we need.... Any budding biologists who want to make a name for themselves get on this ASAP!! Fuller in his prime in this time would be truly awesome to see!

The story with Diouf is hes brilliant with his head and generally awful shooting with his foot.
Well over 60% of his goals for us I believe have come from his noggin.
Exactly the same yesterday. 2 volleys were awful but his header was never in doubt.
If the other 2 chances had gone to his head im sure he would have got a hat-trick

I watched MOTD last night and all the so-called 'top strikers' missed gilt edged chances. 4 goals from 10 starts equates to a 15 goal a season striker, so what is there to moan about with Diouf? Loved it when Hughes and Bowen gave him a big hug and had a giggle with him when he was subbed. The lad has gone through hell and back and he needs that sort of stuff to mend his broken heart. I'm dead chuffed for the lad, and I'll bet a tenner now he'll be even better next season. So well done Mame.
OS.

Exactly the same yesterday. 2 volleys were awful but his header was never in doubt. If the other 2 chances had gone to his head im sure he would have got a hat-trick What about his 2 goals against bin dippers? First one a real poachers goal, second a fantastic strike from the edge of the box; and against West Brom, when he let the ball run across him before planting it in the net; and against Tottenham, a near-post finish from Arnie's cross, later contrived to be an "own goal" The first half chances weren't easy, the first he was stretching for after bursting into the box, the second was at an awkward height (why didn't Arnie's just nod it in?) Diouf works as hard as (if not harder than) Walters, but he gets in some great positions to score and given a run in the team, will score more than he misses.

The lack of a top quality striker is definitely the difference between us and finishing 6 or 7.Diouf has consistently missed easy chances ever since he joined. Playing him more isn't the answer. Yesterday if he had been more clinical we would have been looking at 3 pts rather than one. I like him but squad player at best. If we start next season with him as no1 strike option we ain't going to progress.

dEAR COUSIN - Thats a fair opinion
My opinion, after a slow start where I questioned him - hes now good for 15 - 20 goals a season if, consistently played as the main striker.
and thats not too shabby
BUT - you'd have to pay 'buckets' to get better, with a guaranteed superior return

I like him Tony and wouldn't want to see him gone. But the chances he missed yesterday really should be put away and it happens on a regular basis. Yes better will cost shed loads but if we really have the ambition then when you look at the teams we aspire to compete with they have that stellar goal scorer. We have players such as Butland Shawcross Inmbula Affelay Shaq Arnie Bojan who are as good or better than many players in the top 6 teams, striker wise we look below par for that level.

First chance yesterday definitely wasnt easy - second was a bad miss
then - he put one away when it counted and, did not shirk

I would give him one season as our only number 10 I think he would surprise a few. 15-20 bracket for me.
My god it would be frustrating though. Whilst I like him he frustrates me more then arnie, or shaqiri not taking on a man. It's his movement not his finishing that is important to us

The fact that they're both black is literally the only thing they have in common. Black, good in the air, inconsistent, decent dribbling skills and terrible finishing. Jones is a target man. Diouf is best suited to playing on the shoulder of the last defender. Diouf runs his bollocks off. Jones emphatically didn't. I wouldn't say either had decent dribbling skills. Jones had that one surge at Wolves on his debut. Diouf had his goal at Eastlands. For the most part you'd struggle to get a decent first touch out of the pair of them. Consistency and finishing isn't something any of our strikers are blessed with is it?

We have players such as Butland Shawcross Inmbula Affelay Shaq Arnie Bojan who are as good or better than many players in the top 6 teams, striker wise we look below par for that level. Another striker wouldn't go a miss because Crouch and Walters aren't exactly prolific but I think you are being very harsh in your assessment of Diouff. Have you stopped and given some thought about why he might have missed those chances yesterday? He's hardly played any football lately and is bound to be rusty, if he was on a run in the side then I'd agree that he perhaps should be burying at least one of those chances, but the bloke has hardly played any football lately and when he has he hasn't been playing in his rightful position. Last season showed us that he can be the 15-20 goal a season man we need if he has a full season as our main man up front. Yes he misses chances but who doesn't and I don't think it's as simple as just going out and splashing the cash on a big money centre forward to solve our goalscoring issues. For a club in our position a 15-20 goal a season striker isn't to be sniffed at and is just about what you'd expect and Diouff, in my opinion is for now that man.

He also has an important role playing in front of defenders who are not 100% fit. At one point yesterday I feared that Geoff was injured, Mame would have been "best fit" to play that role

Diouf works incredibly hard for the team. I would say that he outworks Walters who is the epitomy of 'workmanlike'
He gets into great positions and has a knack of finding the back of the net.
What is there not to like?
He is a great asset.
If he was much better he would be at Barca, not Stoke.

The flip side is with him and afew of our players if he was consistent we would have vultures swirling the club every season.

The problem is when Mame plays, just like when Walters plays, there are a few on here that for the life of them can't see what else they bring to the team! We know they are not prolific strikers, Walters should get at least 10 and Mame 15-20 a season which he has proved he can do given a proper run in the team but they also do so much more than just sit in the box waiting for a chance to come along! Mame was everywhere yesterday, ran his knackers off for the team, defending when needed and then popping up for a goal and a couple of chances! Due to the year he has had you would think he would be cut some slack, oh no not on here!
