Not many thought Wooly was but look how he's turned out, I know he's not the finished article but he has got promise. I hope your right mate. Without sounding big headed I'm never usually wrong though He did ok in Singapore thought he showed some promise but seems to have stalled a bit. He's still a young lad yet though seems a no nonsense type rather than a ball player but I did like the fact he stood and took one in the face rather than duck out.

Many other players would have bottled it.

Let's not go overboard - he did ok as part of a massed back 8. Used his size and showed his bravery. Didn't try anything fancy with the ball, if it was in front of him he just whacked it, which in the circumstances was exactly the right thing to do

Did OK but still 6th choice CB for me.
Imagine how high up the table we'd be if we had Leicester's injury record this year.

About two weeks ago, I asked the question why he wasn't getting game time when we were so short of players in central defence. The response, largely, was that he is not good enough. Now I know the old saying "One swallow does not mean she won't spit next time" but as far as goes, should we not have drafted him in sooner?

i wish some people would give some of our players achance.now all the doubters have been proved WRONG I came to this thread to post exactly that, but now I won't bother. Tex is a great player for the future and he's shown that today. Perhaps as fans we could all now give him our support. I appreciate footballers are on a lot of money, but money isn't everything. Knowing the fans are behind you can make all the difference.

To me he has got more potential than Muni in central defence! He can run at least!

Come on Clyde give the lad a break he was not that bad. Just my opinion mate. I don't think he's anywhere near good enough to be a premiership footballer. A cracking win glosses over this. I'm happy for him get some credit though. I just dunna rate him. I'd love be proven wrong though by him Your glass is totally half fucking empty isn't it.

He's a back up player. All you can ask your back up players is to give you a decent performance if and when they're called upon and he didn't disappoint today.

He was solid enough, took no chances in possession, but lost his man a time or two. Let's not pretend, though, that he is "the answer" and that Hughes did not drop a major bollock in not bringing in a centre back in January, especially with Muniesa's injury record.I applaud Wolly even more - he may have been still carrying a knock last weekend, and faced a rampant Everton, so any criticism may have been a tad harsh, but this week he stood out as a leader in Ryan's absence. Good post. Personally I was totally shocked we didn't bring one in during pre-season, but didn't want to sound negative.

Muni. Wilson. and Tex who would have thought they would all get injured.

Agree, he did well under the circumstances and played well but lost his man a couple of times, him and Erik a bit too far off for their goal.

Good post. Personally I was totally shocked we didn't bring one in during pre-season, but didn't want to sound negative. I can see the point but we have 6 players who could play. Ryan. Wooly. Geoff. Muni. Wilson. and Tex who would have thought they would all get injured. When the Jan window opened, Muni was still injured (and even before today looked injury prone) and Geoff was playing in MF. Tex wasn't considered remotely good enough, (and to be honest, despite what's been said on this thread, I'll still be sh!tting myself if he has to start), which meant our cover for CH & LB was Wilson. Few people on here seem to rate Wilson as good enough. We should have at least been considering looking for some better cover, even on a short-term loan. Geoff getting injured should, in my view, have made it a priority. By the time Shawcross got injured it was probably too late. Wilson getting crocked added to our woes, as did Muni going off today - though I can't say it was a surprise to see Muni pulling up again. The situation we're in now could, and should, have been avoided. Just my opinion.
