One of the most unadventurous, anaemic, downright wank displays of attacking football under Hughes. They managed the game out with a cigar on whilst picking us off at will. Even had time to laugh and high five each other after Huths horrendous free kick.
Wilson will take the headlines but let's look at the real issues.
An utterly horrendous attacking display.

The game was lost before kick off with that team.
And some people think a wide player isn't a priority.

Lack of pace throughout the team particularly in the final third haunts us regular.

I agree we didn't look like scoring but we didn't look like conceding until Ryan went off.

We need 4 good players; a CB, a midfielder with a fucking clue, a winger and a proper fucking forward. Wilson is dire, Walters isn't good enough. Spend some fuckeyed money on quality.

Hughes has to take a massive amount of blame for that shit today.
His obsession for playing Diouff out wide is really starting to piss me off now.

Those saying we don't need a striker and centre half, today proves we do.

We have trodden a very fine line all season in my opinion Some great stuff and some very mediocre fare. Today we have very much come down on the side of the latter - clueless in many departments (well all departments to be honest). Basically we are a mid-table outfit and talk of top 6 / Europe is very premature.

I can count on one hand the amount of times I think our performances have been anything like the majority of games last season.
I don't understand why we are still discussing the same problems all over again...
- No wing cover - Whelan does not offer enough pace in midfield, I'm sick and tired of watching him turn back or let players pass round him - No cover for Shawcross, Wolscheid is not good enough on his own, STILL - Marc Wilson is still not good enough - No balance in the front 4, 3 strikers on the pitch and not one shot until the 60th? minute, not good enough - We don't attack anything like last year and for me that stems with how fast we move the ball through midfield, without a 15 goal a season striker we can't mess about in transition - The squad is still full of passengers - Far, far to static. Comparatively to Leicester, Liverpool we look like statues
I really would rather see some of Shenton, Telford, Ngoy, Verlinden, Moha, Molina get on the bench that some that shower today.
Sparkys hands were tired with what he could put out but we still haven't answered the longer term questions about the squad.
We will look back on this season as an opportunity missed, you don't win games by not scoring. I imagine that is the last time we will see ourselves in 7th, especially if Ryan is out. Which if he is id be pleased to see us finish top 10 as other sides have the quality, goals and consistency to push them back up the table. Chelsea, Southampton etc

I appreciate that Joselu had been doing well and I appreciate that we are struggling for wide options but under no circumstances what so ever should Diouff be starting a game out wide. And I disagree entirely that he played well last time he was out there.

I think Hughes got it totally wrong, 3 forwards and only 2 in midfield, Charlie or van ginkel should have played along side whealan, and why bring crouch on and take Shaq off? When Hughes gets it wrong he certainly gets it wrong!

Muni was available but Wilson picked ahead of him. Of course Wilson isn't to blame for such an abysmal performance but he has proved to be a liability time without number. Our need as the window opened was for an alternative left winger and a solid defensive midfielder. Nothing from today has changed that. Muni or Cameron are available to fill in so CB not a priority this window but today showed how fragile midfield is and if Wilson is the answer at CB we need to change the question.

We were better when the forward line was finally put in order, 45 minutes too late. Unfortunately, we have the best centre back in England and a load of others who can't hold a candle to him. We have 8 days to buy a proper centre back.

The only thing missing is the money from Stoke City FC's coffers to buy a real CB like the one we sold to Leicester a real "professional." Marc Wilson has been pinching a living for about two years now... Can't pass, Can't defend, Can't mark, Ball watches, Doesn't close space... Fresh from the bench hasn't played for weeks, has the effort of an 80 year old man trying to run to block their first goal... Side foots it and deflects it into our own net... You'd expect someone on that kind of money to do at least one of those mentioned defensive qualities... It's at the point we'd be better off bringing up a kiddie and releasing the git.

Wilson is poor, but he had plenty of competition today. The balance of the team was all wrong - too many forwards, too light in the middle of the park, lacking proper width. Then we lose the rock on which our defence is built!!!!
One week to buy a centre back, a box to box midfielder, another wide man and a striker who can take chances.......good luck Leslie!

The fundamental issue is a lack of quality and breadth in the squad. We have cover at centre half but it's not good enough. We have zero cover on the wings, so have to play strikers out there... It was the combination of those two elements that led to us being outclassed today.

We have 8 days to buy a proper centre back. We let one go before the start of this season, signed one who is not as good as the one we sold, this was always going to bite us in the bollocks with Ryan's back problems.

Its almost like Hughes picked todays team to prove a point to Coates. If that has any truth he needs a massive public bollocking from the chairman, people suggested that Pulis did this sort of thing if true no wonder he was sacked, embarrassing performance today orchestrated by the manager.
