I've praised him on another post, but this lad is the bees knees. I've not seen a quality midfield player like him in a long, long time. He is IMHO a pleasure to watch. Long may it continue!

Frig me.
This guy is insane.
Hope he is feeling the fans love.
He seems to create himself the freedom of the field every time he has possession.

He's truly found his role in that midfield role.
Brilliant again today.

He was imperious today. My MOM by a distance. Always seems to have so much time on the ball & as others have said seems to be improving with every game.

But Afellay can't control his temper, he isn't a winger, isn't a midfielder, can't play deep, can't play in the hole, can't tackle, can't pass, takes too long on the ball, breaks up our attacking play, ruins our tempo... He just quite clearly isn't cut out for the English game, he's past it.

Most touches and passes for us today. No surprise he is class. Him Cameron and Whelan compliment each other so well

Today was the first time I've thought maybe we don't actually need a Nzonzi replacement.
Maybe we actually have one already.
In fact....maybe we already have a bloody big upgrade.
He was outstanding today. Presence, poise, desire, class and just all round excellence.
He's a completely different player to the one I thought we'd signed (a flying winger) and totally different to the one we saw early in the season (a player struggling to fit in and find form).
He's a serious player and seems to understand how to play that link role and has the outstanding technical ability to do it so well.
I was stunned at how good he was today.
PS Cameron was the bollocks too. What an athlete.

Rumour has it he once misplaced a pass in 2009. Nah, it was to Messi and Lionel mistimed his run. Affelay's pass was spot on

Just shows what happens when he is played in his proper role! when he signed he was used as a winger and he got slated..Anyone with even the smallest bit of footballing knowledge outside of the UK knows Afellay is no winger and never has been.
now being played in his proper role and we are all seeing the results

A top, top footballer who always looks to move the ball forward and quickly, Johnson was a great signing but this lad is even more of a bargain.

We are short a song for Affellay.
can we recycle the 'abdoulaye my lord' song?
Maybe amend it to:
"Affellay my lad, Affellay, Affellay my lad, Affelay, Affellay my lad, Affellay, Top lad, Affellay!"
All in favour?

Just on the theme of getting the rewards if you have a bit of patience with new players - I thought Van Gink gave a strong hint when he came on that he is starting to get to grips with this league. Happy days.

MOM for me. What an absolutely brilliant player he is. Oozes class his vision is fantastic and isn't scared of getting stuck in. He is the complete player. Am I right in saying he was only signed on a 2 year contract? If he was it needs extending. 2 years extension now please!

Have to say he's been a wow for the last few games. My MOM today again but tremendous performances from others as well, Ryan and Woolly superb, Butland excellent when he needed to be. Big shout all round. Hands up I was really wondering why we signed him first few games but now he's the first name I look for when team announced. Just shows you need to bed in. Just need Shaq to do same now and he's getting there but still a way to go.

Like with Johnson this guy is making me eat that much humble pie I'm feeling permanently sick !! (and I'm glad to be proven wrong) Afellay is technically fantastic and has the ball on a string. His determination is also very impressive, a quality I wasn't expecting him to have. Keep it up pal !

He was a Frenchman. Had one decent season and a couple of ok ones. Made a big noise every year about leaving. Shrugged a lot and seemed moody. Crablike.

It's a bit harsh to kick the man when he's injured, but you're right, I'm often left thinking "do we really need Stephen Ireland anymore?" .. I presume you meant Steven?

The only thing about him... His shooting is poor.
Maybe he is an Nzonzi replacement after all.
