Looks like we're the only premiership team to keep the same team which is surprising for me,time will tell if it's the correct decision

Hughes has made the right call and I am not surpised there are no changes when you consider the games coming up.
Looking at the next two games, Everton is far more suited to our usual attack. Everton will come on to us and be more open, like Man Utd and Man City have been recently, that will give them more space and the chance hopefully to hit them on counter attacks.
West Brom will be like Palace and Watford lately. West Brom will pack men behind the ball and let us have possession again. They will not look to come out and play football. They will rely on physical presence once we hit their final third, turn over possession and move it quickly to their man up top, with their wingers getting up to him quickly. Clearly they will also be pumping up long balls and looking to win set pieces. The West Brom game will require the physicality and tracking back that Walters and Diouf can bring, and possible Adam or Van Ginkel in place of Affelay, West Brom will be a battle where one goal will win it.
Today will hopefully be a very god finely poised game between two teams of similar standard both looking to play attacking football.
COME ON STOKE

Everton find it difficult to beat anyone outside the bottom half, naturally it means we'll be the ones to buck that trend and lose 4-0 But we are in the bottom half, eleventh out of twenty.

After reading some of the shit remarks that have been made on their forum, I sincerely hope you're bang on with your prediction. Is there a link to what they have been saying? I looked yesterday on thegrandoldteam website and couldn't find a lot, except for a lot of them being a bit up their own arses and looking down their noses at us. Someone suggested that Everton were at a similar level, and were a similar club, to Stoke, Palace and Leicester and it was like a blue touchpaper moment. They really think that they are a top five club in a false postion and should be wiping their arses with clubs like ours. Tha was the keyboard warriors anyway; all Everton fans I meet in the flesh are sound fellas.

Very suprising.
Whelan and Shaq apparently came off with niggles and they're playing 2 days later. Really hope that the players aren't too fatigued.
However, in Hughes we trust.

That team will play for the first hour. Expect Adam, Diouf and MVG on at various points in the second half.

Great team obviously. Resting the players on Christmas day seems to have worked. If I look at this game on paper a draw would be great but I'm a greedy sod. Come on Stoke lets get the 3 points and start that rise up the table and add to all the nice words in the press lately.

Why are people surprised that we are not resting players at the peak of their physical powers, who train every day of the week almost? They are not wilting flowers! Because it's the busiest time of the calendar, three players went off with injuries last game and we have some of our biggest games of the season coming up? We might well be fine but surely you can see an argument for resting one or two?

I think sticking with the same team could prove costly, I hope I'm wrong. I'm praying for no injuries today

The right call from Hughes, this 11 have been fantastic in recent weeks and all deserve their place. I'm sure we will see Diouf, MVG and maybe Walters at some point today but better to start with the winning team to build some momentum.

Come on Stoke. It was brilliant to be at the Brit for the boxing day mauling (for 30 minutes) of Man U but now back in Houston and watching on a stream. You would have to be happy with a point here but I reckon the lads are perfectly equipped for this one as Everton cannot defend and attack in numbers. Shaq to get a couple today ? I hope so. Share the wealth Arnie, share the wealth......
Goooaaaannnnnn Stoke

Wasn't expecting an unchanged team at all, shocked. Why not? Everton played later than us on Saturday.

I think there will be at least 4 changes against West Brom.
Just hoping it doesn't backfire today as there were at least three who picked up niggly injuries.

Go on Stoke - let's have a right go at these today.
They blow hot and cold at home like us - early goal and we can dictate the play...
