It was a battle of the midfield in the 1st 3/4, which we did well in. I know footie isn't neccessarily about entertainment. But Were you not entertained!?! I am satisfied with an away point against a mid-table rival. However, I wasn't especially entertained - we need more goals. 3-3 would have been a lot more entertaining - personal preference I suppose. KU, Do you live in Yanksville... You know were this is goingXx

I can see a £20M bid coming in for Jack this summeer and I really can't see us saying no if he wants to go. As said it will be up to him, but unless we get a place in Europe what are our chances of keeping him? I'm not so sure this talk about Hart being miles ahead of him is right either as I think Jack has been the best in the league so far! I guess money will talk in the end. He Speaks well. He is WITHOUT DOUBT the best English Goalkeeper at the moment. Eventually I think he will play for Real, Barcelona, Bayern etc - He really is that good. His agent will be working feverishly to manufacture a move in the Summer. Stoke will probably sell for a Paltry £13 Million-ish. Hope I'm wrong about him moving and/or the transfer fee.

There are potential penalties in every game at the weekend but if there is a chance to blacken Ryan's name, the fucking press take it. It's getting beyond a joke.
Fair play to Bilic for saying no penalty.

Ironically your not a neutral ............... I'm not and I'm over critical of everything Stoke......But I thought we looked a far better football team than you today. We created chances through decent football you looked half threatening from set play. 22 out of 34 attempts suggests we were in the game. Were you there BTW? You might want to remember Zarate hitting the post or the last touch of the game being a clearance off the line from under the bar both from free play?? But hey, you win on style

We saw two half decent sides today but we are far more decent than you in my opinion

Not seen any of the game but it sounded like we squandered a few really good chances,is that not the case? Did West Ham create much? Van Ginkel missed 2 chances early on- one of them was a sitter! Arnie had a good chance too but just put it wide. Diouf had 2 great chances towards the end but shot straight at the keeper both times. Zarate hit the post and Carroll had a few tame headers. They didn't really have another other chances I don't think.
My heart was in my mouth on a number of occasions....imagining us losing the game to one of their few chances (see above)....it's always been Stoke's way of bringing us fans back down to earth - losing the 'unlosable' game.
In my opinion.....had any one of their chances gone in....we would have lost......BUT if any of our early chances gone in, I think we would have done 'em 3-0
Just my opinion, like

Needs to play in the Euros not just keep the bench warm. Even a dead rubber game is better than nowt.
Don't know what international friendlies we have coming up but some time in those would be good, can't expect him to drop in mid tournament with a back four he hasn't played with if Hart gets injured.

Top man.

Get a grip. Yes it's frustrating at times but you don't need to rip every game apart, good and bad. You don't but we're joint lowest scorers in the league, so probably the country so it's clearly an issue. It's not ripping it apart anyway. We missed fuck tonnes of good chances, it summed up our finishing nicely. It'll be bothering Hughes massively but I'm not sure there's much he can do about it. Arnie is a pretty piss poor finisher, Diouf isn't agreat finsiher, Walters isn't a great finisher (being kind with both), Shaq so far isn't, Bojan doesn't get as many chances as the others. So it's hard to change Didn't you say that we don't need new strikers in another thread?

I like Diouf. His work rate is excellent and the pressure he puts in defenders creates chances that very few others in the side would be able to do. I have always believed the biggest criticism with him is the lack of quality with the ball at his feet with his first touch and his finishing letting him down but put the ball on his head and the it usually ends it in the back of the net. However if he was as good with his feet as he is with his head then he wouldn't be playing for Stoke. He will always be the kind of player to both get goals and also frustrate in equal measure.

If we had gone one up its hard to say we would have finished strongly as sometimes we just hang on. The main talking point is how strong our defence is. We have the best defence in the EPL bar Arsenal. Another game without conceding a goal for Ryan. I hope Roy was watching as it was a game in London but highly unlikely.

There's a big difference between a striker and a natural goalscorer..about £25 million difference. And even if we had that sort of money could we attract someone like that to Stoke? So if not Diouf..Who? Expecting Diouf to convert every chance is like expecting a one-legged man to continuously win every arse kicking contest he enters. Unrealistic. All I know is when I see him with a chance to make a difference I close my eyes. Thankyou Diouf you cost me £ss again. We really need a top goal scorer, to be fair to mark he's not a first choice anyway. Put it this way if we tried to sell him I bet know one in the premiership would give a monkeys to buy him. FFS. For the last three weeks everyone was bleeting for him to start. He comes on for 30 minutes and he's expected to succeed where everyone else failed. A bit unrealistic considering his long layoff.

It has nothing do with birth or mother. Even on form id back him fuck up a 1v1 He worth a start as even though he seems to miss sitters regularly it better to have him missin em than walters etc who wouldnt have been in the position to miss it. As harsh as it sounds when i watch him it like attrition where you think he cant fuck them all up so may grab one. If he could finish hed be worth 5x whatnhe is now. He really is a confusing player to watch as he good at bieng in the right place A better caneron jerome is a fair descripriom

Apart from Stein & Shearon, I can't remember when we last had a prolific striker. Remember when Shawcross used to score from corners & throw-ins. We talk about our binary season, but score wise, we're still there. I felt we could have scored at any point yesterday, just didn't happen & it's as far as you like from when we used to park the busXx

Just watched his chances again.
Christ we don't half overanalyze things these days.
Chance one - he does nowt wrong and keeper makes a decent save.
Chance two - he could have taken a touch and gone around the keeper BUT yet again his attempt is on target. Yes, it's scuffed, but they're often the ones keepers struggle with.
Strikers miss chances. Even the best. Even the ones in form. Lukaku missed a total sitter yesterday despite being a top player in great form.
Stick by Mame. Encourage him. Praise his determination and character. I'm confident he'll do very well for us in the future.
PS I'm well aware I've just added to the over-analysis I began by bitching about!!!

Over the last few weeks we have really clicked, they were two poor finishes by Diouf especially the second one when Adrian gambled and went to his right. Probably a bit rusty today, but even when at the top of his game wouldn't guarantee he would of scored either of them. I believe we are only a top striker 15-20 goal man away from top six maybe even top 4, happy days though

He had very little time with the first chance. He decided to take it very early and got off a decent shot which was met by a decent save.
He could have tried to get round the keeper with the second chance but space was going to be tighter if he did, and as most of us have said at one time or other, he does not really have the best close dribbling skills. He decided to hit it early. He did scuff it a little, but it was on target and was close to creeping through the keeper's legs where most successful one on ones usually end up. The second finish was very similar to the solo goal at Citeh last year; no one slagged his finishing then. Sometimes they go in, sometimes the keeper gets a bit lucky.
If he had skied it or put it wide (plenty of Premiership strikers do every week) I could understand the criticism.
If Butland had made the saves Adrian made yesterday we would be praising him not laughing at their inept striker.

I like Diouf as a player, but we need a clinical finisher. He should have scored from at least one of his chances and someone like Austin or Remy would have. Diouf will still score goals, and gets into great positions, but he isn't someone I'd back more times than not in a one on one with the keeper.
