I reckon MH would've learnt a lot from tonight. Think we'll go into the second leg with a centre forward and be more direct. They looked pretty ropey themselves at times inthe second half. We were pretty shit though - no denying... I'd go into the second leg exaxtly the same style. Klopp isn't dumb. But I don't think even he can convince his players to stand deep in a home game against Stoke.

We can still get to Wembley. That's the spirit! Sure, we've lost the first leg, but we are better than we showed tonight. They are inconsistent, too. I agree, we aren't out of this.

The only thing dog shite tonight is your support. Good effort at a fight back in the second half I thought we were unlucky in the end and just off the pace a little. Couple good signings and that second leg is ours, 1 goal deficit is nothing

Piss poor 1st half. Better 2nd but still not great.
That said, still in it with the ludicrous away goals rule in play!

We were far too predictable from the off. Liverpool did their homework and just worked very hard to close us down. We just ran up cul-de-sacs all night. It could have been considerably worse, however we still have a mountain to climb.

They exposed our biggest weakness tonight. We do not have ball playing centre halfs. A little bit of pressure and its long ball to Bojan, a misplaced pass, loss of possession.....time and time again. Do you not think that was because they closed down the midfield to prevent the CH's from playing it out? Our centre halves are the least of our worries...ball playing or not.

We lost that match because Hughes should of rotated the squad vs wba. Nah he could have rotated the whole team and we still would have lost 1-0 not our day at all - its a follow on from Saturday too

Your name suits you. This defeat and the way we played had nothing to do with ball playing centre halves. In fact both of them were pretty good on the ball tonight with their passing thanks, I thought I was the only one thinking that.

Unfortunately I can only think of johnson who had a decent game. Taking Shaq off to bring crouch on was a strange one. Shaq should cross to crouch surely? Shaqs crosses never happen ,even at corners hes shooting

There's goals to be had at Anfield that's for sure. Pretty poor night tonight but you get those in football. I honestly don't think it's anything to do with attitude, we're definitely still in this tie. On to Doncaster!

Should have been Glen Johnson, only one who played anything like he usually does. Reminded me of the FA Cup final, an utter damp squib. Amazing how opinions differ, I thought Johnson was poor tonight

Deserved nothing from that. Players looked very tired, the front threes' touch and passing was way off and even with their best player and best centre half off after half an hour we did nothing. Liverpool gave us no space, pressed very well and finished when it counted.
No Diouf was a big disappointment for me if he's not injured. His pace against Kolo Toure was needed and his aerial ability against Lucas would've made things much more interesting I feel. I think he would've been perfect for that game.
Still, we're only 1-0 down at half time; we're capable of winning the second on the 26th.

That's why we need a new striker. We'll still do them over 2 legs. I don't think we do. We just need to setup better from the start. I'm sure we'll do better 2nd leg in terms of creating chances. Fair enough. We're on the same page as far as hope for the second leg(see my previous post.)

Very disappointing tonight, Its only half time though. Disagree that we need a striker mind! Players are just fucked. We're screaming for a better midfielder than whats available for a good while now. Better chance creation equals more goals, basic football maths. Goin Anfield 1-0 down from the off isn't ideal, but I still fancy us. Sparky's gotta give them a bollocking, we want this more than the other 3 currently left in the compotition, thats a fact.

Out played and out thought in the first half. Improved a bit in the 2nd. Relatively pleased to be only 1 down and therefore technically still in with a chance. There is definitely work to be done though - it was far too predictable tonight. Hope some players aren't being fooled into believing some of the hype that has gone on.

3 hammys for Liverpool is a bit crazy.
Surely a lesson here for Hughes about the need for squad rotation.
Im sure he will admit he got the West Brom line-up wrong and we should have kept our first team fresher for tonight.

No There front 4 put our back 4 under pressure. That left 2 midfielders to our 3 (Whelan, Affelay and Cameron). Our centre halfs can't pick a pass though so it ended up getting lumped forward. Everyone knows Klopps teams press. We just turn up and hope they won't.
