We need to start taking risks. At the moment it's like we're terrified of taking risks and going for the killer ball and would rather knock it sideways to keep possession for posessions sake.
Possession doesn't automatically win you games. It's what you do with it that counts. We need to adapt better to who we're playing and mix it up with the long ball as well as more intricate stuff. We have some very talented players we just need to use them correctly and be more flexible.

Not forgetting that it allows the Walters hating brigade to fill their boots. Always tricky for you lads if he has a decent game, which he invariably does. Oh well, fill your boots as they say. He lives off a decent game longer than anyone. He was the worst player on the pitch today. Won 1 header all game, didn't close down, didn't run the channels, didn't cause the worst centre half in the league a single problem and missed yet another sitter from barely 3 yards out. Defend him all you like but he is what he is. If he's a regular in our starting 11, we will never be as good as we believe we can be. Surrounded by talented footballers he looks like a lost puppy. You mean the talented players who never created a chance

But no end product, it's been the story of the season so far. When Arnie or Shaquiri got the ball ,you were waiting for them to go past there man, they just didn't try. Agree. They need to be find the confidence to risk losing the ball, if it means they will occasionally show a defender a clean pair of heels. Don't you think it's also because they are much more comfortable cutting inside? The fullbacks shade to the inside, cutitng that option out and darjng them to go outside - why they don't go that way is very strange. Don't the coaches see this? And why don't they switch wings, which would allow them to go to the byline and cross? What are we all missing?

Complete and utter tools the lot of them. My eyes were hurting reading some of that. Are they all 10 years old? I've seen better banter at my lads nursery.

He saw it incredibly late Dave, no blame from me.
Quite possibly. I was surprised it went in pretty centrally but it looked to go straight through the blocker. Who the blocker was, I'm interested to observe. I think was Walters breaking off from the two man wall. He jumped a bit in the air but didn't turn his back. Can't really critcise. Butland saw it late. Although I do criticise him for their second. Keepers seem to have lost the knack of standing up big and saving it with feet. De Gea was the same tonight....they are all doing this crap long barrier shit.

It was all too static around the edge of the their box. If a full-back doesn't overlap, which they can't everytime, there's no-one else making any dangerous runs and so we're easy to defend against.

Walters goes stale when given an extended run, see 2011-2013.He always seems better when he has a point to prove, ie when he has a spell on the bench. I think SJW apart (he was not the reason for today alone), that defeat might do us some good. Bit of complacency creeping in? With 11 men I didn't think they had enough beat us, not a great threat (nor were we to be fair) but there is no way we would have lost that game. Dean has done us with the sending off. Shit happens, move on to Tuesday.

We controlled the game. You had one chance. Sending off made little difference Yeah, of course you did. Allardyce did what our ex manager did years ago. 10 men behind the ball, hit and hope something drops. It did and well done. I thought you said Sam had no plan.

Walters shows his limitations again. I dont think he's going to be in the team for a while....at least I hope not. God knows what we are planning to do with him for 2.5 years. Him and Crouchy must be very good in the dressing room! Unfortunately, we said that last week!

Yawn. The wrist slashers are getting all pissy again. Yes we need a striker & more goals. But we dominated possession with 10 men - and Sunderland took long enough to make their extra man (achieved by conning a ref who wanted to send Ryan off anyway) count. The biggest surprise today wasn't the result at a ground where we are guaranteed to get fuck all, it was the stark realization that Sunderland are so fucking wank they couldn't even convince that spineless little spunk stain Mike Dean to send anymore Stoke players off and go on to dick us 5-0 !! Bring on Sheffield Wednesday.

My dad thought he should. I thought he saw it late. Agree someone should have closed the shot down. I'm looking forward to seeing the goal again. Someone was attempting to close the shot down. They just didn't do a very good job of it, reacting to the danger far too late. From my shit seat at the back of that god forsaken away end, I couldn't tell who it was. Exactly as I suspected, mr j Walters cost us at both ends of the pitch. Late to get out to block the shot then turned his back

Sunderland's fortuitous win will give them a false sense of their ability to climb the table. They're actually woefully short on quality and Mike Dean won't be their referee every Saturday .

We think we're Arsenal of old, trying to walk the ball into the net Bingo! It's annoyingly the truth. That's exactly right. We are not good enough for this tippy-tappy stuff. Teams like Sunderland will just stcik seven or eight players in front of the penalty area and watch us all day. We need to inject some pace, take some risks and mix it up. We're way too predicatble.

A disappointing result. Ryan should have used a bit more sense, but let's be honest - it wasn't entirety his fault was it ? The cheating little mackem cunt conned a ref who's as bent as Sepp Blatter when it comes to officiating Stoke City. Had that not happened I'm dead certain we'd have returned with at least 1 point. I'm not too down about it tbh. Next up is Sheff Weds and a great chance to to take another step towards some silverware. UTMP

Typical Stoke. Bad start then decent run to get us back to where we should be but our star players are in consistent. Must be a worry for Hughes, particularly after that loss today

Same ground usual result. But the bit that grated me more was fat Sam doing a pulis on the touchline. As you recall pulis lost any semblance of respectibility after his antics at the brit and this was no different. A disgrace by the fat fuck. He did? what he do jump and run around? Missed that. It's been a long, long time since Fat Sam did any running and jumping. Now he just does a lot of chewing, waddling and slobbering. He also explains why Owl-Face is the England manager. After Roy, he's next best available!

Sticking with this forum as you do Haway I think you are entitled to post a youtube clip of a Johnny Weismuller Tarzan call this eve. Wouldn't begrudge you that. {others would.} I like the way you utilized the 3-5-2. Cheers haha, but I'll just stick to smiling at comments that seem like sour grapes Sunderland are fucking rubbish Like this one Yeah you got me bang to rights there mate!!

Just got back so I'm a bit late to this thread. Can I just add that the OP is talking nonsense. I take that to mean you believe Sparky had a better plan than Fat Sam and the players just didn't execute?

So what was Plan A and what was Plan B? Come on youth. Don't talk shit. Allardyce out coach a manager? He sent his team out with a back 8 and got lucky off a set piece. Seen it all before. Yes, set up to defend, but he also set up to get bookings for Stoke players - original post got it spot on. He's a savvy old buzzard.

I once got off a 24 hour flight and went straight to the Brit to watch us play Sunderland in a snowstorm. It was freezing. Robert Huth got sent off, we lost and then got stuck on the carpark in a blizzard for about 3 hours afterwards. Blackcats my arse. they didn't bring me much luck. /sigh

Here we again more knicker wetting cack after a defeat normal stuff resumed LMH crap, players crap and so on and on and on ! boring predictable shite posted again. Win some lose some that's football, no crisis Jesus wept. To be fair Vince, it's not knicker wetting, it's a good thread on a discussion board, dunt always have to be positive, I go for a pint after most games and if there's 6 of us there in a group I bet there's at least 3 different opinions on stuff that's happened during the match, that's football, it's great. If you want to see just positive threads on here, (piss boring it would be) that's 'happy clapping' ! :-)

I certainly did I also saw and have seen all season bar the Southampton game the lack of chances created by our more talented players. That point will be lost as it doesn't fit with your point of view but hey ho
