Corners definitely. We are still punching well above our weight when we have 27,000 average attendance every season. We need to aim for 35000-40000 before we can even claim to be equal with the Evertons and Aston Villas of this world. Those kind of numbers are possible given the progress on the pitch, but the match day experience is truly shocking and isnt being improved at all. We're never going to equal the Villas and Evertons in terms of club size. If Villa get relegated we might equal them in terms of attendances next season or the season after if they don't bounce back quickly.

We need to be continually at a point where we can pounce and take advantage if one of the bigger sides fucks up in the league.
I doubt we'll ever meaningfully overtake the traditional top six sides, but if they slide like Liverpool did a few years ago and Chelsea might do this season, we have to ensure we grab them by the throat and stake our own claim.
Actually winning something would also be spaffworthy, and if we can forever be there or there abouts with FAC and LC then I can be content with that.

So we’re not winning the League Cup this year then. Chelsea won it this year, it's ours next year

They'll be like a Leeds/Forest/Sunderland/Newcastle I would imagine LP, still pulling a steady 30,000 or so.

There is a distinct possibility soon, that we will peak. How high that peak will be, I'm not sure about.

Yes, but with the three new corners we build next summer - we COULD beat them with our new 35,000 capacity!

You have to admire Mark Hughes optimism. I believe that he believes his own statement, and I certainly hope he is right.

Until we lose again then we're getting relegated, then getting relegated from the Championship, Hughes will set the Brit on fire, Coatesy will sell us to Norman Smurthwaite and then we'll go out of business not once, but 62 times. And it'll all be Philipp Wollscheid's fault. That's just a stupid comment... ...Some of it will also be Geoff Cameron's fault too.

Our owners are far too cautious for us to get any real success. Come on Pugsley. You're winding us up. When the owners took over in 2006 we had just finished 13th in the second tier. Where we are today, is what I call real success. We are an established Premier club, capable of beating anyone, an FA Cup final, been back in Europe, top half of the table twice, and massively talented squad full of internationals (past and present), superb training facilities, youth academy, full house matches, financially sound, ticket prices contained, free away travel, etc.

.... not Wollie's fault - remember agent Sonko is still playing for Harlow Town (god knows how he can influence anything from there though) I grew up in Harlow "new" town. The only thing to do was get out as quick as you can........obviously......agent Sonko may be there for some time

So if the owners improve the ground, that will be real success? I suspect there are a few reasons why the club have not jumped in straight away and filled in the corners as soon as they had planning. The success of the club for one reason; maybe they are waiting and seriously considering a more significant development such as an extra tier on a stand. Naturally any major expansion would have major ramifications such as access and egress, so there would need to be a lot of additional expenditure over an above the actual seating. Naturally any thoughts on development need to be kept confidential to avoid raising false hopes. I'm only speculating and probably wrong, but one thing I am sure off is that Stoke City is in better hands now than at any time in it's history in terms of responsible and competent ownership and management.

Whelan is the latest saying we can finish top 6. It seems that the manager and players have higher ambitions than half of the supporters on the oatcake We can do it come on Stoke

We don't need extra tiers, we just need the corners (all of them filling in) Take the capacity up to approx. 35K. A club in our area pushing for top 6 should fill it no bother with sensibly priced tickets. There is no reason whatsoever for not filling in the scoreboard corner, none bar the CE and his team being a bunch of lazy arsed individuals. I agree about the team but if you want to push on we need to be spending more on players fees and wages. The current ownership will not do that which is their prerogative.
