The fact is that Osborne has reversed his tax credit policy but that is a good thing for a lot of people.
There's also been £3 billion 'frontloaded' for the NHS..another good thing.
And more money for the Police.
The more cynical observer might see this as the Government moving a bit to the Left to mop up dissolutioned Labour voters and put a bit of distance between itself and UKIP.

The unintended consequence of the Welfare State is to have created a society in which - regardless of education, effort or contribution - many now how an inflated sense of entitlement.
The legacy of the last Labour government was to leave policies in place predicated on borrowing £1 in every £4 needed to fund them. They even found it funny to leave a note saying that there was no money left in the government coffers.
Our fifth biggest spend from the public purse is to pay interest on what we've borrowed.
We are still massively overspending and any effort to restrict this lunacy is seen as some sort of "attack" on the poor.
It's like stepping through the looking glass.

Whatever your view..a decent Autumn Statement. I think it's a disappointing one albeit not unexpected. Osbourne was absolutely correct about the need to address the financial fiasco that are tax credits. The time to do it was now - for a whole stack of reasons. But he absolutely fucked it up. My conclusion - Osbourne lacks both the brain and balls to be chancellor.

This country should have ( years ago) invested in engineering, instead of letting Johnny Foreigner take the reins. Biggest mistake ever. Now then, who started the demise of said engineering?

I think it's one of Tories poorer days where party politics is outweighing what the country needs.
Has my good friend Lukey been on lately?
I wonder what he makes of the Labour party these days.
Tories could do whatever they want to clean up the tax credit mess and yet they lie across the centre ground laughing with their cocks out.
What an opportunity missed.

Loved the SNP guy mocking the Tory-Boys for cheering the changes to Working Tax Credit, So that it doesn't criple hard working families, when they cheered the one that did just weeks earlier. For what it's worth, the people who have the cream jobs in this country, should pay more. I feel, genuinely sorry for those at the bottom of the pile. This is not a political statement, and I feel that there should be a reasonable standard of living for everybody, apart from those who don't want to work, at any cost.

Child tax credits certainly needed looking at, they should restricted to supporting two children which is about the national average or was not so sure now, certain people appear to be abusing the system having more children as a way of supplementing their lifestyles and encouraging the work shy to avoid employment, why bother working when you can bang out another sprog or five guaranteed income a roof over their heads and housing benefits to boot, all paid for by the decent working people of this country, if you can not afford kids don't fuckin have them.

No the time to cut working tax credits is when the minimum wage goes up to stop people being worse off If that is the counter balance - then yes. But there are other things he could do - like raise minimum tax threshold, reduce National Insurance and I'm sure there is other stuff. The point is tax credits are iniquitous; tax payers should not be subsidising low pay. A well intentioned but foolish Gordon Brown policy. Getting out of it is tough - but necessary. Osbourne has made an arse of it.

View AttachmentWithout being rude, I'd suggest you might want to invest in this book You might then understand the difference between the deficit and the debt, Labour left a budget deficit of £154 billion in 2009/10, judging by the amount you have complained about the Tories trying to cut this to under £100 billion a year, I doubt you'd have taken it well if he had tried to reduce debt. So you're denying he's failed to bring down either? Well that depends if you think a deficit of £154 billion is more than a deficit of £100 billion ish, i'm pretty sure it is so i'm also therefore pretty sure he has reduced the deficit but the fact a deficit is run at all means the debt increases. Do you want the link to amazon for that book

Osbourne has made an arse of it. Tax credits started out costing £1 billion a year think it's now closer to £30 billion a year, the only reason Osbourne backed out of it is because it would have killed his chance of being PM, a poor decision leaving it for someone else to sort out just like all those governments did with pensions.

Won't be able to claim any tax relief on work mileage from April.
You can guarantee that their expenses won't suffer.
These fuckers and their permanent austerity on the lower levels of society are absolute cunts of the highest order.
I would quite happily watch them die.
The same sentence that they have inflicted on poorest and most vulnerable in society.
All whilst they guffaw and quaff in their mansions paid for by their tax-dodging schemes.

Whatever your view..a decent Autumn Statement. That's actually wrong. Osborne has delayed cutting tax credits until Universal Credit comes in during the 2020 Parliament, at which point the same amount of money will still be cut. The plans would still take £1bn from working families next year and more than £3bn as the new universal credit system comes in. Osborne is still cutting child tax credit to a family’s first two children from 2017.
