Watching Watford now ....thats why diouf must start in cup semi ... Its showing why we need a goal scorer, non of ours score that second.

That's the sound of a German Wiener being thrust right through a honeymoon period, Clive.

We need someone who can head the ball. Out of the front 4 yesterday not one of them can head it. It means that every ball has to be on the floor to be effective.

If Diouf is fit for me he plays. He gives us something different. Pace and aggression, we are too tippy tippy without him and there's just no option to put in a cross when he's not in the team.
To play Walters in front of him is just plain wrong. Diouf really has to start on Boxing Day.

To play Walters in front of him is just plain wrong. Diouf really has to start on Boxing Day. We've become too tippy tappy, the anti-hoof and it's awfully frustrating how we are not direct when the opportunity arises. We can have 95% possession but if we don't have some resemblance of a direct over the top threat defenses can be at ease. Diouf offers that break away pace and aggression like Ighalo versus Skrtel today. This whole willing the ball into the net is the most frustrating thing I've ever seen Stoke continue to attempt when we clearly see it isn't working versus a dug in side at home down a goal. Until we learn to break teams down going at them in the 4-3-3 we will continue to round the 18 yrd box with their 11 behind the ball for nothing as we don't take shots or setup in the final third in those instances. On the counter, we are great and are fluid to get goals... until their defense gets set. Then we look baffled and devoid of a striker.

The sight of roughly 10 long balls to Bojan and Shaq yesterday was pitiful and a single sign of a certain failing of the false 9 system we are using. There is simply no out ball from a goalkeeper when the opponent operates a high press. More and more teams are using it when we have a goal kick or Butland has it in his area, and switching to a deep line when we have it in the middle third. Hopefully this is where Joselu comes in when he has adjusted. He plays very similar to a false 9 but has very good ability in the air statistically.

Where was he today?
Coming off the back of his horrendous personal tragedy is there something going on behind the scenes (understandable obviously) ? I'll ask the obvious one with it being January, is there a move in the offing?
Any news?

Don't see a future for him. If Joselu can score 10 goals a season he's proved to be a much more useful all round player

He will score 13-15 scuffs a season no doubt. He will also mess up 50 chances from shin padding it out of play

6 league starts in 5 months. 3 goals this season, 11 last (despite the ACN) his mother and sister tragically killed but Joselu is better

I didn't realise he had lost his sister as well; that's awlful.
His head wont be right for some months yet - hope the club has sorted out bereavement counselling, its not a magic fix but it helps
We have a tradition of standing by players in need (eg Rory) so lets not call time on him yet; but we do need a striker different to what we have ie a poacher.
We don't need another strong, athletic type - we need a fox in the box as they say.

Pete Smith said he was there and fit, just they preferred the Crouch option.
He should be starting most games.

And what a load of fucking bollocks that is. If you're that bothered by them, start him. Or martial your defence to do their job. And Diouf is very good at defending set pieces himself. Fucking hell fire what bollocks.
