Was anyone else at the Battle Of Burnden? That whole season was just insane...? It seemed to happen every week. Before my time. The Trotters outdoor street disco and pub redecorating job was more my era, for a Bolton reference. Never been so grateful for Christmas shopping congestion. A 20 minute free for all. People lying sparked out in the road. Stools, chairs, bins, tables, bottles, glasses strewn across the street, umbrellas being thrown to and fro. Tables thrown out through the broken window, then returned gleefully. A double decker parked up with curious onlookers watching us, festive shoppers stopped to watch the ruckus with interest.,

Was anyone else at the Battle Of Burnden? That whole season was just insane...? It seemed to happen every week. Friend of mine walked up to a knife wielding Bolton fan and pressed his chest against the blade. I was fucking gobsmacked, he was pissed and adrenaline high. The opposition bottled it and ran. Thank god. We had a number of mad day outs there. One game we only made the last 15 minutes cause our driver got nicked on the way and we spent a few hours in the pub in Widnes waiting for him. Even though it was about 4pm when he was released we still turned up and went straight in their end cause the gates were open. Ten minutes scrapping then a walk across the pitch to a standing ovation Burnley was a rough hole too. Saw plenty of lads on the receiving end there. I remember seeing a really young lad (14) battered, covered in blood in the ground looking for his dad. There was hell up after because of it.

Bolton was mad in 79.. The worst inside a ground.. on the old open terrace behind the goal.. Remember one lad with a bowler hat stood on the crash barriers and Bolton threw everything at him in vain.. concrete flying everywhere before a couple of 'greasers' jumped into their end and scattered them.. You,'re right Dave.. that season was out of control.

For a few seasons (around 87-88), we had a singer perform pre-match in front of the Stoke End.

Shef Utd away, the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, but we were there all day running the gauntlet.Left Sheffield after 5pm! Northampton and Charlton in the Cup night games were madness too. All sorts of shit kicking off. Pitch invasion at Northampton after we rolled in... Just fucking nuts! Yet, it seemed so normal then...... Northampton, the one with the special train and the buses getting bricked in by the scrotes from the park on the way back to the station?

I recall being able to get in the Vic for a pack of ten cigarettes via a steward - a quick knock on the door by the Old Stoke end and the Police box bit and bingo in and taken round into the Boothen! The atmosphere for night games was something special there was always someting in the air that cant be replicated now. Away dayes were great, I remember going round the pubs of leek dragging folk away from the pints to fill mini buses for trips away, some with no door! Being dropped from the school football team for going Bradford away in a night game rather than playing! Great shout earlier for KLIX chwing gum and gus the lottery seller The smell of tobacco was a delightful smell around the ground. Banging the wooden seats in the Butler when we had a corner!
