Ok, it's not the Regent then.
I'm from Blurton too and don't recall it from that area.
You sure it's not the Regent ?

The Regent in Mount Pleasent, a 2 minute walk from Blurton & something you'd pass walking to the Victoria Ground? No, it's definately not that. It might be some other Regent somewhere else though

Alright son calm down, you win chips and peas from the Dancing Octopus. Ask them for your prize next time you're in there. Were you even born in the 80's? Come on tell us a tale.....

And what about my prize OS for coming a close second with the Sneyd Arms in the Abbey.
OK, it wasn't correct but it does resemble it a wee bit, doesn't it?

Anyone else find that statue in the doorway of the Jolly Giant toy store fairly terrifying when you were shitfaced? No? Just me then....

The genuine excitement of watching Mark Chamberlain playing. Real class Big Bren Billy Glassback Georgie Berry Paul Dyson Micky and Sammy playing keep ball by the corner flag Fires made from piled up newspapers on the Boothen Paddock steps, nobody bothered enough to put it out Scousers losing their shoes when they piled down from the Boothen Paddock and had to turn around sharpish The Victoria Hotel for a quick one, usually outside in the car park, before hitting the turnstiles Lads'n Dads cheap Stoke End seat tickets and mayhem every game Renting vans for away games from the place opposite the ground, 1987-1990 Green Un's and trying to read it half pissed up. Tucked it up folded four ways into the arse pocket to read Sunday morning Charlie Browns, usually busy and a horrible atmosphere for a big game.

Newcastle pubs don't count so on that basis I'm the winner as I suggested the Regent. More than once as I recall.
Newcastle chippys aren't much good either OS so can I collect my prize from St Mary's Fish Bar instead ?

I've walked past and driven past and lived near that pub my whole life yet never once been in, yet I've managed to get in to all the nearby ones at least once.
Am i missing out?

Night matches at the old vic ground back in the early to late 70's will always stick in my mind. Walking down Grove road onto Whieldon road from Hollybush estate, Blurton. The closer you got to the ground, the faster you started walking until you ended up almost sprinting to get a good spot in the Boothen end.
The atmosphere, the floodlights and the smell of hot dogs and hamburgers lingering in the evening air acted like magnets pulling me in and whoever else was with me to kick off time. Proper football ground watching good football with loud and proud supporters. Those were the days.

Pipe-smoke, probably erinmore Police horses watching the game from by the exit near door X being followed by a gang of west ham along lonsdale st and being really relieved when one of them said "leave these they're just Wally's" walking past Lau school of Kung Fu and thinking I'm going to join that so I wont be scared next time I'm stranded and it goes nasty, never did though coppers wearing those black gloves that they liked to "direct" you to your destination whether you wanted to go there or not Chip van by the Town End

Now you've asked, I did pass it a few times but most times I did a detour down the side street on to the "Albert Inn" from where my older mates used to smuggle out a few pints for me as I was under age, and when I was old enough I still didn't look old enough to get served. One of my mucker's had a full blown beard when he was 14 yrs old.

Huge deep puddles on the Butler car park, someone invariably walked into one and got soaked up above the knees. Usually an old fella with bad eyesight.
Snowball fights in the streets/around the ground, With away fans. Coppers laughing, general entertainment.
Stealing wooly hats from Everton when they had those awful half and half Celtic/Rangers things. Coppers chuckling and gently persuading us to hand them back.
Campbell Road war zone, little old ladies stood in their front gardens telling us to "clear off up your own end" when it kicked off. I bet those ladies saw much worse in the 70's.
Hull parked a minibus outside the Stoke End on Campbell Road outside the small sweet shop. The van got destroyed.
