New Song for Big Phil.
I think I'm going to change my username in the big guy's honour and make him my favourite Stoke player with immediate effect.
I stood next to him on Saturday and I can tell you that he is an absolute giant, rock solid in stature and now primed to show us just how good he is!
De de Der, Super Philip Wolschied!

He is the best 5th choice CB we have ever spent £3M on.

Love how everyone is forgetting he was absolutely excellent against Leicester at their place and very good in a few other games.
I seem to remember a thread on here titled Wollscheid is God.
After the weekends fiasco, he deserves a shot at centre back.

After the weekends fiasco, he deserves a shot at centre back. He was quite brilliant at Leicester and Newcastle. I also remember him having pretty good games at West Ham and Villa as well as some home games. He had a poor game at Blackburn but so did everyone. The only other poor game i remember him having is Sunderland at home, but everyone has a poor game every now and then. If i remember rightly he wasn't helped by our fans against Sunderland.

Even in that Sunderland game, one mistake and one row/loss of temper was magnified and given as a free ride to crucify the lad. Yet again, Wooly played in a game that we did not lose.

You would surely expect him to start at Fulham tomorrow and this will be an opportunity to show his value. His big weakness is lack of pace (being kind) but that is a weakness you can level at lots of centre halves. Hughes and his scouting team must see something in him and it's puzzling that, despite being our only genuine fit centre back ( you'll struggle to convince me that Muni, Cameron, Wilson are proper centre backs), he is fifth choice. I hope he really comes good because we badly need a commanding centre back, at least until Ryan is back and firing. Go show 'em Wolly.

Nobody played well at Blackburn. If we're being overly critical, Diouf missed a sitter at 1-0 which would have put the game to bed.

I enjoyed the meltdown. At Blackburn he was Whelan and Bardsleys kicking brick.
Against Sunderland he came of age and gave a fair bit back to the lino that wrongly allowed a foul* in the build up.
*in his mind only.

Wooly is yet another in a long line of Stoke players that I've seen...
Sammy Irvine Paul Maguire Bjarni
to pick out just three.
Some of them may have been a bit gash, but we have to have a player we round on and get at.
After all, that's really got help a players confidence hasn't it?

Well I'm of the opinion that he's barley played for a very specific reason relating to the manager's opinion of his ability, based on his performances from last season. Maybe you think Hughes is a bit piss poor as well?

I am sure he is a lovely bloke, and tall too, but my only concern is whether he is better than those in the team at present at centre back - that we made him our main defensive signing this past summer, yet see him as only our fifth choice in line for that role is a damning indictment of a big signing we got badly wrong. He is no Sonko, and I'd pick him ahead of the Brazilian Collinsinho and Andrew Davies amongst other horror show defensive signings, but he is simply not good enough for where we are and what we need right now.

He was only telling Bardsley what we've all finalised realised...that he's wank and needs to shut the fuck up and concentrate on his own game! and before you say anything, I know that his fall out with Bardsley came in the Blackburn game but I'm being creative in defending my all time favourite Stoke City player!

I've been saying sit since April mate and all through the window when it was obvious Ryan wasn't right and that we needed to either a. Spend big wages on a short term solution or b. a big transfer fee on a dominant centre back who would be challenging everyone for a starting spot in the side. We did neither. Whether it's arrogance or incompetence within the transfer team I don't know but it was an almighty fuck up. I wish Wollscheid nothing but luck tomorrow night where he can try and restore a bit of confidence but I'm of the opinion that he is exactly not the kind of shake up our defence needs right now.
