I will be panicking if we fail to beat both Leicester and Bournemouth! We desperately need to 'up' our game!

Yeah some of it's been bad. But it hasn't been uniformly bad. There's been some good stuff. I just don't see the doom and gloom. I think we have a talented group of players and an excellent manager and in the end it'll click.
Got to say I was worried by what I saw today Rob.
I don't think anybody was expecting us to get anything at the Emirates but I did expect us to go there and appear to have at least some idea about what we were supposed to be doing.
Going to the Emirates with an idea to play a straight 4-4-2, certainly raised many eyebrows before kick-off, people fearing that we would get overrun in midfield and that's exactly what happened.
If it wasn't for the woodwork and an incredible display from Butland we could have easily been behind by four or five by half time.
The most worrying thing was that Hughes had obviously been working on 4-4-2 for a while on the training ground, with players charged with playing in specific positions but he spent most of the first half switching players around frantically trying to make his 'system' work, no wonder the players looked at sixes and sevens.
Within 10 minutes of the second half starting, he threw 4-4-2 out of the window and we were left with the incredible sight of Arnie leading the line for us and Hughes again switching players around behind him in a (desperate) attempt to try and get some sort of formation working on the pitch.
I don't think I'm over egging it by suggesting that it looked like Hughes was making it up as he went along.
Understandable if we were making changes on the hoof due to injuries but not one player got injured today.
I really don't think that Hughes has got the foggiest what his best starting XI is at the moment.
We were dreadful today Paul. I think tha manager got it fundamentally wrong and is getting wrong a lot. But overall I don't think we've been the catastrophe people are making out and and I think the manager and his team have enough credit in the bank to keep the faith and suggest things will Improve.

Our mistakes ....
Van Ginkel.....Dire .
Ireland ......Automatic choice .
Bojan ......If Fit should start every game .
Arnautovic ......Hit and miss .....More miss than hit .
Tactics ...Keep the ball more in Midfield (see comment on Van Ginkel )

In that case I fear for us. I don't see us beating Chelsea in a relegation battle. The way we played against Arsenal today - we would be knackered - sorry your point is? My point is... you are saying that because we are bottom after 5 games then it is a FACT that we are in a relegation battle. By that logic, Chelsea are also in a relegation battle. This is why people tend not to rush to judgement quite so soon.

Are these fuckers owt do with Stoke? Bottom is a British sitcom television series that originally aired on BBC2 between 1991 and 1995. It was written by and starred comic duo Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall. The faces and the title seemed to fit.

It's not the results that worry me it is the performances,90min against a shit Liverpool side one shot on target,Out played for 75min against a Spurs side that's not that good, out played at Norwich if it was not for Jack it would of been a defeat, the first 20 min against WBA we did not look like we were going to break them down, the sending off helped us in a strange way the crowd lifted the team befor that it was like a funeral parlour .And today we could of conceded 8 against a team that has not scored in 5 of its 6 games. I think that this post is bang on the money.

We may not have played well so far, but it could also be argued that if Diouf took another of his chances against Spurs, and if Joselu hadnt of missed that sitter in the final few mins against Norwich we could be on 6 points by now. In fact yesterday was the only game where we never looked like getting any points throughout.
I know that is all "ifs and buts" however, so are the arguements that if Butland wasn't on form we would have 0 points, at the end of the day it is only September and if we beat Leicester we could be easily out of the bottom 3.
Not going to pretend that we have had anything like a good start to the season, just that things could have easily gone differently - whether we deserved it to or not, and by the end of next month I expect us to be in a mid table position with the games coming up.
If we are still struggling then, it will be the time to start getting concerned.

2 huge games coming up. If we're in the bottom 3 after those then yes we're in trouble. Imo we will get 6 points. Spot on, Clyde

This is why people tend not to rush to judgement quite so soon. Problem is that apart from 7 clubs who are never and never will be relegated, all other clubs by definition are potential relegation fodder from the get go. Previous years finishes counts for little and any 3 of the other 13 will go come May - fairly tight odds wise. For us to be bottom of the heap at the moment is of course bad for morale on and off the pitch but easily recoverable at this point of the season and 31 games left however we are not immune - no matter how many years we've been here or how much money's been spent making gone next two fixtures absolutely crucial - 6 points and no less to settle these nerves IMHO.

We have the players and i think it's all about the 1st win once we get a win I think the pressure will lift. If we can show the same commitment we did against W. B. A when we only had 9 men then we should be ok. A combination of team spirit and our support as ever at the britannia we will be ok. Come on Stoke

I agree. Although concerning morale we have a part to play and that involves us not all wetting ourselves after a difficult start. I still think - so long as Shawcross isn't out for several months - we will finish top ten again.

Mate...if we fail to beat Leicester and Bournemouth we will be pooing pants never mind panic. Ireland to start. SJW to start. Rip Van Winkle on the bench. Maybe Cameron in midfield and Wilson centre-back. Crouch on after 60 mins if it's 0-0

Anybody else share my relief that we do not start the working week being bottom of the Prem?
Whether we kicked a ball or not is irrelevant. Being bottom of this or any other league is, to a sportsman/woman, an embarrassment.

It was inevitable we would lose at the Emirates but it was the manner of the defeat that bothers me. We were all over the place.
