Not arsed. 4 points from the next 2 games though is pretty vital. No - 6 points are vital and nothing less than acceptable against mediocre opposition - Hughes needs to get his finger out and quickly. And we aren't mediocre right now?

4 to 6pts from our 2 homes should have us sitting around mid table.

Too much pissing around in defence today for me, although apart from that I thought we did more going forward than we have in many past visits but I was in Islo wetherspoons for 10am so I might be wrong.
Be good to see Bojan and Shaq in the same team for 90 mins going on the last 15 mins ish.

Undone at the near post yet again. No difference to the two Cologne matches. Nothing learned, nothing gained. A poor defence, weak midfield, an attack that relies on the two wide men delivering otherwise we have no goal threat, no discipline, no organisation, no fight but apart from that we'll be fine!

Combination of both really.
5 games in and we have played
1) Three of the teams that will finish top 6 2) One of the newly promoted sides away from home 3) Only two home games 4) One game with 9 men
I wouldn't expect us to have a great points tally given those factors as well as with Shawcross being injured and Bojan still coming back.

The fact is that we were shite at Arsenal today, an embarrassment of a side, that could get rolled over by any one of the 19 clubs currently above us.
To be bottom of the league for 5 minutes, one weekend, or whatever, is a total embarrassment to everyone connected with the Club.
Any Stoke fan is entitled to feel depressed and concerned about the current state of affairs. It might be a bit early for knicker-wetting, but whistling in the dark doesn't do us much good either.

Theres no need to worry just yet, but next weekend is a must win. IF we can get the first win on the board, I feel we can kick-start our season and push on to mid-table. However, I AM concerned of the manner of todays defeat. Shite defensively, second best in midfield and a lack of creativity going forward, we just rolled over against a side that never had to get out of second gear. Why we had to bring in 9 players over the summer, none of whom is a Ryan-type centre-half, when 4 or 5 would have done (along with keeping the Zonz), when we had a settled side beats me

Rob, we are all Stoke fans and wish the club well but your statement that 'Theres no need to worry just yet, but next weekend is a must win' says it all.
If there is no need to worry, why is next weekend a must win?
Can we get real here for a moment? All three promoted teams plus the apparently useless Sunderland are above us in the league and it's mid September. Oh yes, and we haven't won a game yet.
The first step in solving a problem is to accept that you have one.
And the table definitely says we have one

We are bottom for a reason - we are not good enough after 5 games; if we've only played 5 then we can only be judged on that. Should of, could of doesn't matter.

We are in a relegation battle. We haven't replaced 2 of the spine of the team. (Shawcross and nzonxi ) It's no use burying our heads in the sand, our team is very poor. We have spent less net than any other team in the last 2 years. Anyone who isn't worried needs to take off their rose tinted glasses. A long season coming up and let's face it lose to Leicester and Bournemouth and Hughes will lose his job. Thing is with a transfer window you can't react until it's too late.

So when do you say ok we are in a relegation battle? Out of the 4 teams that we have played for the last year we got 9 points
This year only 1
I would call that a massive backward step .
After Bournemouth we have Swansea away howamy games before we reach 9 points?
This is by far our worst start to a season since we got relegated in 85 and 90

Very sad day for me, not so much because of the result but the manner of our defeat.
I didn't expect us to win and would have been delighted with a point before the match. What upset me was our inability to retain possession, not just poor passing, but also poor ball control skills. We are 6 games played and the players still look like strangers to one another at times. There is a distinct lack of physicality and aggression. We were really missing Shawcross and Huth today. Our goals against tally is very flattering and I'm getting a bit fed up of our forwards always putting on a "hard done to" act, instead of jumping up and getting on with it.
I'm trying to find the positives. We did look good for a spell going forward in the second half, but it didn't last when Arsenal recovered their composure, which Spurs didn't. Defensive problems can be resolved by good organization, but I have my doubts, since we still seem unable to resolve our set piece deficiencies.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. It's time our players start to show more grit and determination and less of the "pretty fancy Dans".
I've recently read Bobby Charlton's autobiographies. He said no other manager would have picked George Cohen, Alan Ball, or his brother Jack (at >30 remember) to play for England, but Ramsay did because he believed in picking the best team and not necessarily the best players. Those three were picked for their grit, determination, never say die attitude. My thoughts turned to John Walters.

You're all so concerned with the bottom of the league table.
The only bottom I care about is the one on Glenn Whelan

We saw a piss poor West Brom side struggle to beat 9 men.
