There must surely be an alternate universe where TP DOESN'T offer him a 3-year deal on deadline day. But in this universe, got to be very short odds on that happening?

Whilst I appreciate and agree that his worth is more than what he shows on the pitch, I think we'll struggle on ok without him.
I know Wingie isn't quite the player he was before his injury but he could still recapture that form as he gains more confidence in his knee and I wouldn't write him off yet.
In Hughes's first season we were struggling to find any form after Xmas, we played Norwich away, JW picked up a 3 match suspension, Wingie replaced him and we won 3 on the bounce.

Bargain of the century and a big fuck up from Scfc if he doesn't sign another contract. Rather see him leave for free in the summer after another seasons good service We have a theme with this poster. I'm waiting for the "we'll struggle to score goals without Jon", in a similar vein as "we'll ship a shed load without Huth"

Wouldn't sell him, sign that contract Jon! Would much prefer crouch/Odem to leave I would sooner keep them all! More options= More competition for the players to compete for a place in the starting 11? There's no room. Need to shift someone to get down to 25. Tex should go for me.

He will be off once the right price is reached. Done us proud and always given 100% but we move on.

10+ goals a season on the right for 1.5 million, don't think so.

There's no way Id get rid, if Arnie or Shaq get injured and with Wingie struggling we'll definately need Walters

We're at least as good as Man United.

£1.5 million is a joke. If it was £ 2.5m - £3m we'd of likely accepted. Love Jon's effort and graft he's a real force on his day. He's important as he's one of the players to keep the ship going forward. I just hope he can wrestle with not playing as much in this side as he is getting on in age and were currently bringing in pure class with players like Shaqiri. I hope he sign's the two year and focus's on the cup for us and earn's a one year extension like Crouch. It's in his hands. If he leaves we will most likely buy a like for like physical wing replacement.

It's a young man's game these days, even if you are as fit as a butcher's dog like SJW.

Worth 2 years though, he's worth hanging onto a bit longer. 33, 34 isn't old, and many players play into their late 30's.

As for walters i've explained above why he's an important player more so now we're signing more foreign 'technical footballers', he'll balance the team and add something else to the mix and complement them well. I'm sure others understand where i'm coming from but yeah if you want me too..... "We're never going to score again if walters leaves" is that better?

Walters has been a good servant so for me an extra year even 'if' he's finished by 33 wouldnt hurt imo, that final uear could be more for cup appearances and cover. 34, isnt like hes 44 and he's naturally fit and athletic so he could probs go obto 35 at top level if only as cover

He still offers a lot for me

May as well let his contract run down if it's 2million or below. His annual goal return suggests he'll get about 5/6 goals maybe this season if he starts playing second fiddle more to Shaq and Marko.
Them goals could easily mean the difference in a couple of places in the table.

I wouldn't sell him for 1.5m. He bullied the Liverpool full back opening game. V Spurs he wasn't as good but he's a vital member of the squad and has proven everyone wrong (including myself) time and time again

It'd be very short sighted giving him a new contract.
We've got an aging squad anyway so you give a bloke contracted until he's virtually 33 a contract extension?
Nah.
But we will and we can put it alongside the Sidwell, Bardsley, Crouch, Cameron, Adam and Odemwingie contracts as being just odd.

1.5 million is virtually a free transfer nowadays. I'd let his contract run down and keep him tbh.

But then the other contract extensions I've mentioned above are equally short sighted.

£1.5m is a derisory offer for a guy who scored 8 premier league goals last season from the wing, old and nearly out of contract or not.
