Butland Johnson Cameron Muniesa Pieters Whelan Shaqiri MVG Affelay Arnie Diouf
Good to combat their 4231. As long as Cameron tracks Kane and Muniesa stays to help we will do good. Plenty of movement in the mid without defenders pushing forward.

Cameron is not a centre back. If we persist with that we'll get in trouble

Cameron is not a centre back. If we persist with that we'll get in trouble Before we signed him he had NEVER played at right back in his life - and 90% of his club and International games had been at centre back and defensive midfield. I think his problems at cb for the USA in recent years (where he has been good one game and poor the next) have been down to the fact that he had played almost exclusively at right back for us. For me he is still naturally a cb/defensive midfielder - what he needs is a decent run in one of those positions. I'd certainly keep him at cb after his performance against Liverpool. He was close to MOTM last Sunday - we'd be foolish not to keep him at cb tomorrow - Sparky tends to keep players who do well in the team until they have a shocker, so I can't see him dropping Cameron tomorrow.

I think tomorrow will be a very different proposition to the Liverpool game. Liverpool came for a 0-0 and got lucky. At this level, when Geoff is tested defensively his frailties are all to obvious. However when played at full back he does offer something going forward. He is a utility player, not quite good enough in those positions to be a regular starter but worth having in the squad

Cameron was our best defender in pre-season as well. He has been the last man covering for the others in every game I watched.
At RB he gets his positioning wrong but at Central Defence he reads the game well, wins most of his tackles and is willing to put his head where it hurts.
He needs a run of games to build consistency there but Im starting to think he is the only guy in our current squad that can take Shawcross role. i.e. seeing everything unfold in front of him and knowing WHEN & WHERE to cover.

Cameron is not a centre back. If we persist with that we'll get in trouble I'd say two of his best three performances in a stoke shirt have been at CB, although to be fair he's a little inconsistent in either role. I think him and Johnson looked like they had a really good understanding at the weekend. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

I think him and Johnson looked like they had a really good understanding at the weekend. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards I hope he can finally mature and be consistent in his preferred role but I have seen a lot of bad decision making and at times naivety from him in defensive areas. We'll see

Will be interesting to see how you guys will react after the first game of Shaqiri played for Stoke. For my taste there has been too much of pre-credit and too much of "the saviour has arrived" posted here. We had it all before at Inter. (A crowd of 5000 came to "pick him up" at the airport in Milan, just to drop him like a hot potato 5 months later) He will not impress you with all his fancy circus ball-tricks - he has to work his ass off at Stoke; run up and down all around... Also, you guys must know, that Stoke City has never really been his first choice - he wanted to return to Germany (Dortmund or Schalke). His manager (his brother) convinced him otherwise - the 3rd transfer in 3 years. Money keeps coming in, while his career is going down. Started at Stoke, made it to Inter Milan and finally transferred to Bayern, where he won the triple (Bundesliga Champion, German Cup and Champions League) - impressive career - oh, sorry, its the other way round... Lets hope I will be proved wrong... Classic oatcake.

Make sure he's firing fit for Norwich.

When do we normally find out the team? Around 3 hours before kickoff?
Really hoping to see some nice play tomorrow, though I expect it will take time for the new players to gel.

Here's hoping Pochettino shits himself again and plays four centre half's across the back. I doubt he'll be as stupid this time though.

Predicted two defeats in the opening two games, followed by 2 victories (as I'm sure a lot of people did) and still expecting a defeat here.
People need to keep grounded if we do have a poor game. Even though we beat Spurs twice last season, they are a good outfit and will be looking to atone for last weeks defeat.
3 1 Spurs for me.

What time do the official supports coaches usually aim to arrive at the ground? Mate travelling down on one and I'm meeting him there so want to get a rough estimate as to what time they are likely to turn up.

I think Hughes will go with...
Butland
Johnson Geoff Muni Pieters
Whelan Van Ginkel
Shaq Adam Walters
Diouf...
Play Shaq on the right with Johnson at RB, and we'll get torn apart down the right side
