Excellent news - Arnie and Shaq will give us the creativity in the final third we sorely missed against the Scousers.

Hughes just said Wingy a doubt with a hamstring strain and that Bojan won't be considered and will instead get some game time with the under-21s.

If Eric is out, I hope he goes with Wilson at left back and sticks with Muni in the centre.

I'd stick with my team in the OP, with Erik in if his gut rot allows!
Subs: Given Wilson Wollscheid Walters Adam Crouch Joselu

Yup, that's the team, Kev. Spurs will have a real game on their hands if we perform anything like to our potential.

Will Shaqiri start at Spurs? He says he's match fit and ready to go but I would be surprised if LMH started him.WHL is a tough place and we will be under pressure there particularly early in the game.I think he will start with SJW and will bring him on 2nd half whatever the score is as the spaces start to appear.Defensively SJW is very good and I would play Arnie in preference to Affelay.

Arnie has to play if he is fit. I'm sure the thought of Arnie and Shaqiri would make pochettino shit himself!

Will be interesting to see how you guys will react after the first game of Shaqiri played for Stoke. For my taste there has been too much of pre-credit and too much of "the saviour has arrived" posted here. We had it all before at Inter. (A crowd of 5000 came to "pick him up" at the airport in Milan, just to drop him like a hot potato 5 months later) He will not impress you with all his fancy circus ball-tricks - he has to work his ass off at Stoke; run up and down all around... Also, you guys must know, that Stoke City has never really been his first choice - he wanted to return to Germany (Dortmund or Schalke). His manager (his brother) convinced him otherwise - the 3rd transfer in 3 years. Money keeps coming in, while his career is going down. Started at Stoke, made it to Inter Milan and finally transferred to Bayern, where he won the triple (Bundesliga Champion, German Cup and Champions League) - impressive career - oh, sorry, its the other way round...
Lets hope I will be proved wrong...

I truly hope I am wrong and Shaq will deliver what you paid him for! But then again, for this money you could have got a couple of better or at least equal players; even Swiss! In the German Bundes Liga, with 25 players, the Swiss are the largest foreign player community (plus 3 managers and 4 No.1. goalkeepers) Teams like Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg (2nd and 3rd last season) are dominated by Swiss players/ managers. The germans are smart and buy them cheap when they are still young. Its a well known fact that the Swiss League is more like an academic league (1x Under 17 World Cup Champion, 1x Under 21 EURO Champion since 2004). Premier League Clubs tend to buy players when they are at their career peak, since money doesn't matter. Clubs like Stoke should probably try to buy them before that to save some extra cash. Some names to consider:Shkelzen Gashi (plays at FC Basel and has been the top scorer for the last 2 seasons) Breel Embolo (plays for FC Basel, is only 17 and already got 5 caps for Switzerland - huge talent!!) Blerim Dzemaili (plays currently for Galatasaray Istanbul and wants to move. Great player (6/10) scored at the worldcup in Brazil Marco Schönbächler (young player at FC Zürich; just earned his first few caps - injured at the moment) Granit Xhaka (mind and soul of Gladbach - only 23; what a player. Will play for Barca or Real one day) Almen Abdi (plays at FC Watford; great forward) and so on... most of them are a real bargain you could have had for a fraction of the price of Shaqiri

Paul Merson's prediction
Tottenham v Stoke (Saturday, 3pm)
All of Stoke's signings have played for big, big football clubs. Winning football clubs. Tottenham did OK at United but still lost. These are two decent teams a lot closer than we think in terms of quality. Given that, I'm going for an entertaining draw.
I'd say don't judge Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino yet. The side is still not fully his, he'll want to bring more in. I like him and think he's a good manager, but there's a hell of a lot of pressure on Harry Kane this season.
PAUL PREDICTS: 2-2

Especially if he gets a detention for talking in class during story time. All sounds like sour grapes to me. Heaven knows what the captain will come up with after our terribly boring team do the double on them again this season.

Does no one remember Dier getting worked over arnie last time around? Even my Tottenham buddy isn't high on the guy. If he starts it'll only help our midfield, hopefully a mix of mvg Whelan and affelay.

Yes he was certainly Dire at Stoke in the 3-0 defeat, week before he had a good game at WHL and I thought he would be a danger.
