I thought he was fantastic. Harried and hurried the Liverpool backline all day long preventing them from building their attacks like we know they like to. Doesn't 'fantastic' for a striker usually mean scoring goals or at least having a shot or header on target. He worked hard but was average yesterday.I don't count 'harrying' as fantastic. No, because his harrying yesterday forced the Liverpool defence to be wasteful with the ball which in turn means we got possession back. It's an integral part of his job. The lack of shots and therefore goals came from him essentially feeding off scraps all day. The only two decent balls into him were the one he missed by inches from an Adam free kick, and the one where Clyne nicked it off his head from a Johnson(?) cross........

He really showed what he's capable of in spells last season in, amazingly bagging 11 goals. Yesterday though he was utterly casual at times when he could have retained possession in dangerous areas and just looked like he was going through the motions. I cannot abide that attitude with footballers that are paid a fucking fortune.

Don't see any issue with Diouf's attitood, he's the smiling assassin. His constant industry and preparedness to get stuck in is a massive positive for us. He seems to have very high expectations of himself. Which is good. He'll score the scrappy and the spectacular. I can see him connecting with a few Johnson crosses this season. If he gets a good run of games up front I'm sure he'll top last years goal tally. He cost very little in the grand scheme of things. I can see us making a lot of money from the sale of Diouf.

Even if Diouf wasn't that good, you must admit it's difficult to do it all without any help. Too many long balls.

Play Afellay behind him until Bojan is back, get Arnie playing and a new winger and it'll all come good. His main fault yesterday was trying a couple of flicks and back heels when he should have held it up.

Although I'm not knocking him, Mame is a very strange player in that he seems to be almost too clean.... okay, hold on before you think weird comment. Yesterday, Christian Benteke spent almost all game trying to block the keeper from taking quick throws and kicks. Naturally, the ref who's your typical big team ref, let him get away with obstructing the keeper for an entire 90 minutes, even right at the end when we needed to get out quickly. I was screaming for Diouf to do the same, yet just when I thought he was going to, he seemed to walk away. He never once stood in front of Mignolet. He doesn't leave his foot in, he's a very honest player in that regard.
It's not a criticism at all, but it's rare you see a player who plays the game in such a sporting fashion.
As for his body language, I think he puts in a hell of a shift all the time, he ran himself and their defence ragged yesterday. Not knocking him at all for that.

I kind of agree. I thought he worked hard but there was a couple of times he lost the ball and jumped on the spot a few time a and spun round when if he had actually looked, the player with the ball was close to him and he could have caught and tackled back

That's fine but eleven goals in the PL and 3 or 4 in the cup games does not make him a bad player IMO.

Hes very average , youll never get a lot of goals off him Did he score 11 last season after starting on the wing in quite a few games or did I miss that? Equalled the highest tally in the Premiership for a Stoke player. Not bad for being very average. Agree.

He got very little service from the wings yesterday and was very well marked , liverpoos defence also sat deeper than the last time . He had little time and space

I was not sure at first. Now I am sure he will be our top goalscorer with 15 to 20 goals this season. As for yesterday he qas but inches away from converting a number of difficult chances. An amazing bargain he will do even better for us this season than last season's decent haul given Acon and him playing wide

Frustrating is the word. Sometimes he just looks like he hasn't got a clue what he's going to do, he seems clumsy, slow to get back, getting in the way of players or making the wrong decisions. But then he can do something out of the blue too.

This board was in melt down at half time today about Diouf's performance due to missed chances. In the second half he continued to give the Spurs defence loads of head aches and had more scoring chances.
I've said in the past and repeat now, Diouf is a natural goal poacher; he constantly gets into scoring positions. Keep playing him centrally and feeding him and he'll get 20+ goals for us this season.

I know where he lined up, but he scored centrally. Where he was, when Ireland passed to him.

Good balls into the box for him (ala yesterday) or slide balls for him to chase onto.
