If nothing else we've got an infectiously happy guy at the club. Tbh mate I'd rather we had his wages for a player who offers us more than a happy face. Well maybe, but it's done now. At least he actually wants to be here, seems to be a positive force around the place. Just like goalies benefit from a senior keeper mentoring and pressing for 1st choice, youngsters like Shenton can hopefully learn a lot from Wingie and bring out the best in them... I don't want to write him off yet though, I like him.

Too soon to write Wingie off but it's going to be interested to see if we fucked up! Hardly fucked up? Keeping a player we don't overly need and in a position where need to sign someone pronto because if we don't we have 2 aging players for the position who aren't actually wingers. And then when that player comes we have 3 players for the 1 position. I think it's a fuck up unless Walters is sold.

Too early to make any predictions. Nobody played badly, a few standouts and everybody getting fitter. Sparky will have a few tough decisions to make and a bench full of quality players. Great to see Shenton given a go

Wasn't Diouf our top scorer last season? Doesn't bode well then if he's not up to the required standard.

Wingie will need more time to get fit, the injury and his age are against him but i think he'll come good, just have to remember that he has been injured since the Man City game, no fitness, very little training It's still very early days for him coming back so i reckon he'll come on massively before the start of the season with no setbacks You seriously think a player wanting to recover his position in the footballing profession in trying to overcome medial ligament damage has done no training? Well done Stoke for giving this great man a chance to prove himself a valuable member of the Stoke squad. To be honest I am embarrassed by some of the so called Stoke fans when I read the comments on this issue. I can only put it down to lack of grey cells.

It was plain to see Diouf is lacking in confidence,to miss a chance like he did when the goal is begging, well it'll be a key decision what the gaffer does with him

He did more than enough last season to warrant being first choice at the start of next season and if his form drops off or isn't there we have Joselu pushing him. I really don't think you can judge his confidence based on one miss though, I'd actually be much more worried if he wasn't getting the chances but he's already proved he can put the ball in the back of the net relatively consistently.

"La twig" managed to stay in one piece though Bayern. I'm sure the Singapore XI have the physicality of most Premier League footballers. I still don't get why people don't think he'll be bulked up. He clearly will because he does look so scrawny. You only have to look at what we've done with Muni and Bojan to get the balance right with it. It'll be the same with him. That's pretty obvious. Only pulling your chain mate. Look at Ronaldo when he first came to these shores.

[/b] What utter rubbish, the team looks good with plenty of options on the bench with Bojan in the background Diouf looked fine for his first run out. These games are to build fitness and sharpness. The squad looks strong and MH will have problems keeping everybody happy with enough games, especially after one or two more signings.Great workout in Singapore and great PR for us.[

Diouf misses easy chances we all have to accept that but he still got 13 goals last season. A very impressive tally taking AFCON and him being used at RW into account. We will not find better than Diouf for under £15m I think.

Unlucky with his 1v1 with the GK

Odem is playing like someone coming back from a career threatening injury. He is hesitant and lacking confidence. I think he'll gain in confidence the more minutes he plays and we'll see more of the old wingie as the new season approaches.

Good workout for our boys I thought. All too easy for the ill informed to have digs at our boys playing the locals in incredible heat and humidity.
Two or- three points only from my perspective
firstly, there's a massive hole in our midfield now Nzonzis gone, we have to fill urgently.
Second, how important Gcam is to our squad (good in both singapore games)
and thirdly,
How great it could've been to totally piss on both Barclays and Arsenals totally contrived and pre arranged overseas cup win.
I think we all would've loved to have seen that.
Just a bunch of cheating diving conniving bastards to a man, even in pre sesaon friendlies.
I positively ache for an opportunity to beat their hateful football team once again!

What....like Odemwingie is done?? Odemwingie has done ok but there is something about him that suggest to me that it could be a difficult season for him. He could be a useful bench option still. He's always been a bit hot and cold so I wouldn't rule him out just yet.

There are times when Stephen Ireland gets stick off Stoke fans but watching him play today it is very easy to see the quality of his very early passes which can open up defences. He is a great player to have in our squad. I also thought that Muniesa had a great game. What really stood out today was that in Muniesa, Arnautovic, Joselu, Van Ginkel and Ireland we are acquiring players that in periods can take teams apart with their passing and movement. Very entertaining to watch! The future is looking bright! Definitely. However those players are also liable to make mistakes(Muniesa v Everton stands out) and/or go missing for spells......what I'd like to see is a couple of no nonsense enforcer types in there to compliment the undoubted talent we now have.

Spot on, some on here don't realise how such an injury saps your confidence. It take a little time but he will be ready for the new season. I have no doubts about it.

Oh! Do no nonsense enforcer types not make mistakes? Individual errors occur every weekend and most of the time they get punished but thankfully at the moment it is the players who I mentioned who are causing the opposition to make those mistakes.

Unlucky with his 1v1 with the GK I like diouf but there was nothing unlucky about his 1v1. He got far to close to the keeper and decided just smash and hope. Diouf is better when he doesn't have to think about what he's got to do and just use his instinct

Great workout for us today. Annie yet again looked razor sharp. I really do hope we get a nzonzi reacement. We simply can't afford to let our player of the season leave and replace him with a player that struggled make the bench last year

Of course they make mistakes but they're also inclined to be defensive minded, hold their position, win possession and play the simple pass. A Whelan upgrade would be high on my list. I'm a big fan of Whelan but I think he'd benefit from some genuine competition. All in all I love what Hughes has done but I do think we may be a bit vulnerable in areas, particularly without Zonz.
