Had a quick search on the site of the beer warehouse near me and could only find 2 Samuel Adams, sadly not the one you're after - www.beersofeurope.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=Samuel+adamsI'll keep an eye out tho. If you want me to pick up either of those they do have for you let me know :)

Mini Beer Festival at Baddeley Green WMC this weekend. The Vans playing this aft. It was a brilliant thing last year. I'll no doubt be in too much of a condition to coherently report back. Chin Chin.

Ended up with Old Empire, Owd Peculiar, Badgers Hopping Hare (triple hopped and v refreshing) and Ringwood's Old Thumper.

Caution if there's an Owd or Old prefix. The Evil Empire... had some wrong uns on that terrible stuff. Thumper does what it says on the tin, headache tackle. Keep quoffing.

Craigtube is worth a look on YouTube. Home brew weekly broadcast and quite therapeutic in a low budget, everyday 'brew your own beer' kind of way.

The pub's been freshened up by Joules' Brewery but it's still pretty much as was if you've been before.

Joules No 1 Stone Ale. A 'smooth' slumbering Monk. Sent from my GT-I9192 using proboards That was u23 matchday wasn't it Rog? Up Leek duck? The Cock? Any ale available in Harrison Park? usually is. I'm hoping to fit a few games in, with a mini real ale tour as an extra incentive.

If not previously mentioned Marstons Owd Roger was always a winner. Where it could be found on draught they would only serve it in halves. Dark sweet and bloody powerful stuff. Seen it in bottles but rarely on a bar these days.

Up Leek and took your advice with a couple in the Cock and one in the Fountain Inn which is an absolute peach of a boozer There is ale in Harrison Park but the bar closes 10 mins before KO and opens again after the game. I got there with 5 mins to go I did have a sniff around the bar at half time but the towels weren't moving. Forgot to ask what was on the pumps.

Seen it in bottles but rarely on a bar these days. I'm fairly certain the OwdRodger you come across nowadays is a pale, thin shadow of the lethal barley wine you used to get. It's currently about 7% and a pale thin disappointment imo. It used to be much stronger and sweeter than that. I'm glad someone else apart from me remembers its availability on draught though. Of a similar strength and much sought after was the Courage Russian Imperial Stout that used to turn up around Christmas time. Yum.

Not come across the Russian one you mention I'll keep an eye out for it. Agreed with you on the bottled Roger, not a patch on the draught. Can't believe I actually tried to drive on one occasion after consuming a pint of the stuff. It was available in a pub down south when I was working there, in Hertfordshire. Long since closed sadly. One huge beer festival with about a dozen ales at any one time. Happy days.
