I think people need to realise we are very close to, if not breaking through our glass ceiling. The players we are looking at are top players with loads of options.
We will be third and fourth choice, if not last choice.
We have to make sure we scout and target enough of the similar quality to make sure we get one of them.
In time it might improve but it's a sign of our progress over the last few seasons and it's a small problem we should embrace.
Patience now more than ever.

Would Bego really want to head off to sit on the bench at Chelsea at his stage in his career. I doubt Bego would be ahead of Courtois on the basis of last season.

Moses not hot on coming to Stoke and Sheiky turns it into an anti-Scholes thread. Not that's a surprise! Just telling everyone to chill a little. Scholesy's been on Signal telling us the big names will roll in. I believe him. Don't you? I don't think it's a thinly veiled amateurish, Zonz and Bego are off soon so I'd better do my Comical Ali bit at all. Not one bit. Oh no. Then he's taking a big risk isn't he?

Not surprised. He always struck me as someone who really didn't want to be here but needed a shop window so he could go elswhere. He had plenty of opportunity to have dropped hints whilst he was here. Been consistently saying for months that we should take him on loan without buying until he demonstrated that he could stay fit.
Contrast his niggling injuries to Bojan busting a gut to get fit.

Moses will do very well to find a better club than Stoke to move to. Good luck to him. Hard to think of too many "better" options who'll have the £7m+ lying around and the ability to offer him regular football? But you'd think his agent will have a better idea than us, so he must have interest? "...and is instead considering a number of other options, both in the Premier League and abroad"
With that being said, a fee in the region of £7m is a steal for Victor. In recent years we've spent similar amounts on far worse players.

Absolutely right, we could be better off unearthing players with potential and the desire to do well. Not always easy but Hughes has found a few in the past. We are not yet in the £20m player league but we could spend such a sum wisely with effort.

Well, he was a good player to have but I never felt like he actually wanted to be here... so in all honesty, I'm not surprised.
Good luck Victor.

It doesn't help with the idiot saying we're attracting the next level of players from major, major teams. Just because we are talking to them doesn't mean we are going to sign them, you're bang on by saying 3-4 or even last choice because it fits in nicely where we are when it comes to what we offer salary wise.

Maybe they're in progress and closer than we realise? Maybe he's talking about players we've already signed like Muniesa, Bojan et al. If not then bluffers will always be outed in this game and he will go the same way as the rest.

If you've ever been injured you'll know how frustrating they are. Who's to say Moses wasn't antagonising his by rushing back? Your point was such a stupid comparison.

He consistently went off with minor niggles when things weren't working for him. Not a player to run off his injuries, it was clear to those not mesmorised by loaning a Chelsea player that he was going through the motions most of the time. He didn't want to be here and still doesn't. With or without social media Bojan, Odem and Muni all doing their best to get fit unlike Moses who managed 16 games for us and didn't always complete them. 38 games in three seasons is not a good record.

Always said it about any player we have ever had,if they don't want to play for us then i don't want to watch them play for us either. If Stoke City Football Club are not good/big enough for you then you are not fit to wear OUR TEAM'S shirt. Totally utterly agree!! I've just been verbally battered by one of our cousins from over the pond on Stoke USA on Facebook for saying the same thing about Nzonzi +1

Like it or not as we move up the football food chain Stoke City FC is a tough sell - people hate the 'Little Old Stoke' concept on here but it definitely has grain of truth in it. Two things spring to mind - never look down your nose at those who have committed to the cause and give it 100% week in week out and secondly certain players attitudes may change as we get nearer the end of the window and they suddenly see their options in rather a clearer light!

Crikey. I didn't expect our summer to be quite so tortuous. I wonder which Premier League clubs would be interested and be of greater appeal? Don't worry, the apples will drop on transfer deadline day when Rob Dorsett and cast from Fraggle Rock are camped outside Clayton Wood !

Didn't have you down as one of the "I believe everything I read" brigade Pugs.
I don't.
I'm in the camp that all footballers are self-centred wankers.
Of course you don't include Bojan in the 'all'. He is a beautiful force of nature.

I am not really fussed if kono and moses dunna come to stoke and I am not that bothered if zonz leaves. Players come and go and we just have to have faith in the management team replacing them.

To coin a phrase 'why do we want someone who doesn't want to play for us...?'
Been reluctant isn't telling us to fuck off. He's a pro footballer, of course he's gonna want to get the best possible deal. If we only signed players who wanted to come to Stoke then we'd still be struggling in the Championship Agree completely. Pity we can't have the same consistency regarding other players e.g. Kono. A bloke coming from UKRAINE, not 160 mile away.

I'm sorry but that is just your opinion and not based on any fact. You have no idea whether he was genuinely injured or not. Run off injuries? It's not cramp you know? And if he really didn't want to be here why the fuck did he come back for our last game of the season even though he was injured? H

I'll wait to hear off the man himself before hanging him out to dry.
That said I think Moses would be pretty stupid if he didn't want to come here but would it be a massive shock?
Not really.
There aren't many players who aren't Billy Big Time and no matter what we think about our upwardly mobile status in the football world, we're still Stoke City and most top players will think they can do better than us.
That's not being negative just being realistic about modern day footballers.
They don't all have Bojan's apparent humble mentality (or his prodigious talent come to that).
