Get 3m for SJW and put the money towards a permanent deal for Moses. If Joselu starts up top, I can see MBD starting on the right anyway, with the recovering Odemwingie as back up on a 12 month contract. I'll be desperately disappointed if Hughes sees Diouf as the answer to our wide right problem.

I'll de desperately disappointed if Hughes sees Diouf as the answer to our wide right problem. Can't see it for a second. Mama has done the business when given the chance in the middle but still isn't the perfect striker for us. I presume Joselu will be his main competition/rotation as a striker. Walters and potentially Odemwingie will be our right winger. If Odemwingie doesn't sign or Walters goes, we will then hopefully replace with a quality right winger. Mama has done enough to be a pure striker now and not shoe horned onto the right.

Hope we keep Walters he's the man you need leads by example 100% commitment often starts our pressing game and bullys and harrases defenders tracks back hard player to get the ball of and don't forget he's had a niggling knee injury since Dec but didn't hide or Winge about it and I have read that he's brilliant in the dressing room for moral very important don't replace all our hard men with lightwieghts or moodie players we don't won't to see us bullied of our own pitch do we

If Walters isn't going to be a regular next season then get him sold. He has proven in the past that he isn't the best to take a place on the bench lightly. I would even say he has proven that he mardes to the press.

The only really annoying this as regards SJW so far this summer
WTF is he doing playing in meaningless Friendlies for ROI when we were told he was carrying a knee problem that needed an operation ?
(or so we were told)
WE PAY HIS WAGES --use the summer to get fixed SJW - for your employers
Mind you
A vital player to our squad and our club - needs to be used wisely at both club and international level - and recently
he wasnt
(annoyed)

(annoyed) He won't be as vital next season! We need to have a strong squad and MH has to manage the 25+ players at his disposal. Injuries, suspensions, we need the depth to challenge for improvement. SJW has proved that he is good enough to be in our plans and we should be working to keep him here.

Give him the same length of rope Begovic got. Served the team well, and I hope he stays. The bulldog and heart of the team.

If he wants the same as our top earners then there's Bob Hope of that, he just doesn't deserve it.
I think he might do, I don't buy that he was misquoted at all.
Also the length of contract will be an issue. 32 this September so 33 when his new contract would begin....
Deserving of a year extension, he'll want more.

A year is about right. I can see him being useful during the cups, but relying on him for a full year? Sceptical

I think we should cash in on Walters now.
He's been a great servant and gets a lot of unnecessary abuse from this message board. Chances are we can still get some decent money for him but we just need to make sure we don't miss his work rate & goals. I think this new Joselu lad will cover the goals piece, so just the 'die for the cause' mentality to emulate.
Good luck John wherever you end up. You've been a surprising success.

Time to cash in on SJW and move on. He will be 33 in September and will in theory be a bit part fill-in player for us. If he wants guaranteed game time at his age it will have to more than likely be at a lower level. Best all round but we must replace his never say die attitude, and his goals.
Looks like being a summer of real change at the club.

JON HAS EARNED AT LEAST ANOTHER SEASON HERE. DID HE NOT FLOURISH WHEN PLAYING WITH MOSES AND BOJAN?

From what I gather Jon wanted a 2 year deal but a one year extension was offered. But from what I believe this is all sorted and is expected to sign once back at the club. It has nothing to do with wage demands

We cannot afford to throw away a player like Walters and his 10 goals a season are not easily replaced.
There is too much excitement over the signing of new but untested players for the Premier.Walters has shown he can deliver and the squad would be the poorer without him.
Yes,we do need some signings, every team does, but do not be too quick to dispose of the reliable players we have such as Walters.

Let Jon go. Try to get George Boyd. George has a fantastic work rate very like Jon but I think a better footballer.

Im definitely in the - shouldnt be a top earner but we should keep him on category -
He was a bit over-used and ridiculed during TP's reign but hes an important part of the current Stoke DNA. I think we need to keep him for his battling qualities he shows against the big boys like Chelsea. Need to keep a few Brits that like a good tackle

(annoyed) Ireland had an important qualifier against Scotland. The England game was a warm up for players that hadn't played for a few weeks and Walters didn't start. Walters aggression is just as important for Ireland as it is for Stoke, so not surprising he started the Scotland game. Regarding the thread, I hope we keep him. We need strong characters like Walters. Many sides that thought they were EPL mainstays, sometimes faltered when they had too many continental lightweights who suffered in English winters.

Some people have short memories and believe too much hype about CL players. Walters is deserving of a final good deal

It has nothing to do with wage demands I really hope this is the case Marc. All things must pass but Walters still has plenty to offer Stoke. We can replace him with someone with more talent but the touch of steel he adds is a real plus at times. My only question would relate to his desire to play every week (which is an admirable attitude in itself) as he's surely going to get less game time as the quality of players available increases. My total appreciation of what this player offers is well known and I honestly think he has been a fantastic signing for Stoke. He's as fit as a butcher's dog and would die for the cause and every squad needs a player of his ilk. I would be more than happy to see him in our squad for the next two seasons as long as he can handle playing fewer games. I'm certain that he will earn every penny of what we may be paying him for a further two years and I sincerely hope this gets sorted.
