Seen some debate on the TMS page wondering if a 500 score is possible in an ODI. The consensus is of course it is at some point. I recckon today may be that day. NZ started, as usual, like a house on fire. If McCullum and Guptil stay there for a good few overs 500 is well within their capability. Then we chase it down! Even against this inexperienced bowling attack, there's not a chance New Zealand will make 500. Not today clearly - certainly not if McCullum and Guptill get out cheapish. As indeed happened. Anyway, 350 to win is a tough target. Can we do it? Yes we can! Edit - and we did

Not the biggest limited overs fan but this is one of the greatest one day series involving England I've seen
I hope cook brings some of this positive brand of cricket to the test series v Australia

Brilliant ton from Morgan. I am absolutely loving this. We have never batted better than this in ODIs.

And a century as well for Root. Well done sir. Now just finish the job off for a stunning win. Edit: job done. 4th highest ODI run chase. Brilliant England. What a transformation from the WC debacle.

Fantastic.
It's like we've found some type of time machine that transported the ODI side from 10 years in the past to today.
It's just a shame that we couldn't have pressed the fast forward button 6 months ago before the World Cup.

England bowling and doing well. 169-4.
NZ will struggle to post 300+.

Well we've well and truly arsed up the chace. I still think the Duckworth Lewis method is complete bollocks though.

Now where are those bloody Aussies... The Aussies will be even tougher than New Zealand, will be another close series I'd imagine. I'm dreading the ashes though, can't see past the Aussies retaining the urn. Hopefully this young England team will prove me wrong again.

Before we say Good Bye Kiwis and Hello Oz, let's get the last match of the first part of the summer over.
Tomorrow is the finale of the NZ tour - a T20 match at Old Trafford.
Been a pleasure having you folks here. A great series - high quality cricket played in the finest traditions of the games sportsmanship.

The final act has reached its halfway point. England 191-7 off their 20 overs. Not bad at all.
Over to you Black Caps.
This could be a thriller.

Well done England - another fine win. And a big one at that. Mind you it was close up till NZ did an England and collapsed; last 5 wickets gone for 4 runs.
Great to see Wood and Willey inflicting the pain.

It's a massive shame that the Kiwi's tour hasn't been the main focus of the summer. A whole summer of cricket of that intensity, but more importantly, with that level of sportsmanship is what I want to see.
Well done New Zealand - and not because we won, not at all. Come back soon.
Brendon McCollum you are a credit to your country and to cricket.

Brendon McCollum you are a credit to your country and to cricket. I know what you mean - it's a tour that's left us wanting more. Maybe they'll get an extended tour next time they're here; not just a curtain raiser for the main act to come. Mind you they've been some warm up act! Bring on those Aussies. You're up against a resurgent England........ I hope!
