As I mentioned earlier I'm hoping we might convince Tommy to stick around for one more year. If he doesn't, regardless of whether this guy arrives or not, you can be fairly confident that we will sign a goalkeeper with some experience to push butland. Yeah, agreed. If we are in the process of signing this guy, he seems like a cheap, low-risk gamble - with the experienced campaigner who'll challenge Butland still to arrive later in the summer (should Asmir and Soro both depart which isn't absolutely 100%). Our management aren't idiots, so rookie mistakes aren't probably on the list of ones they'd make in building (or completely re-building in this case) a Premier League goalkeeping pool We'd be more likely to sign and need to rely on a hopeless has been than make the mistake of relying on a rookie. I believe Bachmann is quite highly rated in the corridors of power as well.

We've perhaps been a bit spoilt having two quality keepers here for so long- I think most teams at our level have to make do with someone not that great as second choice. He does sound worryingly shit though! ??? 'Worryingly shit'? - says who? some Danish journo? - Many on here don't trust the views of English football journos, so why a Danish version? Come on, if we signed someone who couldn't keep his place in a Championship team, and we had someone who'd seen him play a lot telling us he was shit, surely it'd ring a few alarm bells? I've never seen this Danish bloke play so I'm not saying he is shit- I've no idea whether he is or not- but it seems like a very odd signing on paper. We can only wait and see how it pans out...

I guess we've been spoilt these past 7 years but he really is no great shakes and I've seen too much of him to last a lifetime. We've got our own Hun in goal who I do like though! Shame he's only 18!

If Norwich stay down, I'd go for ruddy. Heaton at Burnley is decent as well and they have a decent no.2 by all accounts which may tempt them to let him leave. Both would cost significant sums though so hopefully keeping tommy for another year makes sense all round. Ikime at wolves is pretty good as well

My dream goalie (if he's as good as he was a year ago-I haven't watched him since) is Mattia Perrin but yeah that's a dream!

He's absolutely garbage according to Twitter.
Not writing him off by any means but some of the comments don't fill me with excitement.

Looks to me like he's just coming to make up the numbers. He will be Tommy's replacement as number 3. If Bego goes i think we will get a better keeper for number 2/ push Jack for number 1. He'll be nothing more than Jani Viander MK2.

Please let me clarify:
I would dearly love to have a Danish player at Stoke. Thomas Sørensen is been a credit to both his club and his country and it would be brilliant, if we could sign another Danish player of the same caliber.
My main problem with the proposed signing of Haugaard is that he has shown very little to give any expectations of him being a potential Premier League goalie. He was highly rated as a 18-19 year old playing with AB, then spent the NeXT couple of years in FCM's reserves before he had half a season of first team football. I saw quite a lot of him during that half season, as FCM is the nearest thing to a "local" club for me, and my impression was that he had the size of a keeper, but not the skills.
IF he signs - and there must be a big "if", as the source is a journalist from Ekstra Bladet (worse than The Sun)- I really hope he does well. I can't see him signing as second choise - no way! It's more likely that he is destined for the 3rd keeper job, so we can send Bachmann out on loan.

Why waste millions on a scouting network when you can bob on to Twitter for the full SP?

We seem to have a conveyor belt of good young keepers below Bachmann and they need to play. The only way it makes any sense is if Bachmann is going out on loan next season and Haugaard is in as a gamble, and a slightly more experienced number 3. Meaning we still need a second choice keeper to push (and support) Butland.

Decent enough for me. Splash the cash on the first team.

I have no thoughts on him, "he sounds awful" isn't an opinion on him! And if Ri....Tommy recommends a player you have to listen! Old skool reference. With tommy set to retire in the summer its a bit different than him wanting his mate around isn't it, if indeed its true that recommendation comes from Sorensen. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3076991/Stoke-City-set-sign-Midtjylland-keeper-Jakob-Haugaard-600-000-deal.htmlJust reading through this - I thought that Thomas had decided to go but just maybe he will hang around to help Is he too old to be on standby for next season? Would the likes of Green Ruddy (mentioned elsewhere) realistically want to spend time on the bench as no 2? 6ft 6ins - played at international level in his younger days, 23 quite young for a GK No Premiership experience so a loan a sensible move? Schmeichal jnr, De Gea and now Butland, given the chance when still quite young - this lad may be way below them in potential, but if our scouts see something there then maybe a risk worth taking Surely we would get our money back if it doesn't work out

Nearly every player we sign is reportedly shit, past his best, dead wood, too risky.
If those at the club think this guy is worth it then I'm happy to trust their judgement. Recent signings suggest that we should.

Hmm very peculiar although given what Hughes has delivered so far I'm not going to second guess him but the lad doesn't seem to have many fans. Neither did Bojan, he had been written off. I'll trust in Hughes and his team, they seem to be doing a good job.

Recent signings suggest that we should. In fairness, nearly every player we sign is described as a potential world beater too. Brek 'the next Gareth Bale' Shea springs to mind. With regards to Haugaard I think many people are just thinking '£600k for a 23 year old reserve goalkeeper from the Danish leagues, that's an odd one'. Let's see though. As you say, Hughes deserves our trust.

When will the daft fuckers on here ever learn
Bojan won't fit our system, Butland isn't ready, etc etc
And again we have them slaughtering a bloke before he's put pen to paper

Butland isn't 100% ready yet. And no one's slaughtering him, don't be so dramatic!
