We have to remember that we are entering silly season. As a club we have made noises that we are lookig to improve the squad. Rumous have been rife about Bego also having had Assaidi then Moses on loan we will be associated with lots of wingers and keepers.
Under the present regime there have been players like Diouf who have been publicly chased, but most were recruited under the radar like Bojan.
Whilst it is difficult to remain calm when "associated" with big name players, I for one will only believe signings when there is real evidence not just paper talk.

Its the right winger Pione Sisto we need to sign from that club.
He got me 18 goals from the wing on FM.

If its true I wonder what Bachmann and Eve and any of the other young keepers think about it. I have no idea if they're good enough or not but (unless the Danish journo and Claus have got it wrong) they can't be any worse than him and should be given the opportunity to step up as number 3 with an experienced (Shay Given type) number 2. I'm assuming Butland will be first choice.

If true he'll be 3rd choice and go out on short loans so he can be easily recalled if needed.

People need to stop shitting themselves a club need three keepers in the squad really. Butland would be our first team, we would sign some old bastard like Green for cup matches and as cover and then in the worst case scenario if both keepers break their legs on comes the not-so-great Dane as emergency cover. No point giving that role to Bachman as he needs games and experience which a 3rd choice keeper certainly won't get

Hmm. Interesting stuff from the Danish journo I'd be staggered if this guy was No.2. He sounds really raw. What happens if Butland breaks his leg on the opening day of the season? That's a scary thought! Sounds like he impressed in the first half of the season but then his club replaced him with a more experienced keeper. I guess one thing to cling onto is that Sorensen may have recommended him. We can but hope! IF bego does go, and IF Jack were to suffer some sort of horrendous injury, surely we could apply to the FA for an emergency loan?

If there's any truth in it, he's claiming he's in the dark.... link"I do not know more than what I have read in the article. My phone rang this morning and then I read it" says Jacob Haugaard to tipsbladet.dk.
"This is not to say much, because I do not know more than everyone else. It is probably better to take hold of FC Midtjylland or my agent. Maybe they know more" says the goalkeeper
He declined, however, in no way a move to the English Premier League, for it is a league that is high on the wish list of the Danish goalkeeper.
"It's certainly interesting, because I'm a fan of the Premier League, and I have been for many years. Premier League would then no stupid things if it now be" said Haugaard, who has not been in contact with Thomas Sorensen, who allegedly recommended Haugaard to Stoke.
"I have never spoken with Thomas. As the story stands right now, it is much fun reading, but it might as well be right that wrong"
"The most important thing for me is that I can see myself in a project. That's what counts for me. Right now I close no doors" said Haugaard.

I'm kind of hoping that tommy might be persuaded to stay on for one more year, if only to guide and nurture butland the way he did asmir in the early days.
Even more reason to do so if this story is true and tommy has recommended him in some way.

Can anyone translate that Danish reporter's latest tweets? (the guy that broke the news) twitter.com/MichaelQureshi/with_repliesFrom what I can gather, it seems some guy's son (11 year old) won a competition in Denmark and came over today to train with Begovic for a day. He asked about Haugaard and we said he's moving here but nothing signed yet.

We've perhaps been a bit spoilt having two quality keepers here for so long- I think most teams at our level have to make do with someone not that great as second choice. He does sound worryingly shit though! ???

Most No.2 keepers have a far better CV than this lad, at least the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
People like Myhill, Given, McCarthy at QPR, Hennessey at Palace, Mannone at Sunderland.
If they're not great, at least they're grizzled old veterans who've been around and don't mind getting splinters on the bench
If there's substance with this link, I'm still not remotely convinced that he's pencilled in as No.2. Must be No.3 surely?
This is a guy who FC Midtjylland actively replaced as their No.1 in January with someone I've never heard of, because they didn't think he was good enough for them?
And I'm guessing a kind comparison for their level is bottom half of the Championship?

By all accounts he was playing week in week out for the Danish champions elect, they simply went out and got a more experienced pro in. That doesn't mean he was shit canned or that he's pants. None of us have ever actually seen him play so hard to judge. If he has been recommended by Tommy however I would happily take his opinion on the guy as a good endorsement. Sometimes us Stoke fans do have a tendency to shit on players even before they've kicked a ball for us!

Sometimes us Stoke fans do have a tendency to shit on players even before they've kicked a ball for us! Take the point. But your No.2 keeper is a broken leg away from being your season-long No.1 - and nothing about this guy's career would make you comfortable with that scenario. A much smaller club with not even a tenth of our resources weren't happy with it at this stage of his development it seems? He may have potential - but, at 23, he's no spring chicken - and he's not battle-hardened as he's barely got any professional games under his belt. Suppose the problem with the No.2 role is also that he can't be loaned out to gain experience, but is effectively chained to the subs bench every week There's an argument that says your No.2 has got to be a mature keeper who's ready to be chucked in, not someone who needs games to grow. At least Butland had got well over 100 games under his belt. If he's 3rd choice, that's probably totally different as he's far enough from the coal face to grow and see what he turns into with loan spells and time.

Don't three keepers travel with the match day squad? This story makes no sense whatsoever to me, if it is true then we must be signing him solely on Sorensen's recommendation.

The bad thing about getting a keeper in before Begovic has gone is that other clubs may try and get him for a little less as we would have to get a keeper off our books as we couldn't keep 4 keepers in the first team squad.
My guess is that Butland is No.1, this new keeper No.2 then Bachman No.3 but on a short loan with a recall option.

Taking a punt on a young keeper - nothing wrong with that.
Sounds like 4th choice to me.
