Dunno if it's as straightforward as Pej suggests as Muniesa's fitness doesn't seem totally there? PejicIf Phillip Wollscheid gets the nod after being dropped last week that tells me he's probably going to sign him when his loan expires. But if Marc Muniesa is preferred in central defence, that suggests Wollsheid isn't staying for next season and beyond. SpinksBut he has a friend in this column because his good days have so far outweighed his bad by some distance since arriving on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in January.
Not sure I really go along with Spinksy's rather generous assessment of Wolly either.

Muni was excellent in the corresponding fixture last season unless I've had a brain fart and imagined it. However, he's been out for so long I reckon Wolly will play but I wouldn't assume that means we'll sign him.

Sounds all but done. Bit surprising. I'd rather we spent £7m on the right guy than talk ourselves into a "coup" of £2.8m on the wrong guy.

Right decision. He'll prove to be a great signing. Feel free to bookmark this and flame me if i'm wrong.

Hughes worries me with the centre backs massively.
Why anyone would swap Huth for Wollscheid which is what essentially will happen I do not know, especially whilst your closest coach is whining we need someone like Huth.

A very strange beast is Wolly, when he plays badly he is as bad as the worst centre back in the world ever yet when he plays well he looks alright. Trouble is the bad days come along every three or four games. We really need to give him a wide berth, there is far better at the club already and I'd have thought far far better available for £3m.

I sort of hope he doesn't sign, because there's a worrying amount that are ready to turn their backs on him before he even has. He can do better.

Bowen, in the context of attacking and defending set-pieces"In the past, we've had the likes of Robert Huth breaking his neck to get to the ball, and we need that mentality in more of our players."

"in the past" being the telling part of that.
It's a fucking stupid thing to say, the whole thing and not just that little bit.

In terms of ridiculously stupid comments from assistant managers, that one is right up there with Dave kempo Kemp's "clubs like stoke City can't afford to play with 2 wingers at places like Fulham".

Like i said a few months back i was told there was/is a clash of personalities and for me all this shows Huth will not pull on the red and white stripes again. Personalities don't, or shouldn't come into it. All that matters is "can he do a job for my team". What is to clash with when it comes to huths personality? There's nothing not to like in that sense. Wanting a high earning, injury prone player who you think cant pass water out of the club is at least comprehensible, even if you disagree. Bombing a solid player, character and leader out of the club because you don't like his personality is plain stupid.

I don't think that Muniesa is ready to play 90mins football after his long lay off.
It would be great to see him get some time tomorrow but I believe that Wollscheid will start.
I also think that we will sign him and we should give him our support

You think muniesa is a genius, I think he's merely good. :-) differences of opinion happen.

Bit worried about this, I see trouble ahead next season if he is in our first choice pairing. I think centre backs is the main difference of opinion me and the gaffer have.

Better get his Acceleration up. He honestly looks slower than Huth lately... how that is must be a mystery. I like Wollschied but he isn't in his prime like Huth and that concerns me going forward.
