This is really a no-brainer to me! Anybody who has played a lot of football would pick Huth ahead of both Wolly and Muni! He is by far the better defender, but also a bigger threat on attacking set pieces! A lot of people claims he has got no pace, but my guess is he will outrun both Wolly and Muni in a sprint! His willingness to sacrifice everything in every challenge is also a plus for big Rob! Why we are so keen on bringing in another central defender when we already have the right guy on our books really baffles me! Somebody needs to use some common sense here!

Better get his Acceleration up. He honestly looks slower than Huth lately... how that is must be a mystery. I like Wollschied but he isn't in his prime like Huth and that concerns me going forward. Huth is not slow, or at least he wasn't pre injury.

So we finally establish Hughes's blind spot. Central defenders.
He is completely wrong on this matter.

I'd go muni with wollscheid as cover, I think muni and shawcross at the back is a great partnership with a new right back

Huth wouldn't outsprint Muniesa. I can see you claim that, but I actually think he will! Have you got any results from the training ground? When Muni played at left back he always gave me the impression that he lacks pace, and that was the main reason I didn't want him to play in that position. When Huth was in the German squad some years back he was actually the second fastest in that squad according to tests! I know the results go some years back in time, but how much pace has big Rob lost? He is still only 30! I'm sure Muni would never have been the second fastest in any top nation squad by the way.

Like jase has said, he's better off not agreeing to sign.
Too many want him to fail now.

Like jase has said, he's better off not agreeing to sign. Too many want him to fail now. With respect; that's balls, mate. Too many think he isn't as good as others maybe. If he ends up being as great as some are suggesting then it's all rosy in the garden. Nobody wants him to fail, they just see him as a bloody big risk given how shaky he can look.

It's amazing that people genuinely think that hard core fans are desperate for certain players to fail isn't it? You have your opinion and that's that, sometimes you're right sometimes you're wrong. Glenn Whelan has been making me look a dick for years and long may it continue if its good for the team!

Stop being a mardarse. ;D Not being a mardarse, just reveling in the fact others are coming around to seeing the obvious! I don't think it's as obvious as it first seems. Hughes is a manager that has signed the likes of Chris Samba, Ryan Nelson and Vincent Kompany at Premier League level. Those three cost less than 7M combined. Our previous manager's specialist area was centre half and even he signed players like Paul Williams and Ibrahima Sonko!

I don't like Samba but I can see that many do and it does show he can spot a centre half. But with us his main decision with the centre backs have been poor. He signed a good un but barely plays him when he's fit. He's signed a very average one and plays him when he can even though the partnership with the captain look dreadful. He's sent Huth out loan, you have the assistant manager saying we need someone like him and then he will be sold. And then there was Wilson. It's a bit of a mess really back there.

link“Where will I be next season? That’s down to Stoke, I still have a year left on my contract there and I’m a Stoke player, so it’s up to them whether they let me leave or want me to stay.” Kaspar Schmeichel: “Huth has been brilliant since he came in, he has been absolutely sensational. His class, his presence and his character has been reflected in our results. “Survival is in our own hands now, which was the aim all along, but I repeat: The job is not done yet.”

So we finally establish Hughes's blind spot. Central defenders. He is completely wrong on this matter. I think you make a very valid point. Wolly impressed me to start with but now I see why his last club are prepared to let him go. Huth has demonstrated he still has a lot of "mileage" in him to go still and should be kept for at least another season while we find the right player to replace him which doesn't yet appear to be Tex. It could still be the right decision to sign Wolly as cover or to loan out to see if he can get to a consistent Premiership standard.

A one legged, clearly injured Shawcross now picked ahead of Wolly. Hhhmmm.
