Kurt, you're hardly objective on the subject. Think it´s an objective addition on the sentence i marked at numpty40, every week the same boring Arni-Thread. It´s sad that this season Arni doesn´t have the success at Stoke we all want, but the reason for it is not, that he can´t!!! ....and the positive counterargument ist currently his good performance in the Austrian National team (and there is not only the Liechtenstein-match)....there he shows that he can do it, and people love him.....the reason for me is that under manager Marcel Koller Arni has his fix place in the starting 11 every game....now Arni "pays the trust back", the manager placed on him. (I´m sure the last sentence has nothing to do with English language ) You can't be guaranteed a place regardless of how you're playing though Kurt.

Arnie, Arnie, Arnie.
What to do with a flair player that frustrates as equally as he excites ?
I can almost picture the same sort of thread for Mame Diouf next season if he doesn't start banging them in left, right and centre. Yet both have done ok without being prolific when they have played.
The arrival of Bojan has set some high standards that people may be using to compare players to and that's not always a good thing.

(thumbsup)They are waiting like hyenas for their meat, to tell us proudly that they were right Kurt, you're hardly objective on the subject. Kurt is a damn site more objective than many on here. He acknowledges when Arnie hasn't performed. For far too many it doesn't matter what Arnie does, the knives are out for him. Hence, you get the made up rubbish and the things from 5 years ago.

This happens with every player on here mate. People were desperate for Sidibe to fail, Walters to fail, Delap to fail, Wilkinson to fail.... I would be delighted if Arnie proved me wrong and started to perform like Moses or Walters or Puncheon or Bolasie ect ect but he's had nearly a full season and on Saturday was behind Stephen Ireland on the right. I would now argue that some have dug their feet in over him so much that they won't give up on him because they don't want to admit they're wrong. If Walters has performed as poorly as Arnie has this season the Hyenas would have had their fill. Arnie gets more support than say Wilko or Sidibe ever did on here despite the massive role they played on getting us to where we are. I'd take £1.5m for Arnie and I think he'd be happy to move on. I wouldn't make too much of Ireland playing ahead of him on Saturday. Think that was a weird tactical thing rather than anything pointed. Yeah to keep us tight but on this board everyone loves Arnie's defensive work, so surely Chelsea away he'd have helped with that whilst in a position that suits him more than Ireland? I think Hughes has given up the ghost but let's see how the rest of the season pans out.

Then maybe Arnie doesn't fit the system under Hughes. I can't see us changing things to accommodate him. What role does he occupy with Austria?

I know, we are in Premier League and a team manager of Stoke City has several options on each position if things don´t run well....bad luck for Arni. In Austria the competition is not so high on the left wing. Nevertheless in Austria he can be sure of a 110 % trust of Marcel Koller on Arnis contribution to a game. Listen to an interview if he speaks about Arni, there is absolutely no doubt from the manager on him....and i think, that´s what Arni needs

His cameo against Everton was excellent and he played well against Palace?

Most members of this board are clueless about actual talent. Remember the thread asking Bojan to be loaned out? Watch last seasons review dvd, you'll see Arnie was at the centre of everything good we did.

I'd prefer to do it on the basis that he hasn't turned up all season and is on a good wage yet is well down the pecking order. Some people are like Rossi with Tuncay.

Actual talent means nothing when you aren't performing, SJW and Moses have outshone Arnie all season long regardless of what you think of their "talent"

So if you're right - we've signed a Premiership squad player for £2 million? What's the problem? Why hound him out of the club?

The system Hughes has used for one game against the best team in the country. Yes, let's get rid of Arnie on the basis of that! What are you on about? It seems to be that with Austria, Arnie is first choice on the left. At Stoke it's Moses, even though both him and Arnie are primarily right footed. If he's not getting in on the left and either Diouf or Walters are preferred on the right then he's some way down the pecking order. I don't dislike Arnie but just feel he's not quite going to make it with us, to the extent that I wouldn't be surprised to see him ask for a move in the Summer. However, Chelsea or not, I'd have played him left midfield instead of Adam on Saturday, thus depriving us of the wonder goal, or at least brought him on for Adam at half time, so abysmal (in my opinion) was Adam but for his goal.

Get a grip. I've given him more praise for his rare good performances than you have criticised his poor performances. I'd like him to go because more often that not when he comes on we are a weaker team for it.

Good performance from the lad,he wasn't leaving the pitch without scoring today.
Players like him full of attitude & unpredictability, with a swagger you might say are the reason i watch football, wouldn't have him any other way.

Looked pretty good for a 'no mark' today
totally pissed off by being disallowed - twice was it ? - 5 minutes int injury time he charges into their box, dribbling a football but also, like an out of control chieftain tank and then buried one in the corner
good on ya lad !

Here is what I dont get.
When clubs buy a player, certain members of the footballing community believe that is it, you have this entity that comes with certain expectations. I blame fifa/FM ratings myself.
The thing is, there are these other entities in the footballing world, called coaches.
Now we signed Arnautovic for what, £2m? Considered 1 of Europe's more hotter properties at Bremen and we got him for this piddly amount.
There are valid reasons for this and we all know about his checkered past. But the lad oozes class and can generate moments of brilliance at any time, however he just isn't anywhere near consistent enough. If he was, he would be at a top top team in Europe.
So this is where coaches come in to play and can turn this potential genious into a quality player. Either this or clubs are paying shitloads for staff that contribute nothing.
This is what I get. People need to stop expecting what Fifa 15 tells them to.
