Went today, we played some great stuff but have to become more ruthless should have won easily , first goal was a disaster , get Huth back in the team , second avoidable , needless challenge by Sidwell and we should have scored at least four , can't see anything to worry about that hard work won't put right , best Stoke team for a long time if they can sort it Get Huth back in the team - for who? Wilson was very good today - are you suggesting replacing Shawcross? Wilson you say?

I thought we played well today, big improvement from Hull away. We looked in control, very dangerous on the break, couple of stupid moments but still very encouraging. I like where we are heading but our finishing needs to improve and need to keep our concentration levels till the final whistle.

So Stoke should have beaten Villa, Leicester, and QPR and have 13 points and be top of the Premiership.
Get real guys, every team drops a load of points it should have won every season and every team lets in silly goals
MH's new boys are progressing well and some (not all) of the older ones are playing as well as ever.
Keep faith in the team, they are still going to do very well this season.

Add Hull to that! Only Villa deserved to win! We could and should have won the others, but for bad decisions on the pitch. We should already be sitting in a comfortable position. Newcastle won't be a stroll in the park either!

Should be torn a new arsehole - the entire fucking lot of them who told em they were fucking Barcelona ? so annoying to see a team so sloppy, so casual,  so fucking arrogant as to throw two easy points away like that yes, it is human endeavour yes, they are humans yes, they can have off days this is becoming the norm however another weekend ruined ! It's not ruined my weekend but I can agree with most of that mate. So bloody frustrating through arrogance and complacency

We are chucking easy early points away and yet at the same time, winning at the Etihad we should be top six - and we are now 13th and likely to drop further not funny not funny at all ! I feel exactly the same as you mate

We're still trying to adapt to a new way with pace on the break. We are obviously trying to nick the ball around our box and break in numbers as fast as we can and at times it looked good.
for me it is at the moment at the expense of our passing. Everything was 100 miles an hour trying to be too quick. We had about 370 passes today. Qpr had about 400. A lot of teams today had 450 plus, Southampton about 600. We are usually quite high on that count but felt we were quite rushed today.
I can see what we are trying to do and it will come. The players will strike a blend and get that balance. Hughes said the last ten we should have slowed it down and seen it out. More like a cup tie. It will come. Good signs for me.

Calming down - not remotely interested in the bitchfight over one player which has erupted on this thread but more to the point, just look at the league table! We go for a third and close that match today out properly and, we're easily top half up to seventh even. As it is  - we're 13th heading for 14th and looking nervously over our shoulder downwards instead of being confident about a top half finish. Sloppy - complacent - perhaps even arrogant those words still come to mind And, if there was ever an 'easy' three away points in the premier league - today was certainly it another missed opportunity which overshadows all the good work being put in result - still - totally frustrating We shouldn't be looking down or up. We've played 5 games for fuck sake and whilst we've only won one, I would say that the teams we haven't beat will all finish below us. The league table means nothing until at least 10 games in. The positives are that we played well and are creating chances. We should have won our last 2 games comfortably. The negative is that every shot on target is going in. We should have 3 clean sheets to our name with only 1 goal against from our 5 games. We need to be smarter in both boxes but the signs are that it will come.

quote of the day
'Fuck me there's some bloody knicker wetting girls on here. We played well, didn't take our chances and got punished, that's what happens at this level. We will get there, we just need to take our chances. We will be ok. Don't let frustration turn into overreaction. Tony you are swiftly becoming pathetic.
UK, why are you so melodramatic in everything u post We played very well today, and in all honesty we were very unlucky, crouches miss when we were 1-0 up was pure bad luck
and we created so much more, this was always one of those games that was going to be testing, and yes we should have won, maybe say 1-4, but it didn't happen, its football, u are as old as me and u should know better

Very few points if any to be had in December. We lost agh knew to Leicester and villa - 6 points thrown away IMO - and threw away another 2 today. 8 points. True we got 3 against citeh. But ghat mexbd were 5 less than we should be The pair of you are spouting utter bollox! We played well and should of scored more. A great free kick did us for the victory. If that had not gone in, you would be singing a different tune! By the way, Neil Lennon on MOTD says we were breath taking and i couldn't agree more. The future is bright. By the way, how are Liverpool doing?

A great free kick that if we'd have had someone on the line they wouldn't have scored. I know how good that Krancjar is, and the team should have known. To give him that much to aim at was absolutely stupid! I know you'll all come back with, after it's happened, but I said this as soon as they got the stupid free kick! Frustration. Another two points up the Swanee. Criminal! Going to bed now, before I blow a gasket! Goodnight!

And I thought I'd been harsh in my criticism of the match. If somebody told them they were Barcelona were all guilty of believing it in the run up to the seasons start. Perhaps its time for us to all come back to earth?

The laughable thing about this thread is that people are accusing our players of arrogance and then - arrogantly - assuming we can just turn up at QPR and claim three easy points.
We should have won today, quite easily in fact, but we can't just expect to turn up and swot teams aside, especially when we know we're so wasteful up front and prone to error at the back.

The only thing complacent and arrogant are the fans. Some expect us to brush aside any team bar the top four. Newcastle will be tough as they and the rest of the league have good players. This year is showing again that any bugger can beat anyone.

At least we've beaten one of the big guns this time.
We'll be fine. It's a long season

It's a long season It is but we've gone backwards from last season and for that there's no excuse. And we weren't this sloppy at the back, the issues at the start of last season we down to the midfield. He tried everyone in that DM role until Whelan got the role then it changed. Something needs to change at the back again, I don't get the feeling he realises this though. He did with the midfield issue, it's why he tried every man and his dog there. Hughes this season has been pretty poor.

The biggest mistake Hughes made was changing the team that finished the last one.
However, it felt like an embarrassment of riches for most of us, considering the players we signed . However, it's the old champ manager mentality, where we all play the game in our head, and have our own ideas on the starting line up, without considering the variables.

Yeah, it's dead funny watching a team that waste a load of chances and can't defend. No. Just funny with fans wetting their knickers so early into a season. If you ask me the only team nailed on for relegation so far is Liverpool. Bet their fans are already looking at travel guides to some new stadiums for them. New quick breaking style that for me the players are still adapting too. Quick in the tackle at the back and looking to break quick in numbers. Too quick at times as our passing was rushed. All will come good. Lots of good signs for me. Bet villa and swansea thought they were going win the league until today. Anyone can beat anyone in this league. Just look at some of the results already. season doesn't settle down until about November.

I don't think it was, he didn't change it that much. Cameron needed dropping faster than a stone and Bardsley has been better. We need pace up front so Diouf had to come in, I know he's gone on to the wing a bit but it's like for like (in terms of pace) for Wingie and the rest is the same.
We're bad at the basics, that's the issue.

We were that sloppy at the back those first few months. It was awful. I don't think we were, the issues all stemmed from the midfield, which is easily fixable. Our issues now stem at centre half and the manager doesn't seem to see it.
